    ride the rhenoster

just got an email that there's another ride the rhenoster (not "Ride the Rhino") in a few weeks, thought I'd share it here. did it last year and was a lekker ride. http://www.ridetherhenoster.co.za/
  2. just saw this, how have you (other hubbers) found this event? Compared to X-Terra Buffelspoort? 80% in so far...
  3. *bump* would be cool if there was a redstone this year... anyone know any more info?

    Runtastic

the same as any other app. It uses the same barometric altimeter that based on your device hardware, not the software. *edit* One really cool feature was the integration with Google Earth - you can replay your ride and see your movements in G.E. - quite cool. p.s. I have a heart rate monitor for Samsung S3 / S4 / S5 if you're interested....
  5. i used to have bar ends on my handlebars that I could shift the way I held on, and that helped stop pins and needles in my hands, might be worth a try for you.
  6. I hereby formally offer myself as a Gauteng-based tester, specializing in testing frame durability. With extensive OTHB (over the handlebars) experience and quite skilled at lateral cleated semi-dismounts, I am a great candidate for the position. Thats all, thanks.
  7. I was about to post this gif, should have guessed someone would have beaten me to it
  8. contacted Lauf last year, they do not sell forks on their own, and were only looking at partnering with manufacturers. Not sure if things have changed since then, but it would be pretty difficult to get your hands on just the fork, i would imagine. They look like awesome forks. The only maintenance that would ever be required is that if one of the "leaves" breaks, remove and replace it.
  9. does that mean "dibs"sticks gets first priority on all classifieds?
  10. Also starting one for some of the small kids from our school on the 31st of this month. We took em to NF a few weeks back and they loved it.
  11. i went from resin to metal for longer durability (the resins felt like they worked better too).
  12. that cateye would be useful, my missus lost hers on a ride, so we still have the rest of the bits....
  13. i do. Not worried about what other people think about my strava - it's more about me keeping track of my riding / fitness, and if it peves them, then they can unfollow me.
  14. From collapsible two-wheelers to motorcycle biking hybrids, these forward-thinking and practical designs are sure to appeal to experienced cyclists and newbies with an interest in the fast-paced sport. Standouts from this list include designer Gianluca Sada's foldable bicycle designs that resembles a traditional umbrella. Blowing the minds of inventors and athletes, the piece resembles a gadget that is straight out of a James Bond film. Another innovative bicycle example from the list comes to us from House of Gold who presents consumers with an opulent and gilded design that is surprisingly made for rugged and extreme cycling conditions. http://www.trendhunter.com/slideshow/innovative-bicycle
  15. these usually retail for ~R1k, so not badly priced. Haven't had an issue with a premium, been using it for a year. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/78896-garmin-brand-new-premium-hrm-with-soft-strap-ant/ I've also bought a HR strap from the autostyle okes before, no hassles.
  16. Don't be so harsh on yourself, we all like a couple of beers with a good MTB ride.
  17. get a 2nd hand one, the classifieds here are great. Much more bang for your buck.
  18. 40km's for grade 1 / 2 / 3 is a bit harsh, but I'm pushing them to give it a bash. There's 2 kids we see riding in along Witkoppen towards Lonehill and they always drop us in the traffic.
