  1. Why do some 10spd cassttes require a spacer behind the cluster? I have an Ultegra cluster on my training wheels. When I wanted to replace it with a 105 cassette I had to put the spacer in behind the cassette so that the lockring could pull the sprockets up tightly. Are the spacings between the sprockets not all the same?
  2. Good luck Chucky. My Dad has just ben through it. Best of luck. We'll be waiting for you on the other side
  3. I'v ehad the same problems with my 305 where it switches off by itself in the middle of a ride. I took it to Avnic, they reloaded the software, but it still switches off from time time time. Sometimes it will be ok for a few weeks/months and then one day it will switch off 3 times in a row and then it will come right again. I've also had intermittent problems where the Sport Tracks software won't see my unit. I just change the USB port and then it's fine again.
  4. Cotact Arran Brown Check out their website: http://www.cyclefit.co.za/index.htm I don't see Hanco's number there. Maybe he isn't involved with Cycle Fit anymore?
  5. Check out this site. They make the Q-rings. You can download the manual there too. See if you can get a 2nd hand set of Q-rings. They are quite expensive to buy new. http://www.rotorbikeusa.com/
  6. Yeah, road riding. I'm not going to waste my day in the bush I will probably do about 100-110km if I stay out for 4 hours. There will be one or two littlew hills, but I'm going to take it easy. I'm going to be riding according to my heart rate zones.
  7. What cat you in Racing Heart? I'm in VA
  8. Ja me too. I was so looking forward to the climb up to the Union Buildings. It would really have seperated the boys from the men. Now we are just going to keep going round and round and round in 1 huge bunch for the entire race I can see plenty of sprints going to take place along Church street to try and break up the packs. It's about the only place that we have a nice long drag to make the legs burn in a highspeed chase.
  9. I got an sms from my club this evening to say that the race won't be going past the Union buildings this year. I see on CycleLab's website the race will be going straight up Church street. I guess we have our wonderful SANDF to thank for this f*ckup? Because of them the Union building has security fears and now we get chased away. Do the tjops in the Union Building think we all going to pitch up with a 9mm in the back of our cycling shorts?
  10. When I started working in Hatfield and sat in the traffic every morning I was surprised to see how my car chowed the juice, which is one of the main reasons I cycle to work. I thought about buying a scooter to get to and from work to save petrol, but then thought how lazy i would become, because then I would have a reason to sleep a bit later...the scooter is faster. Now I just remind myself that if I don't get up I'm going to be late for work, and say to myself that I'm not going to get fit sitting behind a steering wheel. Cycling to work also gives me a good reason not to work late At the moment I am clocking close to a 1000km every month.....not too bad for being employed fulltime, husband, father, DIY fanatic...... Cycling also helps to keep me sane. I'm far more relaxed when I get home and don't take my work problems out on my family. How do I get time to ride on weekends?......I just slap my wife on the butt at 5am and say: "Sex or cycling?" and she usually says: "Don't forget the sunblock".
  11. You guys are probably not married if you spend more time cleaning your bikes than riding them. My road bike gets cleaned once a month if it's got normal dirt from everyday riding and every 2nd week if i have ridden in the rain and the frame is full of dirt. I just take a wet cloth, dipped in warm water with Sunlight liquid in, and wipe the frame down and then give it a polish with mr Min. The drivetrain gets dismantled once a month and cleaned properly. My Mtb just gets a hose down and then left to drip dry.
  12. Hi guys (and ladies) I am hoping to do a 3-4hr LSD ride starting at 06:00 0n Thur 24 Sept. If anyone is interested they are welcome to join me. Ave speed will be 26-27km/h. I plan on riding from Karsten cycles in Zambezi drive. If there is enough interest I will try and get my wife to do backup. Speed Devil2009-09-17 02:13:10
  13. Brighter Lights welcome to the club. I have had the same issues with PPa in the past re the Argus. The last time I rode the Argus my national seeding was better than my brother's (who stays in CT). Yet when we got our seedings he was seeded in a better category than me. The PPA doesn't recognise any other seeding system than their own. I just wish the CSA would force them to use the national seeding data base like the rest of the country. That way the poor riders in CT wouldn't be stuck in the same category for a whole year, but can progress throughout the year and compare their performance from race to race.
  14. All I know is that you are going to blown all over the road with those deep sections in the winds you guys have down South
  15. Brighter Lights are you from the Western Cape?
  16. The road has been fixed. I came past their this morning and was presented with a fresh strip of tar. It was filled up sometime between yesterday morning and this morning. Oh well, he extra weight of the camera (which I didn't need) made for some good training up Government Ave
  17. I think you might just get away with your road bike
