  3. 39km / 800m one way (From just past home of the chicken pie to Sandton). Do return route about once a week.
  4. eish, not cool. It's been so good for a while.
  5. Hint: MULTI PASS
  6. thanks mons.
  7. A great solution would be to incorporate this into event fees. They're currently selling pics at R45 each - that's ludicrous, but I reckon they're probably selling less than 10% of their pics. This means: - consistent, reliable income for photographers - all riders get pics - organizer gets brownie points for being innovative. Downsides: - Photographers not as motivated to take decent pics if they've already been paid (the pics won't need to sell themselves) - extra expense for organizer cuts into profits or extra expense is passed on to riders in the entry fee.
  8. So you have practically every day to ride while they get on with it?
  9. This happens to me too... annually....

    Route 66

entry limit of 500, but looks a little less than that. Not bad at all.

    Route 66

exactly why I didn't enter. Considering you can enter a single day event for around R200, anything over R600 doesn't seem justified to my logic. This event was 3 times that

I bought my trisuit from www.fluidlines.co.za - awesome service, shipped from Cpt to Jhb in 3 days (so quicker for you ape town okes), and about 50% of the cost of Sportsmans Warehouse. If you're looking for an S / XS size, then go to http://shop.fluidlines.co.za for even better deals. http://shop.fluidlines.co.za/ In my opinion, trisuit is better than a wetsuit cos you can run & ride in the trisuit, but i'd assume you'd a) cook properly in a wet suit or b) loose time in transition getting out of it. I've only done 1 tri (Xterra Buffelspoort), so this comes with little experience and lots of assumption. *edit* shop.fluidlines.co.za recommended for s / xs only because thats generally all they have available for end-of-line / clearance deals, but check availability regardless.
  14. I thought it might have been one of the obstacles from the Warrior... if not intentional, they should definitely build a chicken run around it - there's a place for track along the left, just needs some hacking.
  15. Ya, it's very windy, I rode it for the first time on Saturday too It was the first day that the yellow route was opened apparently, though I've seen some other guys have ridden the route. I thoroughly enjoyed the yellow route. Downhill rock gardens in the forest near the start, constant pace changes and the dips and rises that sneak up. Floating bridge. Riding through old buildings. Great marking and just generally a great trail. (though very "unflowy"). The biggest gripe I had with the route was the huge knee-deep mud pond about 10km in - I really don't enjoy riding with my bb and hubs submerged in muddy slush on a casual ride, and there was no chicken run around it. Here's the noodles....
  16. i waited for 4 months before my good deal came through (R6k for a new Silverback 29er XT HT). Keep waiting. I set up an RSS feed to my browser so that I can see new classifieds as they're posted, helps if you jump on a good deal quick, they never last long.
  17. I'll wait until Strava Races comes to cycling in SA and enter for the normal NF rate.
  18. I think you came to the right place, there's lots of experienced TROLLyers here.
  19. different wheels, crank, stem at least too...
  20. Just saw a new feature that's being piloted in San Fran: http://www.strava.com/races Race at any time during the four-day competition window Compete alongside friends or run it on your own Run as many times as you want - no limit on the number of attempts Quite a lekker feature if you ask me. No control on cheating, but the general idea is awesome.
  21. i wonder how many okes will get the valves confused and run high psi on the outside and low on the inside
  22. To get geeky on this: at high pressure, helium would be denser than the surrounding atmosphere. CO2 has a molar mass of around 44g/mole, while He is 4 - so while it would still add weight to the bike, He would add 1/10th of the weight. Not sure how many moles would be required to fill a tyre.
  23. wow, awesome. guessing there's a slight weight gain in exchange for a bit more robustness. i'm still keen on my idea of building air locks into a frame that you can pump co2 into for use as an integrated bomb.
