  1. A guy at work just keeps saying 'yes' to every question. That's what every sales guy wants to hear so they get all excited and start taking down details but when you give them first name 'yes', surname 'yes, etc. they get a bit frustrated. Then when they ask 'Can you understand me?' or 'Do you speak english?' you say 'yes' again and the fun start all over. For extra fun put them on speaker and let the whole office listen in
  2. Insane! Was it by any chance a kiddies race?
  3. Shweet - but do we need to pre-order?
  4. So it looks like BBB the one from CWC is pretty much my best bet then. Thanks Mampara.
  5. You're right - that is hilarious Pity I missed it.
  6. Hey Guys, I've been keeping a beady eye open for a torque wrench set but haven't found many options out there. The cycling-specific ones seem a bit pricey and I can't find them in any of the local hardware stores. Does anyone have any advice about where to buy them and also what sort of set I should be on the lookout for (don't want to get a set that doesn't have all the cycling-related bits and bobs)? Any advice welcome
  7. Can we pick one of these shirts up on the day?
  8. Well it's a forum... They have the ability to respond to the criticism and get rid of the negativity, but I don't see any responses coming from them. Other distributors / shops use this to great effect e.g. CWC, ASG, etc.

    service

Well in that case you can either take your bike in to a local bike shop and get a major service done / if you're clued up you can do it yourself. The major service would cover stripping and re-assembling the major components to ensure everything is running smoothly. At the very least give your bike a good clean and make sure your drive train is well lubed up on race day.
  10. Fixed it for you

Huh!?!?? So you're not looking to upgrade / change anything, just looking to make your current bike ride as smooth as possible?
  12. I haven't ever used this fork, but according to the Fox site it comes with: ADJUSTMENTS - Lever actuated lockout - Air spring pressure - Rebound Start off by adjusting the air pressure for your weight. There should be a guide in the manual (the reba has a table on the fork itself) that gives you an indication of the recommended pressure for your weight. Start off with the recommended setting and check the sag when you sit on the bike. Should be around 25% of the fork travel. If not, adjust accordingly. Once that's done move onto the re-bound. This is a very personal choice. Set it to the fast rebound if you prefer the fork to bounce back quickly when compressed / set it slow rebound if you want to fork to spring back more gently. You can either start somewhere in the middle and work towards the side you prefer / start at one of the extremes and work away from it. Take the bike over a fairly long bumpy stretch and see how it feels. If it's not quite right adjust a bit more and try again.

Nice! Love the cranks!! Brakes look a little too blingy if you ask me...
  14. What fork have you got and what can you adjust on it? Some of the lower end forks don't offer much adjustability while the top ones allow you to tweak to your hearts content.
  15. I can't find any news in the press about it yet, but it seems like they may have done this.
  16. Hmmm... 9 mins. Interesting number. Did it have any affect on the race podium? I.e. were any of the guys that didn't take the wrong turning pushed off the podium?
  17. What was the outcome of the dispute? I know there was a serious indaba after the race to try sort things out, but left before i heard the outcome.
  18. Phenomenal course! The best single track in the world. Iron Maiden was the fastest flowing and most manicured single track I've ever ridden. Water bridge crossing was a first for me. Nice start to the 40km with a long open stretch of district road. Allowed people to get into their correct places before hitting the single track. Climbs were tough, but the reward was worth it! Downsides - parking was a nightmare. I ended up parking miles away from the start tent. Getting to the starting batches was chaos. Whoever thought it'd be a good idea to make people walk through a crowded tent should be shot. I was running late for my start and had to mission to get through the crowds. And as for the shirts.... poor showing on the organizers part. I had a choice of S / XS so ended up getting my wife a nice Karkloof cycling shirt. As someone's said, they have our sizes on the ROAG DB, so why not prepare accordingly. Anyways, those are all minor irritants in the greater scheme of things. What a race!
  19. Awesome stuff! Bring on Karkloof!!!
  20. I think the introduction of the Adventure was a stroke of brilliance, but it only satisfied a fraction of the demand by the looks of it.
  21. The Sani2C is without a doubt one of the hardest races to get into in SA. It's a winning formula and everyone wants to experience it for themselves. I'm not saying the organizers turn their backs on the loyal riders, but the waiting list concept doesn't seem to be working too well. Maybe some of the spots that open up should be given away in a random draw / maybe they could open the route a few weekends during the year. I'm sure the local communities could benefit from a continuous stream of visitors as opposed to 1 hectic week a year.
  22. Have to agree with you on this. I've tried my luck with waiting list for past 3 years and still haven't come close to getting an entry. I was really impressed at the early bird entry system for the Cape Epic - quite a few guys on the hub managed to get entries for next years race. Another option could be for a 'lottery' where a certain number of places are randomly drawn from people in the waiting list.
  23. Back on topic - I've never heard of any issues with Silverback frames, but I have heard plenty of stories about frames cracking from more reputable brands such as Mongoose and Scott. Not too say that there's anything wrong with those brands, but it may be worthwhile to check for problems with the specific Silverback frame you're looking at.
  24. Oh... I see. That is a bit disturbing
  25. Guess what everyone's doing right now...
