  1. A full minute? sak sarel.
  2. It's a costly sport for socialites, aimed at people with money, who need others to know (think) that they have money. I bet the 15k helmet has a SOLID margin built in and there is a demand inflated element to that price. My guess is the importers of those helmets are not driving Polos. Even if it would have been fitting.
  3. Honest opinion: I’m glad your partner pulled out when he did. Kudos to you for not pressuring him to go on. May I suggest Hyrox or F45 (aka CrossFit lite) rather. hat, coat, DOOR!
  4. Maximizing Shareholder Value 101 Having recently been involved in a (fortunately successful, but still dramatic) Search and Rescue, let me tell you that dealing with the aftermath takes a while. And we were successful…
  5. None. But no news is good news. Today I spoke with a dr who worked at the CE medic tent in Fairview Race village. She says it was a rough day. They had three critical cases that went to Hospital. No fatalities. conflicting stories. I hope hers is true.
  6. I got rained on while running along the course earlier. It will definitely be a mud fest on the route.
  7. Imbuko Chemchamp is mixing it up in front again. can anyone recall what the highest an SA team was on GC? IIRC the Chem Brothers duo was 2nd the last year they raced together? But my memory from that era is clouded by disappointment.
  8. I got 7.5 hrs out of my vivoactive4 last year at a race. I think I put it on smart battery mode. Wasn’t moving fast enough to care about highest accuracy.
  9. I’m not in the habit of asking for our conversations in writing. I will gladly be proved wrong on this, this is people’s lives we are speculating about. But I trust him more than I trust the epic media releases.
  10. Maybe you need to do what I did, and chat to a Dr working at Paarl hospital? You are after all a journalist?
  11. Agreed. Getting 5tons of water to the water points really isn’t that hard. Not even to KrismasKamp. Add another 5tonner for safe margin. The top of Groenlandberg is a different story, but then you put a WP at the bottom and a cache of water as high up as you can.
  12. 5 days of racing and there is 30 seconds in it between 1 and 2. love it!!
  13. She retired from racing, pursued her profess career and started her family. Yet the first place your mind goes is there? do you mind excusing yourself for a while?
  14. On a less somber note: Annika Langvad is smashing it, all while being a new mom. My respect for her just reached epic proportions. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DHWTMl8uiDw/?igsh=YWM3dW0zcWQ3ZWh1
  15. Looks like he lost his team mate?
  16. Extended cut off to 16:50 Maximum amount of hrs allowed on route now 8:45 Just got this message on the WA group. Our team just went through Krismas Kamp WP. They are concerned that there won't be enough water for the backmarkers.
  17. Not everyone is a tourist paying in Dollars. The tents are paid for, and accommodation n in the winelands isn't exactly cheap. That being said, My friends are sleeping at home (S-West) and getting up early to beat traffic through stellies. No brainer.
  18. A lot of racing still to come. Stage 6 is designed to shake up the pro field. That climb up to the Neck above Lourensford is an adventure.
  19. The photos aren’t great. But it looks like your derailleur hanger is bent.
  20. Surely the one can do D90 and the other Gravel champs. Get a baby/house/pet sitter or an ouma and make it happen? Unless it's a case of mutual respect and supporting each other aty races. Sidenote: This is a double edged sword. It means there are lekker events in random places, but I've done a few events where the organisers have not been up to snuff wrt medics, plans in case of evacuation and getting enough water at aid stations. Couple in not checking minimum kit with remote race routes and extreme weather this can cause crap.
  21. SO MUCH OF NNNNIIIIICCCCCEEEEE!!!!!! I have an up to date bike, and a 20 year old SS hardtail, and while i am undoubtedly faster on the new bike, the fun and stoke level is the same. My riding mates usually start laughing when I pull out the SS, because they know we'll be going slower, but hit all the fun lines while talking a lot of crap.
  22. IF i dont gym, I feel 40. When i do, I feel 24. heeltyd honger. heeltyd moeg. heeltyd jags. I will be taking Jan and some of Feb to sort out my calf injury and working with a bio to strengthen and fix what I need. And then ramp up mileage for MUT. Might give Bay2Bay a skip if the calf isn't lekker. I amcontemplating going with a coach, only for the reason that I'm not disciplined enough to hold myself accountable, but shnorre enough to wring every cent out of a coached plan if I paid for it...
  23. Alan Hatherly to Giant Factory Off Road. But also on Green Edge for road? https://www.instagram.com/reel/DEVKfCXPP4Q/?igsh=cjVicmZ0YXJ2dDV6 Full team https://www.instagram.com/p/DEVM2t-ohPd/?img_index=4&igsh=Z2ZnMnlxMWIybW8w
  24. The ideal bike for bike packing is the one you have. I can confirm that my carbon hardtail was effective for bike packing.
  25. Must be an Isuzu driver, not having a back-up Camera. As a Ranger driver, I do not deny using the reverse camera. All the time. Makes hooking up trailers daily a breeze when going solo. Side note, I took off the canopy last week to load a flow bin, and now that canopy will be parked in my warehouse until winter. No blind spots, easy loading of stuff, chuck a blanket over the back and shuttle. So much room for activities.
