  1. If you're starting at 9:40am, then your biggest worry up Chappies is getting mowed down by an e-bike 😂
  2. Yeah, if you do this, please film that last section 🙈
  3. I'm in the same boat. Rode 3:45 last year, did 2:50 at 99er, also seeded in 1C. I have less than 0% chance of a sub3, no matter how skinny I make my wheels. Oh well, as least we'll have less dodging to do
  4. Have you tried Knipe Racing? https://www.kniperacing.com/ I don't know the specifics of your issue, but from my interactions with them, they're pretty much willing to do anything (and do it well).
  5. As pointed out elsewhere, post-99er updated seedings for CTCT are now available on racetec (under "my results"). Got bumped from 2B to 1C. Going to be crazy fun on my dik wiele 🤣
  6. Ahahahahaha, 99er bumped me from 2B to 1C. Wow.
  7. Update on CTCT seeding:
  8. So I've got a 1x drive-chain, but my derailleur doesn't have a clutch, so I pretty much average 1 chain drop per ride over 50km. Was finally sick of it (nothing worse than dropping your chain in the bunch in a race then watching it disappear into the distance while you get your hands dirty sticking it back on...). So I fashioned my own chain guide using some thick plastic and a soldering iron: The goal was mainly to stop the chain jumping when I hit a bump whilst on a small cog at the back, So far (3 weeks on), the results are surprisingly good. Only 1 drop (hit a big bump going very fast), and importantly made it through 99er unscathed.
  9. Ok, here's one for 2022: https://forms.gle/MAHydbSUTsYtuj8i9 Results: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TEW2E8XN15H2BYoizjc1Ai_bdZUZOoTgd9upzngrpUU/edit?usp=sharing
  10. Mine did improve, now to wait and see how we get our Cycle Tour seeding updated...
  11. Now we just have to see how long racetec takes to update the seedings...
  12. Flip, now I'm starting in the same group as a 20" BMX that's gonna drop me 🙈
  13. You'd have to go back to 2018 to find the last time someone from 2C broke 3 (though 12 did it that year) Year Number breaking 3 in 2C Fastest Link 2021 0 03:06:47 http://results.racetec.co.za/results_by_event.aspx?RID=2021&EN=Sun%2010%2F10%2F2021%202021%20Cape%20Town%20Cycle%20Tour%20%28109km%29&SG=2C 2020 0 03:05:55 http://results.racetec.co.za/results_by_event.aspx?RID=2020&EN=Sun%2008%2F03%2F2020%202020%20Cape%20Town%20Cycle%20Tour%20%28109km%20%2D%20109km%29&SG=2C 2019 0 03:18:14 http://results.racetec.co.za/results_by_event.aspx?RID=2019&EN=Sun%2010%2F03%2F2019%202019%20Cape%20Town%20Cycle%20Tour%20%28109km%29&SG=2C 2018 12 02:53:05 http://results.racetec.co.za/results_by_event.aspx?RID=2018&EN=Sun%2011%2F03%2F2018%202018%20Cape%20Town%20Cycle%20Tour%20%28109km%29&SG=2C
  14. 2B, thanks largely to this morning. That's an improvement on 7E last year 🤣
  15. I was similar on my steel gravel bike. At the start the guy next to me looks over and goes "yoh, dik wiele". Well, the dik wiele managed to hang onto the group for 97km, before finally getting a little distanced on the last climb 😎
  16. Yassss, that was fast (and fun) 😁
  17. Yes, it was 🙈 But the road seeding still shows boland 60miler with 15 penalty. Anyway, over it. Enjoy the ride on Saturday from whatever group the algorithm has placed you in 😁
  18. No, 60 miler. Even now, if I look at 3 races from last year, the penalties don't make sense for boland: Ctct (October) : 15 Boland (October) : 30 Ppa (December) : 15 (this is only academic. I had a crap race at boland, so even with 0 penalty it wouldn't be a useful result 🙈)
  19. That mostly makes sense, except the race I mentioned (boland) was less than 6 months ago, and had a penalty of 15 from the first time the results were published (or, at least, it did for me). Anyway, thanks for the explanation, it's useful to know how it should work in theory.
  20. Sorry, I meant the penalty. ((((Time / Winner) – 1) / Beta) x 100) + Penalty For example, boland 60miler last year had a penalty of 15. But ppa Sportive 3 had an adjusted winners time of 15mins. I'm trying to understand when they will use which.
  21. Isn't that what the adjustment factor is for?
  22. And then, when they do use a PPA race, the "winning time" is 15mins faster than the actual winner, making the calc essentially meaningless.
  23. I've got these https://www.takealot.com/anker-soundcore-life-dot-2-true-wireless-earbuds/PLID72802922 They work well, and last ages (plus the charging case gives you essentially a full 24 hours if you're prepared to use 1 at a time). I sometimes ride and run with just the left one in, and have had no issues with it falling out, find it locks in nice and tight.
  24. Yeah, was super misty around Tokai. I was actually fine until I crossed Ladies Mile, and then the combination of no street lights, mist, and my clear lenses thus fogging up made for an interesting next few km...
