  1. What has CSA done in the last 2 years for cycling in SA? Nothing although I must say that the Tour of SA was only endorsed by them. They came to chat to me a few months ago and asked me to help them with the Tri Nations track event. I gave them a price and have not heard anything back from them again. What has Greg Till done for cycling SA except maybe a few free trips abroad.
  2. Dear supporters and clients. The draw for the V W Vivo competition has been delayed to the 19th November. The reason is that we are planning to open a new MTB track as well as a track for kiddies on the 19th November. Sorry for keeping you all waiting another few days but we would like it to be another great day for all of you.
  3. Hallo 101SCC Thanks for your question. Coffee Republic is new in SA and we are the 1st cycle store to have them on our floor. We have just done a deal whereby they will have space on or new CWC online kit and we will soon make an announcement regarding more sponsorship from their side. Hope that this is what you wanted to hear from our side.
  4. Ja indeed a sad day for SA cycling. Hendrik is one of the few okes who tried to do something but without enough support. I can recall a few years ago, only about 2 or 3 years we had a few people on the Hub bad mouthing Sylvia Dale about money been misused ect ect. Sylvia won her case with cost in court. The CSA at that stage were financially strong with road teams going abroad and track teams coming to SA every year.I believed that CSA had no bond on their office / house in Table View. So they got rid of Sylvia and what is the end result: 1. I believe that they now have a bond on the property in Table View. 2. Hardly any teams representing CSA abroad. 3. No more Tri Nations for the track cyclist. I can go on and on. CSA is only going one way and that is down. They did not even had the guts to announce that they were wrong and that they lost the case. They had to pay Sylvia plenty , money that could have been used for the benefit of the cyclist. We lost Sylvia and now she has a great big job at SA Gymnastics. So sad that those who worked her out does not have the balls to say YES we were wrong.
  5. Let me close this chat from our side. We as one of the biggest Scott dealers in SA do our best to get the product in time. What can we do if Scott SA [ Probike } do not get their order as promised from overseas ? What pressure can we put on them? Cancel our order? That will not help us at all nor will it help you. They are only in the hands of the supplier abroad and so is Cannondale and some other brands as well. We do allot of imports from abroad and sometimes our orders get postponed for weeks just saying sorry products delayed. Now the good news. Please pop in at our shop and I will buy you a nice cup of coffee from our new Coffee Republic coffee shop that is opening tomorrow. I am sure that you will understand it better after chatting to me personally.
  6. Hallo IBruegge Thank you for this mail. Let me assure you that you are not the only client in SA that is disappointing in not getting his or her Scott bike. We get information from the local rep when certain bikes will arrive in SA. [ That is with other brands such as Cannondale ect as well] We then place our orders and if possible pre sell them to our clients. We normally take a dep as well, unless the client does not want to give us a deposit. The next is we will get a mail from Scott telling us when the specific models will be in SA and believe me Scott is on the ball with this information. They always keep us informed about which model is coming when. We have ordered 29er and were told that it would be here as promised. Believe me the competition is so strong out there between the different wholesalers and dealers that I can assure you that all of them is upset if the bikes does not arrive as promised from abroad. They are also only in the hands of the component suppliers. We have the same problem with 29ners from Cannondale. Bikes that would have been here end of September has been moved to end October and yesterday we heard that it has now been moved back to December. I ca only apologize for not getting you your bike but we are only in the hands of the wholesaler who is depending on someone else again. Hope that you will understand our frustrations as well.

  16. Azonic You will let me have a heart attack with your heading. Jnr called me and told me to read the Hub about our shocking service. I immediately called all the sales staff to my office telling them about the neg article on the hub - even before I read it. Then I opened the hub and saw the heading. Start reading and then everyone started to laugh and caught me like a sucker. Azonic are you going to pay for my heart operation? Thanks for the compliment. We strive NOT only to give good prices BUT also the best service.
  17. We all new that Raleigh has spend a lot of money in marketing the "Raleigh" brand in the days when they were sponsoring a pro team in SA.That never paid of . Then lately we learned that Peter Miller and Brandon Els sold Pro Bike to Scott International. What a brave move by Peter and Brandon. I can assure you all that Brandon knows exactly where he is going too.He is very clever - one of the few accountants in the cycle industry that I know who became a successful M.D. of a company. I am looking forward to the new name in the industry and is sure that who ever is going to take the Raleigh brand will have a hard time in making money. The okes from Pro bike have years of experience in buying bikes abroad and supplying the chain stores in SA with bikes. Good luck to the new owners of Raleigh in SA. I think that who ever you are you need much more that good luck.
  18. It does not matter if we import it. We carry the same guarantee as the manufacturers. Our suppliers abroad is the official agents or distributors of the products that we import. We just replace it and they replace it again in our new shipments.

  22. Hansom Cycles was started by Gotty Hansen and Ettiene Somerjay. They started their plant in Cape Town in the late 60 and eventually moved to Alberton when they were bought out by Peugeot. They then bought it back and moved to Babelegi. Gotty built most of the bikes those days such as Hansom, Zini, Peugeot, Le Turbo ect. Most of SA riders were on his products such as Alan van Heerden, Ertjies Bezuidenhout, Alan Dipple, Mark Beneke, Gary Beneke, Jannie van der Berg, Robbie Mc Intosh, Willie Engelbrecht all Rapport Tour winners and most of SA champions like Wayne Pheifer, Hennie Wentzel, Robbie Dale,Martin Stockit, Johny Koen and even myself. ect ect. It was a fantastic bike winning the most titles in Sa of all makes ever. 2 Great guys that done a lot for cycling in the early years.
