  4. Giant still much better value currently - especially in the TT department - less money, Ultegra, all the accessories, an ISM saddle, plus carbon base bar and extensions... https://www.giant-bicycles.com/za/trinity-advanced-pro-2 vs https://feltbicycles.co.za/collections/triathlon-bikes/products/ia-advanced-rim-brake-105-2020
  5. Looks like the event is cancelled...

  7. I also used to struggle a LOT with gels. I have recently been them into my training rides and my system is now getting used to them. It can be expensive, but you can't expect your body to just adapt on race day to a new type of nutrition - especially if you are pushing your body at the same time
  8. Thanks. Will reach out if I don't come right - Orca international have reached out
  9. Haha! Funny Yeah, it's not ideal hey
  10. Hi all. Just a word of warning - recently purchased an Orca 226 suit for the wife and myself. After my first race, my wife pointed out that while on the bike, the rear is completely see through. Shocking for a top end suit from reputable brand. I have tweeted and mailed them, but no response as yet. Happy tri'ing
  11. Do you have contact details for this?
  12. It's R2180 for items costing R2100
  13. Ok, so If she takes the invoice with to the post office, how the heck does she contest the charge? The PO are useless
  14. Morning hubbers. My wife ordered me some clothing online for my bday coming up. She just messaged to say the post office slip states that it's arrived, but she has to pay 100% of what the items cost online. WTF?! The items are clothing. Has anyone had an experience like this? 100%? That's insane! Is there any way to contest this? Thanks in advance! Scrumpy
  15. How much? DM me the details please
  16. My 2XU compression full piece tri suit knocks all my bibs out the park. My bibs range from mid to top level - aka R2k shorts. It is thinner, but I recently did a 154km ride and NO pain or chaffing. I would recommend a quality brand though. I have had 2 2XU compression suit and have no complaints
  17. On the way back out of Camps bay on my brick run I encountered Greg from the VW cycling club pushing his bike one footed. He had broken his chain and was trying to get himself to the finish. I decided, as I was going back that way anyway, that I would jump into the road and give him some assistance. For the next 2.5km I pushed Greg while running beside him up some hills and along the flats until he could coast down at Bantry Bay hill where he then met up with another cyclist and they did some tow-glide work together. What a great guy. We had an awesome chat and was just an all round awesome experience. Greg, wherever you are. I am glad you got to finish your race. Your will to push on and finish really inspired me. I think you may owe my legs a beer as they aren't as chuffed Made for good training though. Thanks, Scrumpy
  18. Seeding seems to always be a topic post any "big" event. There are tons of other races to perform in where the "weekend warriors" are not participating. Race those ones and just take the bigger ones as they come? I do think that some work needs to happen with the seeding in terms of the safety aspect. Having riders who clearly don't know how to bunch ride or hold lines through corners (never mind the wind issue) makes it VERY unsafe for themselves and fellow riders. I'm sure those riders also k*k themselves being surrounded by competent racers. I saw some very white faced mtb "commuters" who had started in D/E/F groups... This was my first Argus and I absolutely loved it. The start system needs some work, but hey, they handles 30 000 odd riders pretty well. As said before, this is a large race. I knew this and got to the start early. Yes, this means waking up a little earlier and being chilly for an hour prior to starting. So what?! It's all part of the event. The only concern I had on the day was safety. I have never seen so many crashes at an event. Even mtb races have fewer falls I know the wind was an issue, but the development and "bumped" seeded riders issue needs to be addressed. That crash early on on the M3 (probably J/K group riders) was horrendous! maybe 20 riders went down at 40kph? More than likely due to someone who does not know how to ride in a bunch properly. All round though - props to the organisers and a big Fu to the Cape Doctor - could have been a sub 3 Happy with the 3:27 though! Scrumpy

    Argus 2014

My First Argus. Started in L. Was chilly and windy at the start. The first 10kms were rough. Was considering pulling out and going back to the hotel, but decided was good training for potential PE wind for Ironman. Had to stop to raise my seat post as it slipped down 2cm from the start. Felt like a rodeo clown riding a vmx From there, Glen Cairn, I loved the race! Ok, maybe not so much the section after Simons town to Smitswinkle. Hundreds of riders full width of the road. People chaining lines left right and centre (pun intended). Some of the development riders need to be taught how to race and ride in bunches. Some seriously uncool manoeuvring... Met up with a mate just before Smitswinkle and we decided to drop the hammer over the top. That section was fast! We were cruising along at around 56kph on those flats. Some interesting little "bumps" in the road there... We didn't kill the ride, but managed to come in around 3:27. Very happy with that and loved the ride. 94.7 is going to be flipping mundane from now on Argus is a definite yearly fixture now on. Big rave for Focus On The Finish Line for the epic service in getting our bikes down and what not. Drop off was 300m from the finish. Will definitely use them again! The 17km run after hurt though. This Ironman stuff is a little crazy! Still managed 4:50 per k. So chuffed with that (Tell that to my legs though ) Well done all and hope all that crashed a speedy return to the fiets! Scrumpy

    Argus 2014

The start got mixed up at L/M group - some guys went early off front of L (my group) and the announcers then forgot about the rest of the group and moved onto M... we got his attention, but then we had to wait for M's start time, so every group was then delayed by 4mins
  21. I will do whatever it takes to supper this idea!

  24. I love the hub community! A great fellow hubber is giving me his 56cm Felt S32... for free! How the hell is that? Totally paying this forward! Thank you kind sir! Scrumpy
