  1. Well C batch was certainly on it today, crazy fast race. Our main goal was 2:55, ended up doing 2:50 πŸ˜€ Hope the A group that went down are ok, looked like a big pile up
  2. I'm not saying you're wrong (I suspect you have real world experience of this), but the CTCT website says this: https://www.capetowncycletour.com/seeding-faqs/
  3. I will note this forecast has changed a lot in the last 24h, so it’s far from certain
  4. Out of interest, where are the other timing points?
  5. Hey, I blamed you for heat last year, at least I’m consistent πŸ˜‰
  6. He eventually made it across, with a bit of help from some monsters from H 😁
  7. Agree, though it was also made worse by the angle of the headwind, the most sheltered spot was on the right
  8. I personally enjoy that section (but didn't have any bakkie-encounters). It's a nice "breathe in and gather yourself" moment before Odendaal.
  9. The weather was much better, thanks for that Also, more coke than last year, which was appreciated. Also appreciated the bike marshals, felt a lot safer with them flagging down approaching cars. I have no complaints.
  10. I sense another #justiceForJbr petition coming 🀣
  11. Makes sense, though I think the general confusion is that a lot of people (including myself) have a much better index than last year (even taking penalties, etc into account), and yet have dropped 1 to 2 batches. Oh well...
  12. Similar: PPA=E, 99er=F Will see how amenable they are at pickup today (why say "seeding queries at pickup" if you aren't willing to discuss) but it's not the end of the world either way.
  13. Seedings do seem odd. Have somehow dropped 2 groups despite a vastly improved seeding index
  14. American, but some may follow Derek Teel (Dialed Health on youtube/instagram/podcasts, does a lot of strength training content aimed at cyclists). He was hit by a car 2 days ago, seems to be out of the woods (well, as out of the woods as you can be with a new rod in your femur), but a long recovery road ahead of him. https://www.pinkbike.com/news/derek-teel-of-dialed-health-suffers-extensive-injuries-after-being-struck-by-driver-in-hit-and-run.html?trk=rss
  15. Got some Chinese road wheels for the gravel bike, so now I don’t have to keep swapping tubeless tyres. A set of 58 rear/50 front Superteams, aka the poor man’s Zipp 454’s πŸ˜‚
  16. Edit: wrong quote 😁
  17. Stole the idea from @Kom for a saddle-mounted Varia mount that uses the actual Garmin mount for the connection (since that's often the weakest part of the 3D print). Screws into my Spez Phenom saddle using 4mm bolts, and the garmin component comes from a spare out-front mount. Purple because that's what PETG was on the roll Feels solid, very happy with it.
  18. It really shouldn't be hard. Every time we go to Greyton my wife ends up at the real estate agent looking for houses there.
  19. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8HBAjaHnmI
  20. The lens makes it looks worse than it is but, yes, don't come at me with your UCI measuring thingy
  21. Because it's very important to be aero on the greenbelts πŸ˜‰ Nice new carbon aero bar for the Diverge
  22. So my dad managed to knock over my armour-ride protected bike and it scratched the top tube on a metal clothes hanger. I was obviously quite bleak, but after one ride the scratch was gone. What happens is that as the protective layer heats up, it re-fuses together, self-healing itself and making any (non-massive) blemishes go away. I was very impressed, and glad I'd shelled out the cash to have the protection done.
  23. Not referring to the R321, referring to the dirt road (Draaiberg Rd). Having said that, I see the Franschhoek500 riders used it last week, so it's probably fine now.
