  1. I want to import a bike with the value of R23000,R35000 in SA. Can anyone tell me if there is import taxes on sport goods, and if,how much the R23k will become after everything's been added.Where can I get info on this kind of stuff? Cheers
  2. There's no such thing as over training, just under recovery! Anyway, that,s what they say.I get sick very easily, been sick 3 times this winter, but recovery is very fast, one week and I'm ready to go. I've got 2 snotty toddlers, that is where the problem lies!I'm 12hr's on a bike, runs 40km.If I don't do these hrs I loose my edge. So,I take my rest weeks when I'm ill. But,fact is when you're fit your immune system is down and compromises will have to be made. cheers
  3. Hi guys, Some general knowledge I would like some info on: First, this is my scenario and how I often I do maintenance and cleaning: After every ride I wash my bike, clean the chain with chain cleaner and then lube it with wax based lube. I lube all the moving parts on FD and RD+cables ect... I never ride cross chain, always try and keep the chain in a straight as possible line. I'm from the Karoo,so it's always dusty, but hardly wet and muddy. So? How much km can I get out of a chain? How much out of cassette? Chainrings? Derailurs? Shifters ect... Thanks guys
  4. Best advise, Go and see a dietitian. Not everyone is the same,so there is no real middle ground that applies to everyone.I went to one because of a stomach ailment.I was send for some blood tests(R3000) later and I now know what is going on in my body.I was anemic, iron count of one.No carbs after 4,only 2 fruit per day,I tend to have a sugar issue. all sorts of stuff out of balance. I only ate carbs and trained like a animal.Lost so much weight that My body started on bone marrow for energy, after the fat was devoured! All this tips about eating in magazines could be dangerous to ones health.Go and see one, will be the best investment you ever make.If you know what's going on in your body, you know what to prevent and how to tune it to perform at its full potential!
  5. I just had to put off a mtb race that I'm very sorry about due to very light symptoms of the flue. But i'm not regretting it,like Zimo's case it could get very bad if you train when sick.I think it's very brave and wise to stop everything when one is sick to prevent major damage.
  6. Hi Guys, Doing the Karoo to coast on Sunday, and with my bloody luck I fell ill,3rd time this year.I don't know what it is(cold, flue, aids).I've not got a sore throat,no coughs, just dizzy. How dangerous is it to take part in a bike race, straining ones heart ect..... I've heard of guys training when they were sick and had to get heart transplants!!hectic, don't want that, but I really want to do the race. Any sound advice??? cheers
  7. Yep, It was really awesome, hats of to Pieter Smit and the boys who layed out the course!!
  8. I just bought the RS800 CX PTE,amazing computer with all the functions and more. On the hub I met Maryke Verster, she is a sport scientist. I aked her to write me a training program to make the fancy watch do what it was designed for. I've been on a interval training program now for 2 weeks, doing a 10km run in the mornings and a 40km mtb ride in the evenings,4 times a week.I rest on Wednesdays,Saturday is a long bike ride and Sunday a long run. When I started program I ran 10km in 55 minutes, now I run 46 min, getting faster and faster. 40km bike rides took me 2 hrs,I'm down to 1.43 hr now.My fastest time was the day after a race that I finished 11th,kicking dust in the eyes of guys that did the Epic and Trans Baviaans this year. My recovery time is very rapid between sets, letting me go for it km after km. My body has responded very well to this sort of training. Give Maryke a shout at:maryke.verster87@gmail.com she knows her story.
  9. A bowl of Oats mixed with coconut, cranberries and Quinoa.Quinoa is the new super grain. The carb, protein and fat balance is perfect. This stuff is like legal cheating!!
  10. o yes, you get Peptopro Sport wich is mixed with a carb mix,but last only for a few servings, the price almost the same as just the normal one wich last ages.I use it for running, swimming and biking.enjoy
  11. Hi Kaka, Peptopro repair muscle damage(building)during excercise. It contains no carbs,so the energy drink of choise gives the energy, but in conjunction with Peptopro wich just gives you the legs when needed.i did a 130km mtb ride this past weekend, never bonked, never had weak legs.Sip it every 30min,or 15 min intervals. And it is so effective in repairing damage muscle, that you'll never have sore legs.I vote for this stuff,it's very easy on the stomach, never eyeing out the next bush for a upset tummy. Try it,you'll never ride without it.
  12. Be glad you do'nt have a GT with idrive, creak like hell!!!
  13. Don't know what's worse, the smell or the taste!!Leave a empty bottle that contained Peptopro for a day, smeeeeeeeeeeelly!! It taste best with Grape flavoured Energade. You get about 40 servings from a tub, where from USN epic Pro only about half that,so it's really cheap in comparison.
  14. Hi Guys, How often should one pack bearings with grease.I've read on a site every 100 miles for a mtb,but that sounds a bit to often. cheers
  15. If you are training hard and want to recover fast during long sessions,Peptopro is the answer. It consists of peptides(protein) that repair muscle damage. There is no carbs, you mix it with your choise of energy drink.Training on a empty stomach is bad news.A car cant run on a empty tank, neither can you. Potatoes, sweetpotatoes are better sources of energy than choclates,it's low gi and does'nt spike energy levels like sweets. Training is 60% eating,40% training.
