  1. I’ve flown multiple times with a bike and with other people who have bikes, never had such an issue or done that. But I will definitely take note.
  2. For anyone perhaps having the same question as I had, all went smoothly. Wrapped the bag at the airport (cost double a normal suitcase despite being rolled down as small as possible). Bag went off with suitcases, no issues. On the SA side it came out at oversized goods, will definitely do this again.
  3. Shouldn’t be an issue, if you’re worried then spatter some mud or dirt on the bike and tell them you’ve been cycling if they ask, shouldn’t go any further than that.
  4. That’s the backup plan, I’m not such a fan of the boxes, used them on national flights and had one torn open a bit, now it’s bag only if I can help it.
  5. Thanks, sounds like it will be fine then to just rock up and check it in.
  6. Hi, So I need to fly my empty (titan racing) bike bag back to SA to fetch a second bike. Has anyone done this or know if this could be an issue? It will be folded down and is within Qatar's size limits but would they maybe want to take it to fragile/oversized goods anyway? Will they have a problem with an empty bag of this nature? Any input or advice will be appreciated
  7. I can vouch for the Titan having bought one a few months ago and it’s great (for my L xc bike, I have no idea what an XL enduro bike would do). I looked at the bike boxes but they push you over the weight limit, although I suspect that may in anycase happen with an enduro bike?
  8. Pity, I’ll do some more research but sadly I think that’s probably the right choice.
  9. Thanks ,does it at all feel a bit short? Or spot on?
  10. I wouldn’t say that😂 It is a great deal but alas the sizing is a curved ball. fingers crossed that someone can clear it up 100%
  11. Well I’ve always liked the madone, I’m going second hand and I can get a really great deal on this bike. Of course I’m open to other options but this is my favourite pick. I’ve raced a bit of xc and I would like to try my hand at some road races. I ride a really aggressive position so I think that will be alright. I plan to use it for all round use ,there’s a lot of mountain passes in my new country so I have thought maybe a all out climbing bike would be better but after a lot of consideration I decided an all round bike will suit better and I’ve read the madone climbs quite well too.
  12. Thanks ,then I think I should be alright on the 58, I hope.
  13. Thanks ,I am now even more skeptical, I really like the bike though.
  14. Thanks, I would definitely want to do that, unfortunately I have just emigrated to a country where cycling doesn't seem to be a much of a thing and I have yet to find a fitter here. How tall are you if they say 56 when you need a 53? My fear biggest worry is that I am only 1cm into the 58 cat according to their charts, however my inseam puts me squarely into the 58, or so they say. I do however like a longer bike, I run a 110mm stem on my L MTB. Perhaps I should rather look for a 56?
  15. Good day all So I am looking to get my first road bike, I've found one that I like (a 2021 trek madone SLR). However while reading up on these bikes I've read a fair bit about the sizing on theses bikes being a bit out and seat masts being incorrect lengths for the sizes resulting in riders not being able to set the saddle low enough even when they are on the larger end of the size spectrum. I am 181cm tall and have an inseam of about 83-84cm, trek size charts say I should be on a 58cm frame. I will unfortunately not be able to go test the bike, it would be shipped to me and I don't want the bike to arrive and its too big for me. Does anyone perhaps have some experience with this size dilemma or know more specifically if it would work/not work for me? Much appreciated
  16. This guy tried me as well the other day for a wanted add I have.
  17. I run a 36 oval so you could max run a 38 but it’s tight. However @Titan Racing Bikes recommends no larger than a 36 for other reasons aside from just fit
  18. So far my favourites are syncros foam grips ,those octagonal kind of ones. Not easy to find though. Super comfy, my hands get sore quickly but not with those.
  19. Will the new bikes be UDH compatible?
  20. Thanks a million. I will transfer in Qatar but but still be on a Qatar flight. so all the same stuff as national flights then? once again thanks a lot
  21. @capediver do you specify when booking your ticket that you have bike or not?
  22. Thanks, I will take a look since I also fly Qatar
  23. Thanks a lot. How much do your bags weigh?
  24. Good day all. I am leaving SA soon and plan on taking my bike. I have previously flown nationally with a regular box from the bike shop but I would like to get a bike bag now. I have a size L titan racing RS ultimate. I am looking at the evoc bags (on the hub) or a titan racing bag which I kind of am leaning to since I already support the brand. does anyone have experience with these bags in a side by side comparison? I obviously would prefer a lighter one so as to pack helmets and shoes and what have you's in. I also am unsure which ones are a tighter fit or won't work for a mtb. Maybe @Titan Racing Bikes can weigh in on your bag's? I have never flown International with a bike, are there any additional costs or can I simply check it in as one of my bags? Any info/recommendations will be appreciated.
