  2. I'll be exhibiting at the Africa Cycle Fair this weekend at St Stithians - stand number 7. Please feel free to bring along and donate any bikes / parts that you no longer need. We still need a bit of everything to build bikes for donation to the underprivileged. Specifically we need 29er forks and wheels to build a couple of frames I have lying about. Hope to see you there! http://www.africacyclefair.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/ACF-LOGO-RGB-512.jpg
  3. My experience with the local importers (Awesome Tools) has been amazing. I've had service requests for both LedLenser and Leatherman products and these guys' service is absolutely stellar. I'd support any initiative from them.

  7. Guys, once again, thank you to everyone who has donated bikes and parts to this initiative. It's changed the lives of 75 people over the past 5 years. I'm once again running low on certain parts - please see if you have any of the following lying around: Derailleurs and shifters - 8/9/10 speedCrank sets and BB'sAll v-brake and disc brake sets and partsForks - v-brake and disc brakeUsable rims, hubs or complete wheels26-inch tyres and tubesIf you have parts that you're prepared to donate, please drop them off at the PwC Bike Park reception and tell them that they are for Build-a-Bike. Thanks so much!
  8. Our 74th donated bike. This one to a gardener, Rafael, who lives in Alex and works in Lonehill.
  9. Thanks Paul. I have no fixed schedule at the moment. You're welcome to leave it at the bike park reception whenever suits you best. Cheers!
  10. Here are the bikes I built on #MandelaDay. So with more than 70 bikes built and donated I've decided that the natural progression of this initiative is that I should take it on full-time. Scary. Especially considering that I'm the bread-winner in the family and have 2 small sons. The only way I can see this work is to get some kind of corporate sponsorship. If anyone has contacts that could help me, please pass them on
  11. I ride 42x16 on a ss roadie and can easily conquer any hill....
  12. You say Hope and budget in the same sentence? The Hopes are excellent value for money and not super expensive. My recommendation all the way.
  13. The course on 18 June is full. If you'd like to attend, please book on the next one happening on 9 July. Visit www.buildabikesa.com for more info.
  14. http://www.buildabikesa.com/product/basic-repair-18-june/ Bookings for our inaugural bike repair and maintenance course are now open.
  15. I have some "vintage" stuff. Let me see what I can pull together this weekend. PM me in the meantime.
  16. This bike came to life this weekend at our new workshop at the PWC bike park. Will go to a new home real soon!
  17. Nelson with his new bike. I never get tired of seeing the smiles when these guys get a new bike from us.
  18. Yes, that's right. Just leave the parts at reception and tell them it's for Build a Bike. Thanks in advance.
  19. Hey guys, I'm looking for MTB hardtail frames, forks, brakes, cranks and wheels if you have any lying about. Thanks in advance.
  20. Remember to return the reach adjust to max lever-to-bar distance before bleeding. I forgot to do this on a previous bleed and the levers travelled a long way before bite. I re-bled the other day with the reach adjusted out as far as possible and then re-adjusted the reach once I'd finished the bleed and now the bite point is perfect.
  21. This is Gift, a gardener who works in Paulshof and lives in Alexandra. Today his life got a bit easier. We gave him this bike so that he can now ride instead of walk.
  22. Thanks Jigghead, much appreciated! Just tell the bike park reception that it's for Build a Bike. Please let me know when you've dropped it off so that I can get it ready for donation ASAP.
