  1. Any really.... Just looking for a chilled ride exploring the track so that I can get an idea of where to ride
  2. Hey all I'm looking to ride the Spruit tomorrow but would rather ride it with someone else as I haven't ever ridden it before... I am able to ride at any point during the day, so if you would like a riding partner, send me a PM and we can discuss a time and place etc.
  3. Hey! Yes I would be interested, but maybe a little further? I was thinking of riding from delta park area around emmarentia and then maybe slightly further down the spruit as well... Would be keen to go riding during the week. PM me if you are interested
  4. UCT does the ladies mile time trial every thursday evening in summer, and we do a bishopscourt tt every Thursday in winter. The ladies mile TT only consists of left turns and it's impossible to cheat, so only 1 time keeper is required. Furthermore, the bishopscourt tt that we are currently doing is off the main roads so traffic is avoided and there are some really nasty climbs over the route! If anyone is keen to join, let me know... But I would definitely be interested in maybe riding one or 2 of these routes hellocolour if you manage to get it together...
  5. It's something like for every gram saved on the wheels is equivalent to 4 grams saved on the frame, simply due to the rotational advantages... Look around on the hub, there are lots of sets of lightweight wheels for sale, such as a set of Zipp 404s... The next question you need to ask yourself is, do you want clincher or tubby wheels? Tubbies are much lighter, but if you puncture it's race over
  6. So two schools of thought: 1. Bleed 2. Replace Pads I think I should probably do both, but I don't have the money for both at the moment unless someone has a special on brake pads? I think I'm just going to try and bleed the brakes first, and then if that doesn't do the trick, get some new pads and then see how it goes
  7. I have the M975 brakes, so I don't know if they have reach adjust? The pads are equally spaced on either side of the rotor and are both engaging when the lever is pulled. It's almost like it fades until the bike stops, which is likely to mean that a bleed is required. Will bleed the brakes tomorrow and if that doesn't do the trick, then I will get new pads...
  8. Ok, I will give that a try... CWC, time for new brake pads
  9. Thanks for all the replies...The brakes are being used with new rotors, so they haven't bedded in - Can this result in almost no stopping power?!Should I just get new pads and try again or should I continue to use the brakes until the pads bed on the new rotor?
  10. I recently bought a set of used XTR brakes from a fellow hubber. The brakes are still in fantastic condition and have been really well looked after... So today, I set the brakes up with no hassle and then go around the park to test them. Once going, I pull the levers gently expecting to go flying over the handle bars due to the stopping power and then i realise that there isn't really any... When the levers are fully pulled, the brakes barely work, I mean they do stop you, just not very quickly! So, does this mean that they need to be bled in order to regain that strong "bite"?
  11. Normally it's because of the front derailleur. The FD can only shift 14 (not sure of exact number) teeth sizes bigger if I'm not mistaken. Hence the gap on a 26/42 is too large... Maybe the new derailleurs have a new system?
  12. Hi I would be looking to do something like this from the middle of July on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. If you are still planning on riding in the mornings in 2 months time let me know
  13. The American classic sprints mentioned above are a great set of wheels! I have them as my training wheelset and they are incredibly light and good value for money
  14. What wheels do you currently have? Are you looking for clinchers or tubbies as tubbies are much lighter? Deep section or standard rim? In other words, what are you wanting the wheels for?
  15. Ok, so that is roughly a total of R2000... Anyone else want to add anything? My problem is that the tyres I'm after are only available again from the 23rd of May...
  16. Is anyone in Cape Town planning on ordering parts from CRC in the near future? If so, please can I get in on your order so that the shipping can become free... Looking to bring in 2 tyres

  18. Go second hand... For that price you can get 9 speed slx with a rock shox... Just look around here on the hub
  19. Take a piece of old gator skin and cut out a large trip and then cable tie it to the frame. It's neat and simple
  20. Rocket Rons
  21. That crash was so stupid! It happened right in front of our bunch (I was around 6th wheel at the time) and I had to come to a complete stop in order to avoid it, 1km before the line. I'm still not sure exactly what happened, but I definitely remember narrowly missing the guy in the picture
  22. I ride American Classic Sprint 350 wheels and at 1410g for the set they are really light
