  1. Speak to johann from velolife. He brings in bergamont.
  2. Enough! I can guarantee you ! .... this entire years regional series went out the window with my wedding, honeymoon and then other mates weddings ... I can tell you now ... this wont happen again! Baby crap, and birthdays ... i dont care .. racing first! .... ... (big talk now until the chains get slapped on and Nige gets dragged off kicking and screaming!)
  3. We wont be at the Enduro this weekend unfortunately ... some inconsiderate mate of mine decided to have an away Wedding and we wont be back in time ....
  4. I agree on BOTH accounts there Hairy ... hahaha and just have to add one very UNLUCKY wallet in Nige's pocket!
  5. YEAH ... but anyway ... TOPIC HIJACK OVER!!! ... THIS IS CONFIRMED AS THE MISSUS'S NEW ENDURO BIKE ... order was placed last week for the Frame http://www.julianabicycles.com/bikes/furtado/primeiro/images/furtado-primeiro-3Q.jpg Building it up with Full XT groupset, Hope hubs on Stans rims, and Rock Shox Revelation 140mm Going to Christen it either in Lesotho on some big mountain trails, or at Dumbe Lodge on Retiefs Pass
  6. OATH! ... I heard a couple of crackers ... Now to be absolutely fair .. Singletrack is not for everyone and every rider has their own tastes, but still .. come on ... B&B's slogan is "Proper Mountain Biking" ... so if you cant (or are too scared) to ride something ... dont complain and then walk down the trail holding up a trail of 15 people behind you who can ride a section. Jeepers there were some attitudes out on the weekend ... BUT AGAIN .. it was an AWESOME Event ... Already looking to see if I can organise an Enduro there.
  7. Ok so i know its not exactly a "Bike" pic .... But coming off Berg and Bush where the Marathon-style mentality of SA is plain to see when people are complaining about groomed singletrack being too difficult ..... I thought i'd just share this pic of Marco Fontana ... XCO racer! ... DESTROYING the rocks at Final Ligures Enduro. There is a true MTB rider ... wish i could be like that and be as good at XC and then also slay the Enduro like a BOSS. http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb10233747/p4pb10233747.jpg
  8. I'll take option A thank u!
  9. Oh I do dont worry. Mate of mines just moved up to JHB, and is wishing he was back here so he could ride Giba and KArkloof with us.. But for u okes above the Vaal ... u can easily make a plan with Lee from Go Green Safaris ... they can do private weekends around Spionkop etc ... OK its 4 hours drive - but for a weekend where you can custom make your route etc ... thats worth it. You stay in the Tugela River Lodge ( I think) .. and then ride every day ... Im looking at getting two 8-bike trailers and going there and shuttling Spionkop for a day ... Drive up - Ride down!
  10. Totally ... skids, buck jumps and wheelies are the way of the future in MTB.
  11. hahahaha classic - but its a cool piece of trail ... I think it would have been *** to ride though (that Climb up to the viewing point) as it would have been like riding in peanut butter ... From the top down to there and then that descent on the backside of Spionkop would have been AMAZING as far as im concerned. But then again, thats me ... and i was told on at least 3 occasions this weekend that i have a screw or 2 loose after passing people in the air over rocks etc. hahaha
  12. We still got to ride Long Drop Pass though ... we entered from Everest side and climbed up to it ... that was still slick for the front teams, but by the time i got there it was perfectly tacky.
  13. Yeah also they said the chopper couldnt get off the ground as the cloud was too low. - But then again i was under the opinion that the chopper was for video not medical ... but anyway. The issue would have been Skeletons loop where it is very exposed and if something went wrong there there could have been an issue. The rest of the trails were fine ... IMO i would have liked to have gone up ... but then again, I revel in those slippery loose conditions. I know for a fact that 3 of the 6 people in my riding crew would have hated it ... so going up to please 1 of 6 ... I think Gary made the sensible choice in sending us around
  14. Had a good giggle at the one chick on day 2 when we hit the river crossing before the first water point ... she proclaimed after dropping down that bank before the bridge "am I the only one looking forward to Kims K*k Off?? ... cus this is so scary!" hahahaha
  15. I think it was either luck of the draw or where you were batched. Riding with the Missus and her sister and ballie and mates in "F"un batch was cool. but just meant we had a bit of a wait on our hands. Wasnt a huge problem, just got a bit chilly. Agreed that Gary and his crew do a fantastic job with that event. Have loved all 5 of the ones i have done. Enjoy the fact that it still has a family vibe about it ... and everyone can enjoy the event. Even the non riders
  16. Except for waiting for 20min in the cold ... even those rain jackets didnt help. Not sure what it was, but last year the boat loading was a lot slicker ... we hardly queued at all. Anyway. Shouldnt complain as its really cool that the farmers are so obliging and do this for us. Had a jol, but have had better ... think it was the cold on Day 1 that put a damper on things ... and the fact that we couldnt go up spionkop. Thats the whole reason you go and do that race. However Safety comes first
  17. That is very worrying ... The natural trails are what make this event what it is ... by "dumbing" the trails down to accommodate more riders it will ruin the nature of the event IMO .... Will see on Saturday i suppose.
  18. Coming off Spionkop there is often a bit of traffic through Princess Margret drive (i have been held up pretty bad here in years past) But there are often dual track sections where you can make a quick duck here and there .. and then also open sections where you can ask nicely and dudes will let you past. Most of it is not too bad as its a lot of jeep track rather than pure singletrack. Before the boat crossing there is a climb there that is singletrack and was ALWAYS conjested, until last year when they set up the 10min starting gaps of the batches ... was cool and flowed fine ... and I start in like F (for FUN!) Best is to get to the top of Spionkop ... smash an icecold Beer and then haul arse down off the hill again
  19. jeepers it seems a lot of riders forget the main reason why they ride ... to have FUN.... No matter what the weather ... For me this weekend is gonna be all about Wheelies, Skids and Buckjumps off every rock or bump possible! .... and just plain old FUN on the bike ... Have even put on an old knackered back tyre so that my skids can be even more epic.
  20. @ Barhugger - not as far as windguru is predicting
  21. glad i didnt try and wait it out then
  22. so what happened after the wind delay? I went to bed. did they cancel the 2nd runs? cus the results were the same as from the first runs. Still think McGarry should have taken it. Thought Andrea's run was insane too
  23. no thats a Mitch Ropelato reference i think
  24. Mc Garrys flip over the canyon was insane ... sorry but i think that puts Zinks flip off the Sender to shame. (although that flip that Zink landed was F-ing HUGE!
  25. all i see is http://www.1stplacesupply.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/cactus.jpg in Ass
