  1. I was toying with the idea of posting something like this earlier today actually! I've had a lot of sellers just not bothering to reply, even though the adverts still appear to be active. Very frustrating, especially when you need something being sold urgently.
  2. Based on the results of this survey it would seem that the overwhelming majority of okes on the hub ride a morewood
  3. Cool bananas. Care to share which park is up for review tonight?
  4. New to the family, but I own one none-the-less Have to agree, the bike-of-choice definitely seems to be the Anthem. Only saw 2 other Morewoods (both Zula's) at the Compendium Derby on Saturday. I don't think the number of Morewoods out there are a reflection of people's opinions of them. I reckon it's more to do with the relatively high costs compared to other brands out there.
  5. Temp fix My brake cable is too short to get routed along the downtube and under the BB and my LBS didn't have any XT brake cable in stock so I'm just running it cable-tied for now.
  6. Yip - I'm actually quite stoked cos as it turns out I had my eye on her when Gogga sold her, but at the time I didn't have the bucks. Took her out for her first race on Saturday and man alive she's an awesome bike!
  7. Further to last post... I've used Stans yellow rim tape, valves and sealant since going tubeless and never had any problems. The other day I couldn't find stock anywhere so I bought some American Classic rim tape out of desperation. Didn't stick to the rim as nice as Stans and when I added the sealant, it managed to work it's way under the tape where it overlapped. The tape also tore in half where the valve goes, so I won't be using AC tubeless stuff again.
  8. Stans all the way!
  9. I'd also be keen to contribute towards hiring a PI to track bike-jackers that are operating on my local route. I'm sure that any cyclists that feel threatened (aka everyone that rides a bike these days) would also be willing. Problem is although I feel the pain for you okes in Joburg, I'd rather sort out the issues closer to home first. But in principle if someone / some organization was willing to co-ordinate this effort I'm sure a quick message to local clubs and cyclists would be all that it would take to get funds donated to pay for a PI to track these bike-jackers down. It's the only way I see us turning this trend around. Once these guys realise that there's consequences to their actions and we're not just going to stand around and take it, they'll soon either be locked up in jail / move onto other easier targets. Case in point is Giba Gorge. They've had issues in the past and forked out for a PI out of their own pockets. Brought a spate of bike-jackings to an end and made the trails safe to ride again.
  10. Wow! Will be interesting to see how those tyres hold up though. Very tempting to drop the bike weight but I'd rather finish the race carrying a bit more weight than have to walk the last few km's with a sidewall cut
  11. I can't believe this thread is STILL going Closing arguments please I've lost track since about page 3, but has someone confirmed whether the section of trail is clearly marked as 'downhill only'?
  12. I'll second that
  13. Mine's about the same weight (medium frame). Dodgy bathroom scale weighs it in at about 12.2kg's. Very similar specs - also XT groupset, Reba RLT fork, Easton EA50 handlebar and stem, thompson elite seatpost, Specialized avatar saddle. Got a few choice upgrades in mind to drop her down below 12, but the bike rides a LOT lighter than what it reads on paper!
  14. That's terrible news Glad you're all ok, but this is getting out of control. These criminals are attacking bigger and bigger groups. Soon we'll need to ride in our hundreds to avoid becoming victims. Hopefully with that much stolen stuff the cops will be able to track these &*%^^$% down.
  15. Finally got some pics of my new pride and joy. Rouxtjie - eat your heart out
  16. So many options out there, each with pro's and con's, but the more popular brands are ZTR and American Classic. I ride some Easton XC One's (which I think are amazing but some people have issue with). Heard the XT wheels are prone to problems with the rear hub.
  17. Mini-hijack... Anyone got any thoughts on the Ignitors in comparison to the Monorail? I'm running as Ignitor at the moment on the front with a Crossmark on the rear and am quite happy, but just want to see what all the fuss is about with the Monorails??
  18. Shew - getting big sense of dejavu here I've also been building my GT Avalanche 1.0 up over the past few months, also with XT stuffs and have recently just bought a Zula frame and should be completing the parts swap tonight. Haven't had a chance to ride the Zula yet, but I can tell you that it looks AWESOME!
  19. Good work CWC! Keep the specials coming (especially the XT goodies )
  20. That is bad news Hope the victim is ok and that they catch the thieving *#@!'s and make an example of them to deter anyone else contemplating something similar. Big thumbs up to the management and staff at Giba - I remember they had a spate of bike-jackings a while back, but they did everything in their power to inform riders about the hotspots while also tracking down the perps, setting up security checkpoints, etc. Seems like they're still on the ball!
  21. Agree with Eugene. Even if you did manage to find a way to fit the frame it wouldn't handle as intended. Would definitely be a cool project though, so maybe try trade it off for a smaller frame??
  22. This issue seems pretty clear-cut to me. If the trail is marked as a one-way trail that just so happens to go downhill then all riders should adhere to this rule. Anyone going the wrong way is not only breaking the rules, they're also asking for sh!t cos the guys who are coming down have no obligation to watch for traffic coming up the hill.
  23. Geez like! What did those okes do to that frame?!?!
  24. There's a couple of remedies out there, but I'm still battling to silence the pig that chases my bike on the downhills. You get off-the-shelf disc brake cleaner that you spray onto the rotors. This worked for my front brake, but not the back one. Otherwise there's the Isopropyl Alcohol route that you use to wipe the rotors down. This basically breaks down organic residue on the rotors but this didn't help with my back brake either so I'm assuming that I have a warped rotor or vrot pads. All I can say is - good luck
