  1. LOL! I'd agree with what a few guys have said on today's posts - at the end of the day, common sense goes a long way. Things like number of posts, kind of content the seller has posted, a quick check of previous sale posts (e.g. I wouldn't buy from the oke that was trying to sell the dodgy RockShox fork as a SID a few weeks back) and detail in the advert should be enough to make up your mind. If in doubt, walk away or insist on seeing the goods in person. The ratings system is open to abuse, but a suggestion is to show who has rated the person. If you spot quite a few people you know that have rated the seller then you can probably infer that he's (or she's) legit. Anyways - very keen to see what everyone else thinks.
  2. ChrisC - I'd advise you get that address and map off of gumtree before he deletes his ad. Although, I doubt he's given his proper address there. Also, you could maybe look at replying to his gumtree advert using a different address and try get more details out of him that way.
  3. Interesting that one of his posts he backed up what looks like another dodgy seller? "I bought a frame from this hubber last year, its awesome " https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/94103-merida-carbon-frames-r6000/
  4. You should be able to find a few places by searching for "thread repairs" in the yellow pages for your area.
  5. Two thumbs up for the CWC team!!! What a fantastic start to the year!
  6. Hi Chris, Please can you quote me on a RockShox Reba Race / RL / RLT 100mm (9mm QR). Thanks and all the best for 2011!
  7. Hi Chris, If you get gatvol of attending to each individual request, you could always offer a general discount (something around 10-15% would be great ) on all purchases by hubbers. This concept works really well on CRC!
  8. Well the site is Australian, so I'm not sure if the offer extends to other countries?
  9. Interesting that they're offerring a full refund. Would still love to see how much they made from sales for something that is essentially a plastic bracelet
  10. It's becoming a bit like the wild west out there. There were 2 attacks in the cane in Umhlanga over the weekend according to EMBA.
  11. It's a sad reality of the country we live in bud. People are out there with ill intentions and all they need is the opportunity. Like I said - not sure on the area so didn't jump to conclusions, just stated a sad fact.
  12. Well done to Anthony for assisting. The world would be a better palce if we stopped turning blind eye's to people in need of help. From the description it seems like this lady was riding alone. Not sure on the area, but riding alone isn't a wise idea.
  13. Maybe Santa was generous this year
  14. Would also be interesting to see the on / off road split. I'm guesing most of these km's are done on-road?
  15. Bought myself some Easton XC One's last month. Flippin fantastic wheels!
  16. Can't believe the split on this one! Thought it'd be an overwhelming majority for left hand rear. Only place I've heard of / seen it the other way around was when I rented a MTB in Croatia....
  17. Hey Guys, Just an update on this - Got my polar back from IHF and they replaced the batteries and provided me with a new strap and transmitter. Took it out for a spin yesterday and it's working hundreds again. Hope this helps someone in the future Cheers, Paulo
  18. I'm running Easton XC One's with a Maxxis Ignitor on the front and a Maxxis Crossmark on the back. Total weight including Stans sealant, valves, cassette and 160mm XT rotors is just over 4kg's.
  19. Hey Guys, Just in case someone else stumbles across this thread and is looking for a solution... I finally got this sorted at Good 2 Go in Pinetown. They put a helicoil in so it's as good as new (well ...nearly ). Thanks again to all for the advice. Cheers, Paulo

Bummer. Have you tried getting hold of Polar directly? They're pretty good at responding to emails and there might be some work-around to get this going. You can mail them on helpdesk@polar.fi.

I don't remember doing any specific specific setup to get this work. Basically the way my unit works is that I press the big red button once and it goes into a 'ready' mode for exercise where it starts reporting back on HR. From there I can either press the button again to start the exercise properly / I just start cycling and it will auto-start.
  22. Thanks Johan - I'll take all the advice I can get

Well it does autostart if you're in exercise mode i.e. you've pushed the red button once. But if it won't do it from the normal display mode. What REALLY annoys me about the watch is that it doesn't auto-reset the trip counter. I often forget to reset it before a ride and then only realise a few k's down the road
  24. Howzit Guys, Sorry to re-open this thread, but does anyone know of a place in Durban that would be able to do a helicoil repair for the stripped thread? I've checked at a few local bike shops and engineering places but none of them are able to help out. As an aside, a rather innovative solution suggested by the one shop was to use a nylock nut to hold the bolt in place. Sounded like a winner solution at only 20 cents, but turns out there isn't enough room on the hub for the nut Thanks again for all the advice.
