  1. At a quick glance and considering the price of new entry level bikes I would say it is a steal. How old is the bike? What wheels/handlebars/stem seat/seatpost etc?
  2. Is the entire bike 4.5k or just the drive train?
  3. I used USN Cytopower a few months back. On my 35min ride from work to home I couldn't wait to get home as I would always be in need of a toilet. My muscles were always sore and never seemed to recover. After 2 days on the bike my legs would be so sore that I could not stand up or walk properly. I switched to Bio-Anabolics and all those symptoms have disappeared. I also find that I am riding a lot better too.
  4. Everyone rode in the same conditions. I don't see why they should have to weight the index because of the weather. A person's index is based on his/her finishing time in relation the the winner's time. Everybody rode the same route in the same weather conditions and everybody suffered the same.(except those that didn't train enough) But then again, this is the PPA and everything is done to suit the WP riders.
  5. Next question: Did you put the rings back in the same direction?
  6. Don't bother with the password. Just enter as normal.
  7. I had no hassles. I was done in less than 5 minutes.
  8. Not even Cervelo can make their bikes look this hot with the same colours
  9. Thanks o' wise one for that bit of useless info. I feel so much wiser. Now I will go impress my work colleagues with my new found wisdom.
  10. I was checking the weather for the coming weekend in Cape Town and this is what I get:
  11. I never cross an intersection when the light is red, but will at times turn a corner and follow the direction of the traffic if it is safe to do so.
  12. I wasn't prepared to read through all the mudslinging/name-calling/bad-mouthing that the PPA deserves. Just hearing the some of the horror stories leaves me to believe that nothing has changed in the 12 years that I have been away from CT. What I just cannot understand, is why the PPA doesn't use the national seeding index like the rest of RSA. They always seem to think that they above the rest and a law unto themselves. it reminds me a of a movie I watched many years ago.... There was a sign painted on the side of the barn which read, "ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL, BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS"
  13. Hmmm actually no' date=' I want to go and do a ride this coming weekend, cannot get more info on web re the ride...lost my OLD PPA number and now I will have to go and get a temp number at every ride... It is not 4 months to go....there are rides on every weekend ?[/quote'] Have you heard if there is a road race on this weekend? I'm flying down to CT on Friday and taking my bike with. If not then maybe we can organise a HUB ride
  14. Porky I agree. It's all in the name of fun... BTW, Seth has been very quiet of late....
  15. I wonder if that bait dangling lot over on the other motoring forum would like the idea of cyclists legally being allowed to jump red robots
  16. Come on guys. calm down. You are in the mother city after all. You still have 4 months before anything starts to happen
  17. Velo, I have one of those on my MTB which has v-brakes. I don't think you will have any hassles with a disc brake setup as it is low-down on the frame. If you not sure, find an LBS with a carrier in stock and ask them to fit it before you buy. Just a warning: those carriers are so comfy that my son goes to sleep within 10 min Either way it's a win-win situation, he gets his sleep in and I get my training in Speed Devil2009-08-31 04:33:33
  18. I think some of these cassette spanners might be cheap imitations. I have a Shimano one which fits perfect on cheaper cassette lock nuts, but does not fit 100% on my DA casstte lock nuts.
  19. Don't worry Cruzer Even us okes (and ladies) in the tandem bunch had to cross the line a few times. When we caught slower bunches they refused to get into single file so we were forced to cross the line to get around them Just brush the incident off and don't worry about. The dude was probably suffering from stingelstress or something so had to vent his frustration at the nearest victim. Someday he too will learn how to cross the white...just like the chicken did I seriously doubt that you will be dq'd. I have never heard of an open cat rider being dq'd
  20. I cycle to work 3 - 4 times a week depending on my training schedule. I cyled through winter so most the time I left in the dark (and exrtreme cold). I usually took the shortest route (17km) to work. from next month I will be leaving a bit earlier in the morning to get extra distance in. In the afternoons I vary my routes, so I can do anything between 17 - 60km on the way home. It all depends on my training program. Luckily we have showers at work, so I have no issues with cycling to and from work. On my off days when I take the car to work I take a fresh load of clothes for the next week. I cycle to work mainly to save petrol, but it also gives valuable training time. I save almost R800 a month on petrol.
  21. Theres a subject, I thought this was hijack central? you just beat me to it Mark. i was just about to say this thread has to be the hijack of the year
  22. I have a 10spd 52T dura Ace blade
  23. A stationary bike and spinning bike are almost the same except with the following differences: Spinning bike: -More robust -closer to a "real bike" setup -No fancy add-ons/gizmos - Used in spinning classes Stationary bike: -Found in the gym next to the tread mills -Not very good as a substitute for road training as the setup is way different from a "real bike" -Usually has a computer controlled resistance that simulte hill climbs, flats, sprints etc - Usually not very comfortable after 30 min due to the OVERSIZE uncomfortable saddle. I prefer to use my IDT as I have finer control over the resistance so I can better simulate hill climbs etc. Spinning bikes are good for a good hard 45 min workout. You can really throw your weight around while pedalling hard with no fear of breaking anything.
