  1. I sat in a "bunch" to Joe Slovo. Then on my own the whole way. Came in 2:59:52. I wouldn't begrudge someone who had the opportunity to sit in a bunch and come in sub 3. They still made it around the same "track" as I did. Doesn't matter how, as long as it's within the rules of cycling. Do you think the chaps on "le Tour" would be able to do what they do solo? No. If you, the OP, want to test yourself as an individual, then join us for Ironman sometime. Or take part in a TT
  2. Twas my fourth and PB'd by 37mins! Broke 3hr - 2:59:52 - Too close for comfort, but I'll take it! Great race, best I've done. Support was epic and as always, organisation was phenomenal. I think the results are still provisional lads and ladies. Reckon they going on start time from gun and finish with chip. Hopefully will be updated today or tomorrow
  3. R600 indeed
  4. What glasses do you use? Try a pair of vented glasses that have sweat absorption/dispersion like the Adidas Evil Eyes
  5. I wore an open top peak, couldn't get to my sunscreen after race (was in transition)... Got a lekker rooi kop
  6. I think people are far too quick to jump to ranting in these circumstances. Maybe sit down and considered what goes into organising an event like this... You're one person out of how many entrants? You interact as an individual to the administrate for events. It is NOT the same the other way around... How many communications are these admins dealing with daily? When signing up and paying for an event of this nature, you agree to the terms and conditions they set. It is their event, not yours. They determine what they are prepared to do or not. That's up to them. Then they put those terms in writing for everyone to read and accept (or not accept). I am sorry that your wife had an accident and is not able to compete. This is the nightmare we all dread when signing up and training for such an event, but life happens. Sorry to say, but it does. There are many things wrong in the world. Most, way worse than not being able to sub an entry for an event. Rather spend your time and effort helping your wife recover and getting ready for the next one Life is to short to rant over such things (still learning this )
  7. Eish! Sounds hectic. Hope she is ok and recovers quickly
  8. Ok... so no Will go with the local store (Local is lekker)
  9. Cost so far: 3T ErgoNova Pro Bars (Alu) - £57.99 3T Arx Pro Stem - £29.49 Shipping - £6.50 Total: £93.98 Exchange at R16.1438 to £ (FNB) Total in Rand: R1517,20 Can get this all locally for around R2k Worth it?
  10. CRC still looking cheaper than the rest... Well, at least on 3T stuff I want
  11. Hmmm, thanks for all the comments lads. Still feeling in the dark Will check out mentioned stores though. Thanks!
  12. Hey hubbers. Need an upgrade to my bars and stem. Been looking around and CRC are by faaar the cheapest. What would duties be on these items? Is it worth it? Thanks, Scrumpy
  13. Not good Praying for full and quick recovery
  14. CycleFit set me up and I've never been happier! And it won't hurt the bank like some other set ups out there. Don't think that you get less "set up" cause it's a better price. CycleFit are very technical - Measure all geometry, film side on and from the front. Before and after videos are astonishing! I didn't think much would change, but I was wrong. Even the smallest adjustments made the biggest difference. From 1 100km ride to the next (after set up) I felt so much stronger and more efficient on the bike! Back at the car park after both rides - worlds apart. 1st week - dead, second week, fresh-ish
  15. CycleFit all the way! Great guys, great studio - and the price! Never been happier on the bike!
  16. Not "thankles"? Thigh into foot.....
  17. I'm in J with a mate of mine, both after sub 3
  18. Also in a "space" situation... Currently bikes stacked next to the staircase. Not ideal as our domestic worker keeps "rearranging" them when she cleans (worry all day my babies will be "hurt" ) Been thinking/looking into options and I'm quite keen on making them part of the home decor. Some options I've been looking at: 1) Putting something like this together, on rollers (have 4 bikes) - stack them together and slide each "out" when needed. I may be keen to start a small business making these for hubbers in need (Would also bring costs down) http://p-ec2.pixstatic.com/51bc54b8d9127e25ab000aeb._w.540_s.fit_.jpg 2) Displaying them as "art" (various options) http://0.lushome.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/cycle-parking-bike-storage-rack-room-decorating.jpg http://2-ps.googleusercontent.com/x/www.trendhunter.com/cdn.trendhunterstatic.com/thumbs/xvery-nice-bike-rack.jpeg.pagespeed.ic.0nBXNLildd.jpg
  19. I'm so chuffed this worked out the way it has Albeit a bit disappointing from ASG's side. I understand companies run budget for these things, but then to go on and say that they will give BACK 10% of what is spent by the people trying to make this happen (exploitation much?) over the next given period is just daft. When a company makes as much as ASG does, it shouldn't be that hard to "find" 5-10k... Just my opinion here... don't any of you go raging at me

  21. Hey hubbers. Looking to get my wife a new pair of mtb shoes and can grab a good deal on the new 2013 Specialized Motodiva Womens shoe. Anyone used them and can assist with review? Thanks! Scrumpy
  22. @FacePlant - You are correct, but what I meant, in light of what was being said/asked, was that even if it's colder than 22 you may not be allowed to wear your wetsuit. Ie, the temp is NOT the deciding factor - can't bank on a yes or no for wetsuits, but thanks for clearing it up
  23. Totally agree with Jonnow *Thumbs up*
  24. Chip systems are used and can differ between races depending on the organisers and sponsored timing... Spectrum Sport - BSG I think Champion Chips are used as well for some events
  25. Must say, 3 sessions in, I am IN LOVE with this kind of training. Very specific to the individual. Feeling gains already!!! Agree with Rabbit and Bastardo with adding another session, preferably a tempo (can do as many extra sessions at no cost, just check with the studio, but rest and recovery is vital...) @Batsardo - how's the Triathlon prep coming along?
