  1. My day at the office is ruined, sitting here with this not being ridden right now.
  2. Fork upgrade (or downgrade depending on your perspective).
  3. My first full build from scratch, finished about 2 months ago. From installing the BB bearing to tightening the pedals (excluding the wheel build)... Although the guys at Mellow Velo gave a hand with the headset running 34 x 11-42 with a real brand mixup - Wolftooth DM N/W on Sram crank, kalbo 16t & one up 42t.
  4. What route? might join up.
  5. Commute in regularly from Fourways side to Sandton, arriving in Sandton between 8:30 and 9. Usually Broadacres -> Lonehill -> Paulshof -> Spruit -> Ballyclaire but a number of route options. Leave Sandton 5pm to head back, either to Bryanston or back through Broadacres / Chartwell and onwards... MTB route, a lot of offroad (Spruit, pavements and veld). If anyone is keen to join, drop me a PM.
  6. Attempted bike jacking out near Lanseria yesterday afternoon, around 4:30pm. At the broken bridge crossing over the Krokodil near Blair Atholl. https://www.google.com/maps/dir//-25.9142888,27.9074536/@-25.915495,27.906209,1625m/data=!3m1!1e3 Been riding there for years and never had any incidents in the general area, the guy looked like a chancer - saw me dismounting and crossing and decided to see what he could get away with. Threatening to kill me with rocks he picked up after knocking me off my bike just after crossing (otherwise unarmed). Phone rang in the middle and pretended it was someone who was around the corner, coming down to the bridge, managed to hop on the bike and pedal away with his uncertainty. Going to skip that section when riding alone from now on.
  7. Something I learnt today: the oke from Diepsloot who commutes every day is unbelievebly strong. FLIP. I gave it horns coming up West road this morning (from North to Outspan), trying to build any form of gap in front of him. Halfway up he was still on my tail and I was probably just slowing him down, and did something i should have done at the bottom: pulled aside and let him pass. I almost lost a lung. He had barely broken a sweat, and he got to Outspan a good 30 seconds ahead of me. I wonder how he'd do in an event.... even more importantly, I wonder how he'd do on STRAVA.
  8. could have been worse... http://2.thumbs.scribol.com/11/2015/01/soprano-runner.gif?v=1
  9. Just entered the Lite. No chance of being ready for the full at this point Lekker perks being a Fedhealth member too! A competition top, tri-top, free Spur burger + beer voucher, 20% discount on entry....
  10. The ride: http://www.strava.com/activities/109153241 530m elevation gain over 30km The run: http://www.strava.com/activities/110980742 That climb is a proper killer. I walked it with my HR over 90%. take it easy on the swim and ride, you'll need it for the run.
  11. Not a bad idea. And use the contents of the box as the tools of the trade for the new job** **Note: mouse in the background not included.
  12. That moment when CWC delivers your awkwardly shaped package to your colleagues while you're on leave.... :whistling:

  17. very cool.
  18. Oi vey! Never noticed that, it is a bit XTreme. Could do a 2 day Magalies Adventure with 2 x lunches and beer at that price. might give it a skip then. what is BS is the fact that you pay R20 (+ R400) for a TSA day license for the lite and R80 for a day license for the full. Seriously? *edit* event info page says "R80" so maybe a glitch that you only have to pay R20 on the lite until fixed
  19. Only done 1 tri - this one, and definitely doing it again! Can't wait.
