  1. This country wont be taken seriously for ANY sport that does not cater for the "masses" Soccer World Cup ran like a dream. Why. Because there would have been RIOTS had everything not gone off without a hitch. Go try and block the road on a Chiefs / Pirates derby day and see what happens. Jerkoff Zuma will get personally involved then. Sorry, but this never happened in Rapport Tour days, but then the people running cycling and the country were ADVANTAGED ie. Had multiple braincells. SA is screwed and will get worse. Get out while you can.
  2. Gorgeous, Congrats!
  3. Chris, ASSEBLIEF TOG!!!!! Stop sniffing chamoix cream and sweaty bibs. He lives on the West Rand. ????? In J-O-H-A-N-N-E-S-B-U-R-G. You Capies are a LOT dumber than you look!!! My man, if you need advice on technique, training and generally how to improve your climbing, talk to Spinnekop or Dangle. They have been around the block a few hundred thousand times. "Oh just pop in, blah blah blah" For Petes sake.
  4. The Glory days of the Tour are over. Contador? Schleck? Give us re-runs of Chiappucci, Bugno, Delgado, Theunisse, Pantani, Roche, Anderson, Abdoujaparov,Cippolini, Fignon, The Badger, ANYDAY! Todays Tour is too clinical and devoid of that essence that made me want to be a cyclist as a kid. Were these guys on drugs? Probably, but who cares. When they rode bikes, it was SPECTACULAR Maybe the race radio ban will help. RIP Le Tour...
  5. Have dealt with Chaunce before, bought stuff from me. Nice guy.
  6. Because it looks k@k.
  7. OK, so this is a looooooooong shot. Beginning 2008 I corresponded with a hubber ADRIAAN from either WITBANK or VANDERBIJLPARK on behalf of a friend, and he ended up buying said hubbers son's frame, which was apparently to big for him, which was: Specialized Tarmac Pro full carbo size 56 RED with the "zertz?" inserts in chainstays. So whats the problem? Same mate had nasty fall in 94.7 and frame cracked BADLY!!! SO WHATS THE PROBLEM? JUST GET ANOTHER FRAME, RIGHT? We'll, having communicated with Specialized, they are willing to give him a significant discount on the new frame IF they can establish proof of purchase with original owner. THIS IS WHERE I NEED HUBBERS HELP. All contact numbers for this person are now void (maybe overseas, maybe numbers changed? Who Knows?) The bike was superb, and this is not an indictment of any sort, just need help finding this gentleman, so we may see if we can get record of original puchase and help a biker get back on the road. ANY HELP WITH THIS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. Oh and BEFORE you ask, old PM's and previous communication also lost - half already contacted HUB adminitrators

  9. All Cannondales. Lots for sale recently. Just wondering. Personally I have always thought they are awesome, just weird that so many people selling them.
  10. What is up with these bikes? There must have been 10 Super Sixes for sale on the Hub in the last month or two. So either: They are crap? (but the way everyone raves about them, what can one possibly want to upgrade to from here - Just ask Spinnekop...) OR The sellers have all fallen on hard times and need to sell as I once had to. This is not an attempt to scupper anyone sales, just wondering???
  11. Anybody care? Give it a rest.
  12. I'm going to say Jens Voigt AGAIN, just because he is so strong.
  13. And so did I, and I never mind catering to serious buyers over that time who actually SPEND MONEY and dont come in expecting you to have a return spring for a left shifter on 2001 8 speed Shimano Ultegra that they need NOW or they cant go on their 20 min, 3 km ride-the-christmas-turkey-off piss around and give you attitude while they're about it because, why should they pay for it, Shimano is guaranteed for life isn't it???!!! For some people who work in "convenience retail" its just a job, and not their own business, and they would like to spend time with their families, just like the rest of most of the chirpers on this thread. My staff go home and come back productive in the new year, I'll keep the ship afloat, for whingers. And if you are so serious and you cant BEAR to miss 4 days of training for the spring classics or your early Giro preparation has taken a knock, have your sponsor fly you out whatever you need to be able to train and keep pace with Schleck and Contador. Or alternatively, you can always get a life???
  14. Jens Voigt. Works the hardest. NEVER afraid to attack, lead out, break away. A thorough gentlemen off the bike. "Aaah, German TV, life iss gooot!!!"
  15. Did YOU work between Christmas and New Year????? Or were you on leave enjoying you bike??? Or shopping and expecting everything to be open and ready, red carpet rolled out for your covenience? EVERYONE deserves a rest, especially those who need to deal with inconsiderate asses like you all day long.
  16. Harly Davidson? Suzuki Boulevard?
  17. Agreed. KAAAAAAAAAAK!!!!! Get a new HRM, yours is stuffed. Mine was 47 degrees through the karoo, about 70 kms out of Britstown. I drank close to 15 litres of water that day on the 270 km stage between Kimberly and Britstown!!! Thank the Lord the next day was overcast!
  18. Carry pepper spray and zap them. Oh and make sure you can then outsprint the biggest guy!!!
  19. Perhaps another solution: Maybe these two wheel cowboys should go ride another well recognised cycle route in the south of Jhb called "The Lido Route"and try to make *** there like they do in the cradle... Let a few of the old school hard-nuts on steel, down tube shifter bikes sort them out! Dan sal die proverbial *** spat!
  20. heh heh heh. Touche'.
  21. A FEW bad apples, you say. I was stopped at a (red) traffic light on sunday morning early in Midrand, sipping on my water bottle and trying to catch my breath after a long uphill climb. A group of club cyclists came up from behind, slowed and then proceeded to ignore the red light and just ride straight through the intersection. When I caught up to them and gave them a piece of my mind about cyclists that ignore basic road rules and give us all a bad name, I was summarily told to f*ck off and threatened (the standard behaviour, it would now appear, for a large number of cyclists who own pro level bicycles and think that that somehow entitles them to act like neanderthals) Not TWO traffic lights later, ANOTHER group of slowly cruising, one race a year fifty plus ladies did exactly the same thing, but in this instance, because they have only recently started cycling, do not have the appropriate bike skills to stand and pedal, therefore careening wildly when starting up a pace again, because they are in the incorrect gear and have not the power to drive that gear at low cadence, causing motorists and cyclist alike to have to swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid them! We have heard and seen these actions (and a lot of cyclists partake in them) ad nauseum. Maybe its a symptom of the lawless society in which we live, kind of monkey see monkey do (the taxi'x do it, so I can too"...") Few people respect one another anymore and its become very much a ME ME ME world. If the law enforcement entities in this country, especially in Gauteng, could hardly be bothered with child prostitution in Arcadia in Pretoria, or the disappearance of children in Hillbrow, why should they care about cyclists getting pushed off the road or residents/motorists rights being infringed. I suppose a lot of you read the post of the idiot that kicked the car door in of a motorist, after incident recently. Now who gets the blame there? The unobservant motorist, or the maniac cyclist. The problem is and WILL ALWAYS BE : not who is in the right and who is wrong, BUT who can and should give more consideration to other people and respect others, their property, their neighbourhoods, their chosen pastimes etc. STOP PLACING BLAME ANd MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!!! "If its to be, its up to me". This sh*t has really made me reconsider if I want to be a cyclist anymore, because I certainly dont want to be branded with the same iron as some real schmucks out there, and I also dont want to have to look over my shoulder all the time worrying about the motorists who have it in for me because of those d*ckhead cyclists!!! HERE ENDETH THE LESSON!
  22. and this is exactly why I ride alone lately. Sorry for these arseholes, will aim at them next time I pass one!
  23. Thanks F - sien uit na saal wat nie my gat saag nie!
