  1. Great, always wanted to try this stuff. Thanks for the update. Almost finished with the Cadence so comes in at the right price at the right time...
  2. MiWay insurance helped me out nicely (57 bucks per month)
  3. Hey Guys, thanks for the advise as I have the exact same setup - Tublless MTB (Maxiss Crossmark front and rear) using my old rims with slicks on. I must say though that the weight difference is deffinitely felt going uphill. Recently did the "GP Koning Rollercoaster" 88km (Sun 5 March) with the slicks and felt the difference in weight and then changed back for a MTB social ride the following Sunday and was very glad to have the tubless back on again... Obviously it depends on which MTB tyre set you have as I find the Maxiss Crossmark do quite a good job on the road as well, but just to be clear I think I'm still gonna go with the above advise and swop over to slicks for The Argus. Cheers
  4. Yeah, me and a few MTB buddies swopped out our usual mtb tires for "slicks" and having done quite a few MTB races over the past few years you manage to get a feel of / at least "build up an expectation" of what you can get at the water points. I was really hoping for some Coka-Cola along the way, but only found water and bananas. Now, don't get me wrong here, that's fine 'n all except if you were among the last to leave for the 88km ride! at 11am coming up over OKW for the 2nd time wasn't what I like to call fun and with not enough water points I was really tired to say the least Anyway, my 5c worth.....good training for the Argus I guess

  6. Just got off the phone now with Roderick at Mobii now who was extremely helpful in answering all my questions. Why not give him a call on +27 (0)21 914 6982 You can tell him that you "spoke" to Nick on the Hub as I told him I needed some advice as Yumena was wanting to know If I had known about the Mobii before buying my current Polar I would have bought that instead (sigh)

  8. Not at present, (using a Polar FT80), but I had the good fortune to be able to test 1 for a few weeks. The Mobii can connect to any other device you wish to use as a cadence sensor (or HR strap for that matter). So, if you are using Polar (like I am) the Mobii will detect the Polar cadence device and report back to the Mobii on you're bike...pretty cool hey ?
  9. Couldn't agree more. Get a Mobii !!!!!!
  10. I've tried Cytomax, USN Cytopower, Hammer Heed and PVM Octane. Of these I can say that I really enjoy using the PVM Octane the most - great taste and gives a nice prolonged boost during races. I use PVM Octane during any race and the USN Cytopower as a recovery drink afterwards (don't really like the taste though )

  12. This stuff rocks. Started using PVM Octane 2 months ago. Love the tatse and really gives a nice boost http://www.mydailysupplement.co.za/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=147&category_id=21&pop=1&vmcchk=1&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=23
  13. Dynamite comes in small packages mate hehe
  14. Bought a pair of INDOLA bib shorts from CWC here by Tygervalley and cost me R850. Nice fit and great padding for long rides. I bought it to use in the Karoo to Coast 100km ride. Was thinking of getting the First Ascent Revolution bibs too, but the padding was just not as good as the INDOLA's - personal opinion Good luck in your search though....
  15. I enjoy mountain biking because : 1) I can get out off the roads with all the "hustle-n-bustle" . 2) I can enjoy the fresh air not clogged up by car / truck fumes 3) The scenery is just awesome on most mountains 4) As a 4th reason I would say it's safer as there aren't any cars, but with the recent bike jackings I'm not so convinced Anyway, if you do decide to make the switch then enjoy it and be safe on the road

  17. Reason 1; I can make it do what i want as much or as little. Reason 2; When there is an issue i can walk to the guys and ask them to assist. and they are willing to assist and add stuff to it if they see the value of the change. Reason 3; It is not sport discipline locked, so you can use it for surfing to ski diving as it's waterproof ! REASON 4: It's local and kicks international butt
  18. I have a Polar FT80 with the separate GPS and after testing the MOBII I wish now that I had bought THAT 1 first - http://www.mobii.com/
  19. My Dad is putting in at least R8k towards a dual-sus frame upgrade for me and you know what I said ? "No, rather satash it for my wedding soon"...........aaaaarrrrgggggghhhhhh. You are right - it's such a selfish obsession. Anyway, I'd gladly swap the dual-sus for the wedding............what the hell am I SAYING ??? lol
  20. Fast reply would be the "lack of funds" in my bank account to buy a proper MagicLight (mtb light) for night riding http://www.magiclight.co.za/products/bike-lights/mj816 They are round about R1400 - R1600

  22. Um, I'm not sure I'm qualified enough to justify an answer, but I spoke to 1 of the guys here at work who rode the Cape Epic and he said that I should not be doing any long rides 1-2 weeks before the event. His advice was to train hard and then a week before the event ...to do absolutely nothing ! I rode a 50km 2 days ago and felt good after as I didn't push myself too much. I'm just going to do a 60-70km as a last training ride and then chill till the event and the take it real easy on the day for the 1st 50km and finish strong - hope this helps
  23. haha and I do realize that you are being serious about this too. All the guys here at work are taking "chommie" cream. Don't ask me WHY they call it that though...I don't wanna know - ROFL
  24. Dude, I'd love to see you with all that stuffed/crammed into your 3litre Camelbak lol
  25. Slowbee, thanks a mil for this valuable info. Will be putting it to the test on 25 Sept in Uniondale I'm just gonna take it easy, but with the other 4 guys I'm cycling with it's not going to be easy as they are fitter than I am. I guess I'm hoping for a 6hr ride down to Knysna if i can make it in 6 hours that is....
