  1. "A Good Day" will get you that improvement without any effort.πŸ™‚
  2. Me, well, after last years October ride and the glacial pace (slower that the snails) we did, my starting time this year is so late, I think the spectators will be drunk, sunburnt and half dead by the time I get to Suikerbossie, but as always I plan to have fun.
  3. ................But sometimes you must keep your eyes on the little things close-up, or you will miss something important. (From top of Plum Pudding hill.)
  4. Sometimes when you ride, or in life, which is much the same, you must keep your eyes on the big picture. (Going up the front of Table Mountain.)
  5. Love it when I recognize the roads.
  6. I get the distinct feeling that it is time for me to build another art bike........
  7. 😁That'll also shorten his long term outlook
  8. The point of him following Musk is simply to get attention and gather as many followers as possible in an attempt to become an "influencer" and make money from the internet without having to do an honest days work.
  9. Like being the black sheep in the family😁
  10. Surprisingly so. I always thought of it as a fairly gentle ride down to the Point and back, but if you do all the side branches you get quite a few shorts sharpish climbs.
  11. True that
  12. I had such a fantastic ride in the Cape Point Nature reserve, I thought it my duty to tell you how to go about it..............because I very often ride alone, safety and security has become so much more of an issue for me, but I feel completely safe in the reserve, both from a crime and a traffic point of view. The "problem" was always that I felt it was too short a ride from the entrance gate to the Point and back............not any more! Today I did every side road and every loop and suddenly it was a very decent ride. The main road runs along the highest "spine" of the reserve, but nearly every side road goes down to sea level.............and then you have to climb back up to the main road before you can continue! It made for more than enough of a workout (60km I guess, have not used a bike computer for a while now). All of this in the most pristine surroundings and with virtually zero traffic! In some parts the tar is a bit rough and you get a proper buzz on a racy road bike with skinnies on, but mostly the roads are in decent condition. Oh, and you might end up practicing your nearly non existent Spanish explaining to a young couple from Mexico that they absolutely MUST climb up to the lighthouse and NOT just turn around at the car park! Got to see the "family", ostrich and eland, but no bontebok this time.
  13. How can this happen? Who is responsible? Air crew? Ground crew? BA? Airports Company?
  14. Be careful out there today...........Capies totally lose their marbles and drive like idjits when it is wet. They lose their ability to use indicators, cannot aim for the middle of a lane, talk on their phones and weave all over the place. Suddenly a red traffic light becomes a challenge they have to beat. Orange, what's that? They also lose their eyesight and go totally blind while they swop left and right. Saw the most incredibly stupid behaviour along Main rd Soutern suburbs on my way home this afternoon. Remember rule number one of commuting: STAY ALIVE!
  15. And there I was..............getting quite proud of my track stand................πŸ€ͺ
  16. Hiding from the infernal Cape Doctor - Top of Newlands Forest, the clearing before dropping into the Kirstenbosch single track. The Blockhouse was just too exposed and I didn't feel like getting blown off the bike today.
  17. What a composition πŸ‘
  18. Someone rolled out the red carpet for it!πŸ€ͺ
  19. Oooo, how I hate this little stairway to hell in my backyard .................... if it wasn't for its link to heavenly views and a sweet little bit of single track, I would not come back to this abusive bit of tar time after time like I do!
  20. Well, I had a late night, so got the Trance going a lot too late this morning. The heat, the heat, the horror. My first smile came when I saw this young growth of green herbs on the lower slopes. My grandfather used to feed it to his working horses before they did a long or hard ride and from what he said, it improved their endurance and certainly made them much easier to work with. ........... Which made me wonder about my own sweaty and breathless attempts to ride up Devils Peak on a day like today. Perhaps a iced herbal tea in my bottle would have made me care less about the pain and the suffering? In a trance, on a Trance, up the mountain!?
  21. Bit harsh to post that picture while you know some of us are stuck at work........πŸ€ͺ
  22. Up The Mother Moutain ..................... I wish there was some unleashing, but sadly just a lot of huffing, puffing drenched in sweat.
  23. Meatballs
  24. Good thinking Baldrick, the little ones are just as poisonous as the big ones. Some say even more dangerous because they are more jittery and more likely to strike at you than a somewhat wiser big one. Also, the youngsters cannot yet control how much of a venom shot they give you, they just give you whatever they have. The big ones can control how much they inject and will often not give you a full syringe.
  25. Beautiful πŸ‘
