  1. Only bad experience we had was that my partners box was nowhere to be found on the second day, after rescheduling massages in the hopes that his box will be found and walking past every single tent just to make sure someone didnt took the wrong box his box finally pitched up around 19:30 that evening and they told us they found is in Scottburgh.
  2. Our first Sani, UNBELIEVABLE ride and experience, unfortunately I had a accident on the second day around 18km into the race a nasty fall total dismount from the bike, flying off with bike coming from behind and went shoulder/head first into the singletrack at around 40km/h downhill. Initially though my shoulder were off. Medics at WP2 wanted me to rather stop the race and I told them I already did 60km's with my pinky (which was in extreme pain) and will finish the last 30km's and see the doctor at the finish line. Doctor told me the pinky is broken and was given some painkillers and strapped the finger. Ended up finishing the whole Adventure, broken pinky and all, and mostly cycling the last day with 1 arm (my shoulder and pinky was just in too much pain. Today its xrays/sonars ect. but damn, Farmer Glen and his team/sponsors put a great ride together and missing it so much already. Well Done!!! After seeing doctors/xrays/sonars I have a slight AC joint separation and broken fracture in my pinky, seeing Orthopedic on Wednesday and hoping for no surgery on the finger.
  3. How is that possible, you guys suppose to be in the same group
  4. Awesome feedback there and review, I totally agree with you and we were actually talking about it the whole time regarding: Big prize money going to relay teams, the race is actually about 360ne distance The should rather call it 2x180 relay or 4x90 relay Riding the full distance is whats it's all ABOUT Well done to you and your wife
  5. Mine and my partner too, nerves kicking in big time now

  7. Thanks for the great tips Tuna
  8. Let me tell you something, if tomorrow wasn't promised what would you give for today? Forget everything else, forget that there was any sunlight left. What would you spend today thinking about, yourself, or the man that's besides you or the man that you're going to give everything in your heart for? We get one opportunity in life, one chance at life to do whatever you're going to do. To lay your foundation and to make whatever mark you're going to make. Whatever legacy you're going to leave, leave your legacy and it's found through effort. Wins and losses come a dime a dozen. But effort, nobody can judge effort because effort is between you and you. Effort ain't got nothing to do with nobody else. So that team that thinks they're ready to see you and think what they seen on film. They ain't saw what film shows because every day is a new day; every moment is a new moment. So now you got to go out and show them that I'm a different creature now than I was 5 minutes ago because I'm pissed off for greatness. Because if you're ain't pissed off for greatness, that means you're ok with being mediocre. There ain't no man in here ok with just being basic. So let's do what we do.
  9. Thanks for the motivation Clinton, I saw that post you made earlier about your friend that passed away and that struck me in a BIG way and probably one of the biggest reasons I'm taking this on. I will see you there bud .
  10. Hey boys hows the training going, getting nervous? 10days to go... I did a last minutes decision to take on this monster and only entered this morning, I loved the 240km Transbaviaans last year and this would just take it to another level. I didn't really train for this event and hope that my normal training would be enough for this (but this I will probably only find out on the day. So far my training for this ride is way under what I would like it to be and standing at: 1658.8km, 21318m climb from January, which includes the 70km Leopard Crawl, Argus, 70km Kingfisher, and a 130km training ride and planning my last training ride for Saturday or Sunday of also +- 100km with another 1/2 rides during the week (weather permitted) I have no idea what to expect but looking forward to push my boundaries.

  12. 5m my ass, that is a lot more, its not the people in front of him's fault that he was in that situation and that they were to slow and he lost his patience and then decided ahh well, lets take a shortcut here and pass atleast 6 guys infront of him, believe me I am a fan of Evans, but he was in that situation for a reason and if he wanted to avoid it he had to push harder from the start. I also dont think 1hr penalty is too harsh, he wont try it again and hopefully no one else. I also saw the guys taking a shortcut on the Prologue and they should have also been penalized in some way. http://ewn.co.za/Media/2014/03/28/Evans-illegal-shortcut-at-Absa-Cape-Epic

    Argus 2014

Started cycling December 2012 when I bought my first MTB (Ghost 26" full suspension) and did my first race Argus 2013 3 months later in 5h12m, sold the bike this December and bought a Specialized Epic Carbon (29" full suspension) and did the 2014 Argus in 4h10m (was aiming for under 4h30m) next year it will be a sub 4 Managed to easily do Chapmans and Suikerbossie and from the top of Suikerbossie I had loads of fuel left in the wheels and passed hundreds of PEOPLE (sure is nice passing all the boys on their Dogma's ect.) I love the Argus, except for the wind this year but still enjoyed it.

    Argus 2014

Hi Escapee.. have you received the Argus Magazine via post? It gives a nice description of the route from point to point and what to expect.
  15. Thanks almost forgot, just entered. Cant wait to try it
  16. How is it going with the training, I really want to do this, did the 240km/24hr Transbaviaans last year for the first time and really enjoyed it (already entered for this year again) But this is the Ultimate and now really consider doing this. I take it that you don't get bins to keep at waterpoints (as in Transbaviaans) for nutrition/spare parts? Happy training
  17. Did my first one in 2013 and already entered for this year a team of 4 (last year we were 2) after I received info that entries are flying this year. Accommodation also booked. Absolutely love the endurance side of this ride, MAC (Mother of All Climbs) took the best out of us, but hopefully we are more prepared this year. You don't have to have a support vehicle, but its damn nice when you get to the point at night with your friends/family waiting there having some braaivleis, and getting into some clean/dry clothes. The fee includes your entry, race tag (to check in at water points) the route is unmarked but I personally like that even more, food at the water points are great, vetkoeke and coffee after MAC on a cold night is just awesome. I can't wait to get my 5x times shield...
  18. Yip they arrived at our lbs Coimbra Cycle House also a little while ago: I finally bought my first Specialized here: http://www.thehubsa....16#entry2151794
  19. Awesome idea, and the app is loaded with information of the tracks. Good thing they use a smartphone, because imagine using a Garmin and just exporting the file and sharing it with everyone?
  20. My first K2C also, started cycling in December 2012 when I bought my first bike, really wanted to do a time of 5hrs, but only managed a 5:50h, started cramping badly 70km's into the race and had to get of the bike multiple times even on downhills, luckily I managed to pull through, didn't pushed my bike once (very happy about that) But I must say, very bad manners from some racers, firstly if you cycle do so on the left side and overtake on the right side, this makes it difficult if your trying to overtake and 3 guys are chatting to each other cycling next to each other. I don't know where some of these racers come from but jees they have bad manners, heard a couple of guys shouting "stay f@*!g right" to ladies, I mean why not just said "keep left passing right"? I don't know if there was racepacks at registration but when we were there around 18:00 on Saturday we were told that the racepacks were finished already (I think if I was reading correctly this happened the previous year also), I purchased a shirt and had to go to info after I registered so that they can write my name on a piece of paper with my race number and shirt size, just to go stand again in the row to get my shirt, then saw other guys writing there names and shirt sizes on a piece of paper that didn't pay for there shirts and laughing about it later on (Badly organized in that respect) My cycling buddy had to pull out after 45km's after his knee also gave in. Will do the next one again and make sure im earlier at registration this time.
  21. yip my Actinum 7400 also just keeps going, love the Ghost bikes
  22. Yip, Ghost opened a factory shop in Gauteng https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ghost-Bikes-South-Africa/316003618426874?ref=br_tf
  23. Bodhi is correct, when I beta tested iOS7 I already picked it up, background refresh will sort it out. What happened was that you lost signal (not refreshed) and picked up signal again at home when you switch the phone on. That explains the quick speed and short distance.
