  1. I work in Parkmore (sandton) and travel there and back (live in Hyde Park). I do the 5pm class. Come in early on my cadence days and duck out at 4pm. Takes me 20mins through river club/bryanston
  2. Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada http://www.ironman.com/triathlon/events/americas/ironman-70.3/world-championship.aspx#axzz2lHBUJjp3
  3. Sounds like you're in good stead then! I'd try get some brick sessions in before the real training starts. Just 2-3km of 80% effort off the bike. Good luck man! We should do a weekend training ride sometime
  4. Thanks man! Been some seriously hard work, but well worth it!
  5. I would say start now... increase your base (I assume you are already fit as a 12 week plan isn't for beginners) over December and start the program in Jan. You should already be able to swim around 2km, bike for 3 (at a decent pace without resting) and run 15km or around an hour and a half in order for 12 weeks to be enough.
  6. @Stiffy Hey bud. I am doing 70.3, argus, two oceans and IM. I don't think your argus will be affected. Choose what your goal is and focus on that. Fit the other stuff around that
  7. Look into http://www.cadencecycling.co.za - They are in Fourways (above old cycle lab store). My wife and I have been doing it for a year now and absolutely love it (well, not during most of the sessions ). We have seen amazing results. I have increased my power output by 40% from starting. Threshold power was 235 watts and I am now at 322 watts. More importantly I started at a power to weight ratio of 2.7 watts/kg and I am now at just over 4 watts/kg. To put this into persecutive, I have taken about 48mins off my 100km bike times (road). There is also another company starting up using Watt Bikes (What the british olympic cyclists train on). They will be operating from the Dimension Data campus from next month I think. Cadence is around R600 p/m and Wattlab will be around R900 p/m. Hope this helps!
  8. Well, we generally start from Something Country (near Kloofzight). From their you can do any number of distances. Caves and back - 25km Cradle loop - 30km Caves + loop - 46.5km You don't need to be a pro or über fit to ride at the cradle! Can do as little or as much as you want
  9. I'm in Hyde Park - ride cradle most weekends. Riding MTB moddefontein this Sat and Sun at the cradle. Always space for more people! Cradle will be quiet this weekend... (no 94.7 last weekend training )
  10. I am currently running a set on my Trigon RQC 29 and love them! Been riding them for a year and absolutely no problem. Good weight and super strong
  11. I sat in a "bunch" to Joe Slovo. Then on my own the whole way. Came in 2:59:52. I wouldn't begrudge someone who had the opportunity to sit in a bunch and come in sub 3. They still made it around the same "track" as I did. Doesn't matter how, as long as it's within the rules of cycling. Do you think the chaps on "le Tour" would be able to do what they do solo? No. If you, the OP, want to test yourself as an individual, then join us for Ironman sometime. Or take part in a TT
  12. Twas my fourth and PB'd by 37mins! Broke 3hr - 2:59:52 - Too close for comfort, but I'll take it! Great race, best I've done. Support was epic and as always, organisation was phenomenal. I think the results are still provisional lads and ladies. Reckon they going on start time from gun and finish with chip. Hopefully will be updated today or tomorrow
  13. What glasses do you use? Try a pair of vented glasses that have sweat absorption/dispersion like the Adidas Evil Eyes
  14. I wore an open top peak, couldn't get to my sunscreen after race (was in transition)... Got a lekker rooi kop
  15. I think people are far too quick to jump to ranting in these circumstances. Maybe sit down and considered what goes into organising an event like this... You're one person out of how many entrants? You interact as an individual to the administrate for events. It is NOT the same the other way around... How many communications are these admins dealing with daily? When signing up and paying for an event of this nature, you agree to the terms and conditions they set. It is their event, not yours. They determine what they are prepared to do or not. That's up to them. Then they put those terms in writing for everyone to read and accept (or not accept). I am sorry that your wife had an accident and is not able to compete. This is the nightmare we all dread when signing up and training for such an event, but life happens. Sorry to say, but it does. There are many things wrong in the world. Most, way worse than not being able to sub an entry for an event. Rather spend your time and effort helping your wife recover and getting ready for the next one Life is to short to rant over such things (still learning this )
  16. Eish! Sounds hectic. Hope she is ok and recovers quickly
  17. Ok... so no Will go with the local store (Local is lekker)

  19. CRC still looking cheaper than the rest... Well, at least on 3T stuff I want
  20. Hmmm, thanks for all the comments lads. Still feeling in the dark Will check out mentioned stores though. Thanks!
  21. Hey hubbers. Need an upgrade to my bars and stem. Been looking around and CRC are by faaar the cheapest. What would duties be on these items? Is it worth it? Thanks, Scrumpy
  22. Not good Praying for full and quick recovery
  23. CycleFit set me up and I've never been happier! And it won't hurt the bank like some other set ups out there. Don't think that you get less "set up" cause it's a better price. CycleFit are very technical - Measure all geometry, film side on and from the front. Before and after videos are astonishing! I didn't think much would change, but I was wrong. Even the smallest adjustments made the biggest difference. From 1 100km ride to the next (after set up) I felt so much stronger and more efficient on the bike! Back at the car park after both rides - worlds apart. 1st week - dead, second week, fresh-ish
