  1. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/othersports/article-12409003/Ex-British-Cycling-Team-Sky-doctor-Dr-Richard-Freeman-handed-four-year-ban-doping-offences-ruled-taken-possession-prohibited-substance-lied-investigators.html - 15 August 2023 "In a seismic ruling that will send shockwaves through the sport, the medic was found to have taken possession of a prohibited substance and to have subsequently lied twice to anti-doping investigators. Freeman who worked closely with Sir Bradley Wiggins when he became the first Brit to win the Tour de France in 2012 and followed it up with Olympic gold, was the team physician in London and Rio four years later. His punishment marks the first time anyone associated with the staggering success story written in the Manchester velodrome HQ, where he and both British Cycling and Team Sky were based, and masterminded by Sir Dave Brailsford. In 2021, after a long-running medical tribunal that, at times, bordered on the farcical, Freeman was struck off having been found to have ordered 30 sachets of banned testosterone ‘knowing or believing it to be for an unnamed rider in May 2011 to improve their athletic performance’ to the Velodrome from a supplier in Oldham. He was also found to have instigated a staggering cover up, in which he persuaded an unwitting member of staff at the company to send an email wrongly stating that the Testogel sachets had been sent in error. At the tribunal, where emotions ran high, Freeman claimed the banned substance had been ordered on behalf of coach Shane Sutton to treat his alleged erectile dysfunction. The Australian, later called to give evidence at the hearing, rubbished those claims before storming out in disgust."
  2. Just fitted Vittoria Mezcal III XC-Race G2.0 rear and Barzo front. I’ve done 78km up and down and through valley trails these last two days and am impressed. I’ve previously preferred Rekon Race R and Ardent or Onza Canis F, yet this Vittoria combo feels like a step up for this tall 94kg guy over the rocks and roots and hardpack k's. The Mezcal is about 70 grams heavier than the Pirelli Scorpion RC Lite with a slightly harder and almost continuous centre tread. Solomon’s are doing a special at R700 for each of those Vittoria’s. I wanted re-taping on one and new valves and a rapid job so took the Vittoria bucket deal which LBSs are currently offering at 2k all in. Tyres, valves, tape and sealant.
  3. … are we? At any rate, thoroughly enjoy all the exchanges with all the informed and clever persons on here. Just saying.
  4. Errr… what? She’s popping off at a particular (No 21) Shimano neutral car already engaged with another rider while making no mention of her non-existent team support or support from her own SRAM sponsors??? Let’s be kind and say that your, and her, logic is somewhat uNoRtHoDoX.
  5. A bit of perspective as her team is in fact SDWorx (and SRAM) sponsored. Looooooong and weird stretch for her to be popping off at the Shimano neutral service, ain’t it? From her IG thread:
  6. A bit of farcical cringe. Clever and heartwarming bit about someone who has the intelligence of a speed bump. I’ve always thought that 'arry would be the frontrunner for any live action casting for a Beavis and Butthead movie.
  7. Harry Kane looked pleased and excited after completing his move. My fellow gooners and I are also well pleased, he scored far too many goals against us. I think no-one would be surprised if he scores even more at BM, as he won’t be asked to track back as much.
  8. A bit of mischief that has quite a few Spurs fans livid. Shouldn’t be falling for such an obvious windup.
  9. Will be watching with two mates who support those teams. Will be fascinating.
  10. Long overdue. I’ve never understood why football associations tolerate this. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2023/jul/31/football-referees-chief-howard-webb-says-behaviour-allowed-to-decline
  11. Ah yes, Dr Manto Babalastig-Msimang. She who was in earlier years fired from a hospital for liberating a patient’s watch. Also known for pilfering someone’s hat at a funeral with a five finger discount. Thanks for the read.
  12. It took several weeks after the theft of most of the electrical contractor neighbour's tools for me to find them behind one of the loads of trees at the bottom of my garden. The man was overjoyed at getting them back. I’d chased those burglars from my garden, and got so gatvol of chasing invaders that my home now resembles a prison with three layers of razor wire right around. "Fort (insert surname here)” my mates call it. Bikes, of course, still sleep in the entrance hall ready for daily action. They’re too pretty to be stored anywhere else.
  13. His insights are mostdef somewhat sharper than those of the usual suspects and more directly relevant. With maybe half a dozen immediately accessible live coverage choices, he’s made it my go-to channel.
  14. Properly styling!
  15. Much thanks for your generous gifting Barry, it fits perfectly. 🙏
  16. You might like UltimateStreaming. Been using them for a year, very broad range of channels and most cost-effective. Reliable service and some 4k channels and local channels and RBtv, among others. I’ve found that they quickly attend to server issues. No more than a couple of minutes a couple of times a month and patience is worthwhile. Malcolm is available for texts and calls (even today) at 069 430 7150. https://www.ultimatestreaming.co.za%2F&usg=AOvVaw0bpShZAOslEcDYwcsLw2wp&opi=89978449 I recommend favouring the European and Mid-East channels for the favourites folder ‘cos, unlike the N American channels in this service, they have schedules. 17. Please may I arrange and pay for packaging and collection for personal (meaning me and myself and I) use? And at a time that suits you.
  18. Until a decade ago I was doing loads of work in Mthatha and throughout Mpuma Kapa, and previously while working with the Health Department our health commission team took occupation of Mathanzima’s hilltop state residence in '94 and ’95. Perhaps the thinking was “just put the mlungu's team in the apartheid palace”. I am eternally grateful to the elderly gentleman who sidled up to me in central Mthatha during a work visit to that city in 2010. I may have been married to an isiXhosa woman for many years yet found the language and its intricacies difficult to learn. I often didn’t, or didn’t try to, get the conversations around me. The gent whispered “these guys behind us are discussing how they’re going to steal your car from you, go right now”. I’m still appreciative. We share approaches in one respect, on occasional visits to the ex in-laws west of Mthatha I completely avoid the centre of that blighted shitty.
