  1. As I imagine most of us have done, I’ve also intensely worked long hours under pressure to get through a ton of work. My longest spell was 62 hours without a moment’s break other than to make coffee. My team members worked lesser hours but with the same intensity. They HAD to get everything right at the right time. Perhaps this RB complainant needed closer guidance and direction. I’m convinced that later millenials and Gen Z’s are less willing and perhaps not geared for that. A few more experienced actors have said similar things about their much younger colleagues. With Gen Z’s it seems normal life trials are being pathologised. As an example: Quite a few employers in Europe are finding that Gen Z’s are demanding sick leave for relationship breakups. Nah, really.
  2. She has been and currently remains at work full-time.
  3. Are you playing or involved, mate? Are you still playing? I’d make an effort to catch Friday’s match but I can’t afford to travel to watch cricket any longer, as I once frequently did.
  4. Sheesh, what a sight. Still thrilling to see even though sea rescues and medevacs in storm seas was part of our job, including the Oceanos rescue. If I think back on how risky it sometimes was I find it remarkable how very few rescuers are ever seriously harmed or killed.
  5. Hah! Matt Berry’s always hilarious, I think some of his best work was in Toast of London.
  6. Great design too, clearly not a homage, love the dial too.
  7. I’ve heard of that, that's that thing that people who don’t have yachts do, riiiight?
  8. It only provides a platform for sellers and buyers. Despite their assurances, loads of fong kongs have been sold. They also charge retailers and dealers a fee for each sale, so there’s a good chance that you might get a better deal from an official retailer on eBay. I’ve had good Orient deals on eBay, quick too. The Blue Ray took 3 days to get from midwest USA to my local post office. Despite being only two blocks from me, the post office took 5 days to notify me. 0% duty on watches (just checked the SARS site to ensure it’s unchanged) but you will be charged VAT. I very much like the blue versions of the Mako and Ray and Kamasu, striking sunburst blue dials. Green Kamasu is great too imo.
  9. An ex president hawking shoes now?? That looks like Hulk Hogan’s idea of something classy to wear to the mall. Edit: Just remembered that Zuma hawked socks after his disastrous stint. “Two peas in a pod”, or should that be pees?
  10. Hah! Yes, lost both the rape defamation cases, lost the NY fraud case, lost the presidential immunity case in the capital Appellate Court with a unanimous judgement (including the judge that Trump had appointed). All in just a couple of weeks. Only 91 more felony criminal cases to go...
  11. Limited options as I hardly ever take pics with my visually limited old phone, my phones tend to last for ages.
  12. Nah those allegations usually reflect events as they happened. For one instance, Ronaldo’s fan boys keep dismissing evidence against him as fake. In fact, the leaked transcript from his first Las Vegas Police Department interview was published on the site Football Leaks. It’s just one of many thousands of authentic docs related to footie that were hacked. Ronaldo also added that he’d apologised because he’s not usually that rough. And yet the LVPD declined to prosecute. It’s tough enough gaining a conviction or some kind of acknowledgement through financial compensation. Even in the UK justice system less than 4% of sex assault-rape reports made to police go to court, and only around 1% result in conviction. I’ve seen how slanted against complainants the criminal justice system is wrt sex assaults in the cases of two friends. (Edit: Furthermore, an ex found that even her medical practitioner mom was disbelieving when she reported sex assault in her early teen years by a trusted family friend.) Abused women then also have to deal with the prejudices, or wilful ignorance of actual evidence, from the player’s fanboys. Despicable behaviour and even acknowledgement of guilt is glossed over, as in the Kobe Bryant case. At any rate, no presumption or prejudice against Horner without evidence.
  13. Who are you referring to here?
  14. The former Giro d’Italia winner Tao Geoghegan Hart wrote last year that “the sport of cycling in the UK is at a low that I’ve not seen during my time”. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2024/feb/06/cycling-boom-was-not-here-to-stay-and-lack-of-institutional-will-could-keep-it-away
  15. … or if you can stomach it, how about taken from source? England and pro footballer Andros Townsend’s dietician has him on a plate of chicken feet at supper every day.
  16. .
  17. Hah! There are several medical practitioners on here, and most hubbers are very well informed. FWIW, Mamil’s suggestions will work for more than just fungal infection/irritation. A couple of days use when necessary would be the first intervention. Burnshield gel or the bulbinella from my garden is great for mild skin irritation/insect bites. Don’t disregard your pharmacist as a great first port of call.
  18. TBF I won’t be surprised if it happens in a year or two. Been a while. Since last they won the league Wenger got his first pro player contract, won the French league as a player, retired, became a manager, won the French league as a manager, won the English league 3 times, retired as a manager.
  19. Not the best pic from me old phone, or me. I very much like an Orient and a Seiko as dailies, but I asked Swiss relatives about more affordable Swiss watchmakers with some heritage (simply not interested in Rolex and their dishonest marketing hype, for one). Roamer was one of those appreciated in Switzerland and I wanted to add a skeleton. Edit: A bit of Roamer infamy. Paul Tibbets wore a Roamer while piloting the Enola Gay to drop the atomic bomb over Hiroshima on 6 August 1945.
  20. It’s a stunt by an RET and WMC myth pushing Zuma-ite, failed entrepreneur, fibbing fabricator trying to deflect from his own legal and business failures.
  21. Most misleading, as is to be expected from this shyster. Absolutely NOT the reason why his group has been so massively devalued. A few facts: Survé plundered the PIC and civil servants’ pension funds in an investment contract with a no-penalty no-payback clause which amounted to theft. When he was found out his group took gigantic losses and four banks have closed his accounts due to reputational risk. No bank will touch his businesses any longer, he uses an expensive banking proxy. Some of that loot was used to buy V&A Waterfront penthouses and to pay salaries and other costs in his other businesses. For one his newspaper holdings have taken massive losses, clicks and circulation figures aren’t even disclosed any more. Same news group that pushed that “woman gives birth to 10 babies” nonsense. His one paper, as supposed proof, published the results of an investigation by an agency which he failed to disclose had recently been established and was owned by him. There is so much more... Amnesty International award for “Struggle doctor” in 1989. Assisted Bafana Bafana to adapt to international soccer for the 1996 Afcon win. Assisted the Indian national cricket team as “mind coach”. All lies, all three of those entities (including management and team captains) stated that they’d never heard of him. Anyone remember how he claimed, in his autobiography and to anyone who would listen, to be Nelson Mandela’s physician when in reality he had just finished high school at the time? That happened.
  22. All the whingeing, the trying to get opponents sent off, his dour game plans, him insulting the ref in the car park, more red cards than anyone else in Serie A during his tenure. Nah, I really don’t want to see all that in the EPL. I found it nuts when Levy and the board appointed him, terrible fit. Turkish League, that’s his fit.
  23. "For Spurs to sack him just days before a cup final shows how bad it had got. What a farce. Now he feels more Alan Curbishley than Sir Alex Ferguson.” - John Cross
  24. I took a chance with Powafix Powastrip as I was unable to source aluminium aircraft paint stripper. I found that I needed to be fairly generous with the gel for a thorough tube-by-tube job. Drop sheet, gloves, stiff silicone spatulas to scrape, and I found those wooden ice lolly stokkies great for the more resistant bits (so it doesn’t scratch), then Scotchbrite pads, and Autosol aluminium polish with a soft cloth to finish. Holographic transfer decals were done same-day at the local print shop. Entire job and re-assembly took two days. LBS guy paid me to do his HT after seeing mine. Finish is similar to Fleming’s, not overdone. Of course you can finesse lesser or greater shine. As for top tube glare, I don’t ever notice it at speed with eyes further ahead on trails. I find that I have to dry/wipe the down tube after each ride or the condensation dripping from the water bottle will leave water marks. If I sweat onto the top tube, it requires a gentle rinse and thorough wipe immediately after the ride. After my next polish and re-decal I’m going to clear Armour-Ride it.
