  1. Nowhere, I'm afraid. It's such an awesome ride, all finishers just wanted to ride it again and again and again... didn't worry abt thair time at all! We will time it properly this year and post results soon.
  2. Als reg en dankie. Greyton is eers die Sondag so miskien 'n "two-some"....
  3. Part of the route goes thru the property of the biggest flower/protea exporter in South Africa - AWESOME looking flowers! Hardly any boring gravel roads, mostly very decent jeep track and single track. COME ON.....
  4. No it's not...and plse respect the privacy of lanowners but this I can promise you,..it will become open within the next 6 months and daypermits o holiday permits or yearround permits will be payable then.
  5. The Route will be open to ride for free to all PAID-UP entrants a day before and after the event...how's that for being super NICE!!
  6. ...Got you! Just joking(or f****r*********g) with you daddy Now, come and do the Patatfees in Napier's MTB 60 km if you wanna have fun! This Saturday 15 June 2013 @ 08h00 - check out entrytime.co.za. Mostly a new route(abt 35km was never part of it before) with lovely singletrack and a very, very, verieeeeeee nice downhill tucked in somewhere. Mwah have designed and worked and sweated on this new bully and bully it will. With 1600 metres of climbing(you have one phonecall to your mommy only) The views are splendid - I don't muck around in foothills, I go for the mountains my friend. Lekke patat en snoek na die tyd en hope drank en live music. Naas .....jy gaan spyt wees!!!!
  7. "The Key Objective of the Pro Classic Series is to promote and develop positive racing within the Western Cape that will continue to generate national and international athletes." Can't see how current format will generate national and international athletes - some of the girls "might" benefit, but also questionable.I am a Master, racing with the Vets and we passed loads of sub-vets and also elites on our way to the top of Cape Cobra finish. Most of our own group were shed even before the halfway mark. Unless they group strength together(must be adjusted race for race) it will be the same of the same old thing. Your thoughts...
  8. This is such a ridiculous statement, mostly because of the generalization that goes with it. It's not about the person, IT'S ABOUT THE BIKE! I've seen it in Gholf(the costlier the clubs and the lower the handicap, the more windgat they were. If the handicap was high and clubs expensive, the funnier/more pathetic the image was) Anyway, same in cycling. High end machines can never be a tool to judge the riders's ability, but definately personality. Put the same guy on a BMX, then a MTB and lastly a road bike, you will see 3 different personalities. If you go one step further and differentiate between top-end bikes and ave run-o-the mill types you'll have 6 different personalities. The permutations are actually endless. Bottomline for me - there's assholes everywhere and a lot more nicer people all over the place...we just don't know them - stop generalizing!!
  9. Having similar problems with both IE and Firefox. Have spend too much time here anyway, so easier to just close the browser and do something worthwhile.
  10. Guys, I'm being serious but want to add some fun to the trail. So it's gonna be a fairly modest trail but with sections where the riders will have the option of going the safer route or be a little bit more adventurous and signs will tell The Brave.....to go a certain way and SISSY's to take the safer option. Looks like I hurt some ego's ??? Sorry,.. ... and please help out with names. Thks, Naas Naas V2010-05-28 06:40:29
  11. So I pushed my bike down some ridiculous single track. Guy on bike, who can't climb by the way, came pass me calling me a sissy. Next one laughed at me, third one looked at me like I was something pityful. Fortunately, the wheel of life created some more hilly sections ... My question is and I'm posting this to the real MTB'rs, don't know if there are any on the hub(...MTB'rs are suppose to be kind , considerate, cleancut, upstanding individuals)... ...if I'm a SISSY, what do you call those mostly overweight, seemingly brainless and responsibility-free gentlemen that came past me or behave like that on any other given day? See, I'm building a MTB trail and I wanna put up some signage for the people. Now I've got this one ready: Thank you - all ideas welcome Naas
  12. Chaser, I don't think so at all! Maybe testing for some, but let's take the positive out of his thread even if ANYBODY differs... and that must surely be to have that positive outlook in life regardless of what the source(belief) of it is. For Chaser, and myself, that is Jesus Christ. Because i would like the sun to shine on all, I would tolerate(with love ala Jesus & John Lennon ) all other's beliefs and outlooks without condemning it.
  13. Wonderful!!...glad for both of you ....??? When people test positive, they become negative
  14. For a while now I've been really upset with all the negativity posted on this hub. So this is another negative thread because I don't know how to explain it in a positive way. I can count on my ONE hand, the number of threads posted on this hub since I subscribed, where someone didn't feel the need to be a wise-ass, tried to be oh-so-clever, turned good intentions into bad ones, wanted to point out negativity, call others bad names, swear, correct others, police others, justify him-/herself, etc. , etc., etc. Is that just typical South African, typical cyclist or what!? Come on people! Thanks, Naas
  15. Frail, on who's behalf do you write these letters/mails and can you plse post some of them here? Blessings, Naas
  16. Frail, you don't have to listen to me but you're approaching it the wrong way. The tone of your letter and comments in red(it's harsh & aggressive) will only lead to the issues being put in file 13. They, the EXCO will listen politely but say/do not a lot or nothing at all. Cyclists overreact most of the time and you said it yourself, same issues are being raised every year. So, polish up, show some respect(or else Lance Burger will throw you out ) and see if a gentler attitude won't get a gentler outcome - I'm sure it will. Blessings, Naas
  17. This post and the majority of complaints are extremely "frail" 20 hubbers are involved here. PPA has over 16 000 members. Less than a 150 people attend yearly AGM's - so what's wrong then? Apparently not a lot! 500 riders race league. League is responsible for more than 70% of PPA's daily headaches. League runs on a loss - for the past 5 years. Traffic DON'T want funrides/races on Saturdays - too much traffic. Marshalls at funrides are volunteers from various organising committees - PPA don't know them, have'nt train them and have almost no control over them. PPA dropped over R3 mil into abt 30 cycling related projects last year. The EXCO committee of PPA spend an average of 10 hours per week on committee work- Voluntarily and UNPAID, ask me, I've been there. A golf day makes more money that most funrides and is 75% less effort - be grateful for the amount of funrides still offered., etc. etc. I can go on and on and on. You all know this quote " it's not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country!" Worcester Wheelers said it earlier on but it was completely ignored. Offer your expertice on committee level or elsewhere within the cycling communuty - GIVE something and help. Skip one funride and instead go to the organisers and offer your help. That's what PPA needs - volunteers and help and positive, constructive advice from someone with a little bit of knowledge re the problems behind running an organisation like PPA. With all respect Frail, you've been a member for 8 years you said and I have'nt seen you at the last 3 AGM's PPA held - why not? 20 hubbers is certainly not a convincing mandate! I know there are issues to be addressed but frankly guys, the stuff that you are worrying abt is really small frey and a lot of the suggestions really impractical if you look at the bigger picture. So, how then forward? The idea of getting issues on paper is good. Get someone on the EXCO committee that's committed to stay there for at least 2 years. Suss out the vibe and determine priorities. Start addressing the issues one-by-one from within. Lobby disgruntled members to attend AGM's so that the issues have a stronger power mechanism etc etc. Anyway, good luck. I hope all of you will be an integral part of improving the system for the good of all of us. Naas V2010-05-14 15:06:40
  18. Lose weight through training;Start your climbs slower, gradually gear down and finish them and over the top, stronger - this is the secret to faster climbing. Most cyclists try to stay with faster riders at the beginning of a climb but most are overcooking it. So you eventually catch most of the guys - trust me. Good luck! Naas
  19. If I was a scamster I would also target this site: minimum registration details are required;I don't have to give my real name;Real names can be fraudelent too, how do we know, nobody checks it; no clubdetails are asked for - at least that was a traceable option;no referals are asked for my email address can be any of the 20 I have;I can swear and lie at will here, admin doesn't care much;I can post almost under any forum regardless whether it's the right one or not, admin doesn't care;I know most of the above don't apply to the majority of us who are reasonable wellknown in cycling circles but a lot of people on this hub hide behind pseudonyms. Especially if trading is going on, admin should consider some form of traceability in order to protect us. I don't think admin is doing enough and should jack up their work/site requirements a little bit here.
  20. Can you imagine ET being killed by those youngsters whilst out cycling???? ...just to put a smile on our faces. Grace for all of us in this rather unsettled times. I'm still trying/thinking what to make of it but praying for wisdom for all.

Hi Firewolf, I've started a Cycling Foundation in the Overberg and currently work with abt 85 kids from previously disadvantaged communities. This will be a huge bonus for them to have and motivate - so I want to take up your offer. Thanks, Naas
