It was Epic,more walking than the Pioneer of last year.Love the hype and everything that is the Epic.Well done to Dr.Evil for a tough route.I'll be back next year if God permits.

I'm a Scott fan,bought the expert.upgraded to xx groupset and crest wheelset.the bike is now 9.5kg.I'm on my second frame as the wheel is touching the left chainstay.The backweel is not centre.I got a new frame and still the same problem.The guys from Scott now tune that I musnt change wheels or tires,what bull is that.I dont think I'll buy Scott again.

Doing my first Epic,very amped to ride it!I got a sponser,would never pay the entry fee.Did the CPT last year and I know the Epic's not going to be as nice.I'm going to miss Oom Katots sadistic trails.But,I'll try to enjoy it

I started cyling when I was 33,bought a dual suss GT force.soon sold that and bought a carbon hardtail 26er.Soon sold that and bought a 45k Carbon hardtail 29er.Did a 6;05 at Atta this weekend.Moral of the story: Buy a bike that is just a bit to expensive for you,you defs will be upgrading from a 4k bike every month! Age got nothing to do with it,the older I get the harder I get and defs a lot stronger!

Hi, Did the Attakwas and dropped my chain 5 times in the first 40km,irritating,missed a sub 6 because of that! I run a long cage rd. I also run Truvativ 39t big ring and not the XX version(expensive) When I replace chain en blade it still happens down the bumpy stuff. Any advice on this what the problem can be? cheers

I did the Pioneer on Scott Scale 29er and my personal opinion is that if you're light and fit you do'nt need a 29er FS!The Sunday after I already forgot I rode 700km the week before!I might consider getting a FS the day I turn 50.

Start slowly and taper of immediately!! Also doing the race,did it last year as well.Drink a lot of beers and eat loads of hot dogs,that is always a good strategy for Elands pass on Sunday morning!

The pioneer was an awesome experience!Oom Katot is a master sniffing out impossible little rocky trails,stage 2, Pebble beach was one of them!!Thanks Oom I broke my xx rd! It was tough for sure,but the lovely water tables made up for it. I've not done the Epic and don't want to for that amount of money either!The perks at the Pioneer are also much nicer.We each got First Ascent soft shell garments worth a R1000 and a FA t shirts(like Attakwas) The race village is sooooo nice,rubbing shoulders with world champs and all. The Pioneer Trek is on my list every year till the day I die! Viva Dryland and DCM Cape Pioneer Trek! I'm not one to wish my life away,but damn I wish it was October 2012 already!
