  1. As long as you guys are all aware that this is pirate clothing and not original. Thats why it is so cheap. As far as I am concerned a imitaion jersey isnt a problem as the material is almost the same. The Bibs however dont have the same shammy so you really are getting screwed there.
  2. EASY, S Works Epic 29er
  3. I am the opposite, have a 26" full sus and bought the 29er hard tail. Kept the 26 for the longer and more technical races and ridden it in 6 months. Hardtail 29er is the way to go. Faster and more enjoyable
  4. Its better to watch the rugby and know the result because if we lose you really dont want to riding on the road afterwards with the pissed off depressed people driving. Then again if we win and people are celebrating and drinking Klippies, you probably dont want to be on the road either. That settles it, rugby and beer and save the legs for Shova
  5. I have a pair of S works amd they are awesome, the only shoe I will ever use.
  6. Such an awesome clip. Thanks for posting
  7. Doing my 3rd, looking forward to it. Had bad lick the last 2 years so hopefully this year I have a good ride.
  8. I cannot belive this is still going. I have known Gordon for 4 years and bought loads from him when he worked a bike shop. He is an honest stand up guy and I must agree that when the money is paid then the item is yours. I am buying a car at the moment and was busy arranging finance when a cash buyer paid for the vehicle and it is gone. Boo hoo, I cant cry over it, grow up and go find another. And some of those king comments made my evening
  9. But the wheels are so small......

    stolen bike?

It is illegal to buy stolen property. You cant tell me that you buy a bike for R300 and dont know that it is stolen. The guy is lucky he doesn't get charged. They are fuelling the fire by providing a market for the thieves.
  11. Roadies dont get a vote
  12. I am riding Sani2c next week and have a Sworks 29er ht and a 26 stumpy full sus. I personally (and my times prove it) believe that I am 10 - 15 minutes quicker in a race on my 29er than my full sus. Before I bought my 29er my training mates used to beat me on average by 20 minutes and now on the 29er it is less than 5 minutes. There is no way that in 3 months I have miraculous gotten that much stronger when the gap has been 20 min for 2 years. And who ever says that a 29er cant climb is smoking the good stuff because I have been climbing away from chaps on their 26" bikes that used to thump me when I was on my 26. I kept my full sus thinking I would switch between the two and use the full sus on Sani and Karkloof and the longer technical rides and the 29er for everything else. The only time I have ridden my full sus in the last 3 months was when my 29er was getting serviced. I have both and have been converted - Sani here I come on my 29er.
  13. Another small "wheel" syndrome here.
  14. See you there if you are riding on Sun
  15. And she rides a Specialized. I am in love.
  16. Nookie in your favourite piece of single track?
  17. If you insure the bike and you have trouble with the frame then you can claim the frame through insurance and just claim that it is crash damage. This negates the warrantee issue. I have imported bikes and it is well worth it. I found that Ubag was the cheapest people to ship bikes in to SA with.
  18. last year 1532 this year 1457
  19. I was in C batch and EVERY Bullrun had palookas walking the trails. They make chicken runs for a reason, for those technically challenged roadies that cant ride a mountain bike. I was riding behind a chap coming up to a section that I know is quite tricky and told him to take the chicken run as the bull run was tough - he went into the bull run, stopped and started walking. That really pisses me off. Otherwise my response to all the gripes go as follows: 1. Too expensive - you get a really smart cycling shirt that more than makes up for the entry fee (if you entered and bothered to get to registration on time). 2. Parking - so you had to walk 500m to the registration and then again to the start. Use it as a warm up OR get there earlier and you wouldn't have that problem. 3. Route markings - the routes are really well marked, I have friends that go ride there on weekends without marshalls and follow the routes just fine so UNLESS the marshall sent them the wrong way, they have no excuse. A truly enjoyable race, even if Edgar did catch me 30km in after starting 15min behind me. As far as the 60km being as tough as the 75, I normally ride the 75km in 5 hours and the 60km took me 4:20 so it was a bit shorter but the singel track that they incorporated by making it shorter was well worth it.
  20. I think you are mistaken, I have ridden the 40 and the 75 and now the 60 and you dont go anywhere near Lebanon in the 40. Lebanon is twice as long as Carolines.
  21. Try Lebanon and then we can talk again. You climb 2/3 of all the climbing that you do in the 40km in just 7km, brutal.
  22. And how do you suggest who they choose who gets in for that 50-70% return riders?
  23. Do you propose that the people that have been loyal and supported the organisers from the start be left out of the race and people that haven't been involved and helped make the sought after event that it is today get put in at their expense? First come first served works perfectly. I know that there are people that have been trying for years to get a ride but that if just unfortnately the way that it is with the most popular race on the calendar.
  24. I ride Maxxis ardents. they are a mud - trail tyre with loads of grip and handle the wet conditions brilliantly.
  25. It has been raining all week and will most likely be muddy and slippery so go with a wet tyre wiht lots of tread. It is going to be interesting.
