  1. Super camoflage
  2. Entered Team DJR Light (just me myself and the 2 younger Ds). Nice to know that when I Whatsapped the 2 students to ask whether they want to ride again, both answered within moments with a "yes, of course, why do you even ask".
  3. Enjoyed the French subtitled La Mante
  4. Wait until he posts finishing times and THEN start to feel inadequite ????
  5. I'll take Mamil over any of the current Muppets any day of the week/month/year ????
  6. Mountain Bike: Tokai Upper has been safe for a good few years now, thanks to Tokai MTB and the good work they do, but not the approach through the suburbs Road: Camps Bay through to Noordhoek
  7. The City already already got a bloody nose recently for trying that. The vagrants, homeless and land occupiers have very good legal help and I suspect political backing too. It is just too great a coincidence that the City of Cape Town gets taken to task for its' housing policy and problems around every corner, gets clobbered in the press, especially from Independent Media, while hardly a peep is heard about the much worse shambles in other parts of the country and other Metros. I would be very interested to know where the funding for all the legal challenges and groups like Reclaim The City comes from. During the Covid Pandemic the problem with homeless people, vagrants, crime and illegal land occupation simply spiraled out of control and I do not think it can be solved again, not in a gentle and reasonable way.
  8. Interesting. Thanks for the explanation.
  9. Ooh, but the cycle lanes do work......................they work like a super fit guy with one 75% blocked coronary artery.............????
  10. First ride in my backyard since it opened after the devastating fires early in the year. The pincushions on the UCT Upper Campus are something else this year! Higher up, where they are cutting the burnt pines down, it looks a little like Dellville Wood after World War 1, but in stead if poppies there are many different species of fynbos flowers making an appearance. Really spectacular. Edit: For those not in the know, the notch in the mountain is where the Devil and Van Hunks have their smoking contest!

    Cricket......

I cannot help feeling that Quiton is going to come out of this looking like minced meat whether he is right or not, whether the board of CSA is wrong or not. In the bigger sceme of things, the grass gets trampled when the elephant bulls fight.
  12. The "like" button doesn't do it justice Mr Legs. There should be a "lekker" button!

In terms of all the past monumentally idiotic decisions and statements made by South African sports governing bodies, sports ministers and politicians, this is not at all surprizing. Edit: There is a bright side though: They make Cycling South Africa look like geniuses.????????
  14. Heal up well Edge. (You have much empathy from me, having had plenty of practical experience with that pesky little bone.)
  15. Mr Legs, two miserly pictures of that epic jealousy inducing ride is a little like taking a very sneaky shortcut, now that I think about it. Come on, post more pictures and sommer a ride report too! ????
  16. I truly do not believe there is a single farmer left in the Karoo who would kill a bat eared fox on purpose. The days when farmers were ill informed poorly educated oafs are very long gone. They know those bat eared foxes are their allies and will not harm them. But yes, it is sad to see roadkill. Mostly the reason is simple - people drive too fast for the road conditions.
  17. FAR fewer fatalities than in Main Road going through Fish Hoek I guess.
  18. I was wondering how long it would be before they make up the majority of the field. It certainly saw a HUGE increase over the last two years. Edit: I know it's unlikely, but still.........
  19. While you are there, sommer buy a Prince Albert cycling shirt or two. Arno use the proceeds to help development riders. They are very stylish and comfortable (the shirts). I used mine for the first time at the CTCT and attracted a bit of attention from other Prince Albert lovers. Great quality and value.
  20. See you out there Sam.
  21. Black on Black meets colour on the Constantia Greenbelts. Wet, muddy, slippery, sunshine, drizzle, clear, overcast, sunny with showers! Lovely four-seasons-in-one ride with Beattbox. Great recovery coffee and Swiss confectionery (thanks S). Serious bike wash done, fire lit, wine open, now we braai! Stuff this on/off rain, if you let the weather dictate what you do in Cape Town, you need to change your approach!
  22. Sorry, I had to edit out the address. it is the entrance to one of the most interesting and ususual houses in Cape Town and it belongs to a good mate. Take it as a reminder that one should never judge a book by its' cover, especially when it comes to Cape Town people.
  23. I also though so, but my youngest, who is into his oceanography and marine biology, tells me that is it not that unusual. But then, he's a student and they think they know everything............???? Edit: Come to think of it, the last three occasions he and his student pal were spot on predicting where and when the bioluminescense will be, so maybe I should give them a bit more credit?
  24. It's a bloody shame that the less time you have, the longer things (like the CTCT) take................????
