  1. Haha, thanks! It's going to help protect the pedestrians on my commute from being run over by a low-flying SS
  2. Hey Dylan, I was in the store on the weekend - here's some feedback: (read: constructive criticism) Your cycling gear walls as you walk down the stairs on the right are a mess. It took me like half an hour to realise you didn't have what I was looking for. I would recommend you get someone to arrange the products by product type in a logical fashion i.e. Tools, pumps, lights, computers, spares etc. and make the displays less cluttered and easier to navigate - you have the space now! Stock: Your displays are full. Full of the wrong stock. For example: Brake pads. You only have Tektro in stock. What about us with Shimano or Avid brakes? Tools: You have chain whips, but no cable cutters. You have pedal wrenches, but no cone spanners. How about cutting down the number of brands (if you have to) and carry a larger range of products from a brand like Park Tools. Helmets: Giro have 5 off-road helmet models in their range. You carry 2......and why is the Xar R2000 in your store when the Giro list price on their own website $130? If you want cyclists to consider SW as a viable alternative to their LBS, all you have to do is carry the right stock, at the right price and let us cyclists know that you cater for us. It's really not that hard! Incidently, I chose to spend my birthday gift vouchers on running shoes and flip flops because there was nothing in the cycling section that I needed....oh, except the R20 bell for my Single Speed....
  3. Get some Shimano Deore or SLX or XT. Fit and forget, but love them every time you pull the lever.
  4. Happy Birthday to me - from me. Got the twin lens kit with 18-55VR and 55-200mm VR lenses. I finally have a real camera again. http://www.nikon.co.za/tmp/EU/2419865273/3760176746/2327365364/27184057/1391280926/2780083465/2389685182/843544204/3773263762.jpg
  5. Damn, just a pity it's a size too big. It's for my wife and she's 1.63m tall, so 18in wont work. Thanks anyways!
  6. Annyone have a small (16inch) white Inbred SS 29er frame lying about. On-One are out of stock and can't tell me when they'll have again.....and I need one. Yesterday!
  7. How was your 24hr?
  8. The descents were very tame compared to the Nissan Trailseeker race. Nothing hectic.
  9. I saw someone spraying "Spray and Cook" on his bike and wheels prior to the race start. Did this prevent the clay from sticking?
  10. Let this be a lesson to al out there.....hahahahahahaha!!!! Like I said before, I am super surprised how much pad life my brakes have left. Maybe it was the mud slowing me down and not my brakes! If I had ridden the entire course I am sure I would have logged a 8-hour ride.....
  11. I'm using organic/resin pads. I was worried about them, I won't lie. After the bike wash I was surprised and pleased that there was almost no visible pad wear.....Shimano FTW!
  12. I have at least 80% brakes left. Shimano have lekker rotor-pad clearance.....
  13. This is one reason I like my loud Hope hub. Gives the peds some warning.
  14. So after a good hose-down and some Powasol, my bike is looking good as new. (minus some paint on the inside of the chainstays of course)
  15. So here's my story of today's 70km (44km) race. Arrive in the rain. Smile. Get a beer from Swift. Smile. Help my buddy Rudy change brake pads. Struggle. I started just after the bunch of 30-40 riders, caught the bunch in 5 minutes. Decided to stop before concrete road to wait for Rudy who was still struggling to install the brake pads (damn Avids). Met up with Rudy after a 20 minute wait. Used a bomb to re-pressurise his rear shock. Used the rest to re-inflate his rear tyre. Crashed into the river at the ride-through crossing, totally submerged myself and the bike.....at least that washed off some mud. Helped the sweep motorbike rider push his bike out of a ditch. Spun my back wheel up all the climbs, ended up doing a lot of hiking. Rudy's front brake stopped working soon after the start and he cooked his rear brake down the clay-poo hill. Caked my bike with about 30kg of clay and cow poo down the new graded road. Scraped it off by hand. Twice. Hit the bottom of the mountain water point at about 12h00. Decided that the ride was now interfering with beer o'clock and we headed back to VG for a cold one. What an adventure!!!!
  16. Correct, as my name implies, I R DIVER. Tanks need an annual inspection. If it fails, they usually drill a hole in it, making it as useful as a 12kg paperweight. Paintballers, air rifle shooters and anyone that needs some compressed air use these tanks. Available second hand between R500 and R1500, depending on age, condition and seller.
  17. Two words: Buy Shimano.
  18. Yessir, very pretty indeed!
  19. I have a small banana every hour starting from the 30-min mark. I grab some sweets and energy drink at the water tables. I have water in the Camelbak and Game in the bottle. I have a bowl of cereal before I leave home and some sandwiches in the car on the way to the race.
  20. It's gonna be killer, can't wait. See you okes there. Now, where can I buy some cramp-block....????
  21. Noooooooooooo!!!!!!
  22. Thanks to Graham for donating this awesome Trek.
  23. That's a classic! If you know of anyone who can bring it up to Joburg, that would be great.
  24. Thanks to Graham who donated the Trek 2200 road bike last night!
  25. I'm thinking of getting some of these cogs, anyone else keen? They're stainless steel with a wide base and weighs 46 grams (18T) They can be used with 1/8 or 3/32 chains. Price is approximately $45 each. If we order a bunch, shipping will be cheaper. Anyone keen to join in on an order?
