  1. You're up early Mr 4 Eyes!! Any eye comments from that side? Maybe the wheel will have more momentum if it wears Oakleys!!
  2. the wheel will go faster because of the loss of mass it had to carry and the law of conservation of momentum / energy. The moment the wheel is detached from the axle- 2 things happen at the same time - 1. it looses the mass 2. It still has the same kinetic energy as when it was attached to the axle. Less mass, same amount of energy= acceleration (that's why small guys climb faster than big guys using the same amount of energy) after that it will start to loose energy and go slower because of external forces Many other factors, but I think this sums it up.
  3. I have used the cull carbon shell saddles, they are not bad at all - takes about 5 rides to get used to it and then it is as comfortable as any other. Hi Fishy - how are you doing?
  4. Have to agree 1. frame 2. wheels 3. grouppo
  5. Guys please remember that the manufacturer also has to cover himself in a way. I don't know about the other companies and brand names in SA, but I can only speak for myself (Token ) - if there is a defect - and it really happened during the manufacturing of the part- the few times this has happened - I have never asked if it still belongs to the first owner. If it is about service, you work around it. If it is a second hand frame and just outside the warranty period, then you still offer something - even if in the end it is a new frame at cost or something like that. It is not standard procedure for us, but every case is treated and evaluated individually.
  6. Token has a Titanium Range - called Atik. www.atik.cc Someone needs more info regarding the alloys used and the manufacturing. Let me know. For Prices- you can contact Tokenfreak or Jason Wallace.
  7. Mampara Those are new ones, but I admit that I have to brush up on my MTB info. I have seen them around the office, but never stopped to look at them. I will check in on that and let you know. About the price - you have to ask Tokenfreak (Arno) 072 9614 900 tribalcycles@gmail.com in the Cape (he is also the agent for SpinnerUSA suspension forks) or Jason ( 084 888 1221 ) e-mail: cycles@mweb.co.za if you're in Gauteng, whoever is closest. Let me know if there is anything else.

  12. I agree with Willehond. Don't run away from something, Run to something! I left SA more than 7years ago. Didn't leave with the intention of emigrating. It was something different, got bored and was in the dreaded groove!!!! decided to go for only a year. Culture shock was a major issue here in Taiwan!!! You cannot imagine another culture being so far removed from what we are used to. Nothing and I mean nothing is done in the same way. You come over here - you are totally illiterate, can't read, can't write, can't speak the language- nothing---- vast majority of people cannot communicate with you!! I enjoyed the whole environment- from the new food (Chinese in SA is not the real deal), crazy traffic, laid back life and then I met the bicycle people!! And I ended up meeting the love of my life- a SA girl, got married and we are still here and enjoying it more and more!! Our 2 boys were born here. Health care is excellent, great salary, (not a lot of public holidays though!!). We have many friends, Taiwanese from SA and all over the world!! BUT- I will always be a South African. We go home almost every year!! We are here because we like it, not because we don't like SA. We live here- we have a life and we are enjoying it. If I stayed in SA, I would never have been able to have the bikes I have now, to participate in so many races as I do now, to feel how it feels to ride for a team, because I have time to train and do better !! We can now afford to plan our holidays, to save some money! We give our kids the best we can! We live a quality life with our kids. I've met South Africans over here- you hear people ask them where they are from - England!! What the heck ??? We are proud to be South Africans and we make a point of being friendly and showing people where we are from! Iwear my Springbok and Blue Bulls Jersey with pride. And I am going to get South Africa screen printed on our new tri-suits for this racing season!! Go for it - if you are going to improve your life!! Don't listen to other people! It is easier without kids, but not at all impossible!! Pray and follow the answer!! That is my experience - for what it is worth!!!
  13. When we went to SA beginning of the year, there was a problem with the mail and our youngest couldn't get his passport. The Liaison office received it and the guy at the liaison Office in Taipei drove to us and gave it to us personally. Service!!!!
  14. Went back to SA beginning of the year for 4 weeks! Booked everything on line - from flights to car rentals - everything. Never confirmed anything. Hearing all the negative stuff about the incompetence in SA, I was a bit worried to say the least when we landed in Johannesburg. Went to the domestic flight check in with the print out- NO PROBLEM everything in order. 2 more flights later - in Cape Town- car rental -- didn't confirm for about 4months. What now? Got to the desk - saw an envelope with my name on behind the lady. No problem. Everything went smoothly. After the 4 weeks I can not say 1 negative thing about SA. I know I don't live there, but I can only speak from my last experience.
  15. Friends of ours went back to South Africa 2 weeks ago. Started setting up everything like internet and phone and so on while here in Taiwan. Lady said on the phone that she will call them back. Yea right - we thought!! SHE DID!! She called back all the way to Taiwan. When they got back in SA, everything was setup and ready to go!! No problems at all!!
  16. why not??
  17. Ja - Ironman is volgende maand in PE. Token het vir hulle 'n tribike frame en wheelset gesponsor. Klink my die manne oefen hard!! Jou verloofde ook nou hierdie kant by jou?
So dis maar besig as mens so veel moontlik probeer inpas. Hoe was jou Argus gewees?
  19. stem saam. Jy al begin fietsry daar oorkant?
  20. Au! Fishy Xie Xie Nin, Ni de Chongwen hen hau!! Ni shi wan shuo chongwen ma? this ping yin was never very easy to write!!
  21. Maybe I'm a bit late with the post, but we were at the bike show in Taipei till Sunday. You don't realize the value of being able to speak a language like Afrikaans. If someone said that Afrikaans is on its way out,my answer is - maybe in South Africa then, but not abroad. It is a very strong bond that links us together. Americans. Canadians, they're jealous of us being able to speak to each other in an exclusive language. And what we say - only a selected few will and can understand. They can only speak English (few Canadians can speak a little French), so whatever they say- all foreigners can understand and many Chinese can also understand them. My son - 3 years- is fluent in Chinese and Afrikaans ( we only speak Afrikaans to him at home) and he understands and speaks more than the basic English. Problem - we have to spell if we want to say something he shouldn't hear. When we speak Afrikaans to him, he will reply in Afrikaans and when we speak Chinese - he replies in Chinese and so on. If the language is diying, dieing or dyeing in SA, I don't know, but it will survive in other countries!!
  22. I would say go to Cape Town. Jonkershoek is there and Table Mountain. If you do a Google search on mountain biking in South Africa or in Cape Town, you'll find something, I'm sure. Enjoy!!
  23. Only listens on the indoor trainer or when climbing loooooong hills/mountains, 90% when I run. Thinking of getting it for the pool too!!
