  1. The earlier ones were 4cyl, the later ones 6cyl. Once you get the right thing to google, you're away - Gold Wing GL1000 worked for me. I want one almost as much as I want a Pyga. Cheaper too.
  2. Was the Silverwing a v configuration?
  3. That's what I thought. ..
  4. What is this based on? Saw something like this in the mid 90's - had a "I've been left in the sun for the last 20 yrs" patina, and although the style doesn't normally rock my boat, the patina did it. I seem to think it was a Siver Wing or something, but when I google sw it brings up CX type bikes...? I think I might just need one.
  5. That today was min -4, ave 1, max 6 deg C accoring to my Polar watch. Used one skiing glove and one fleece glove. Couldn't tell the difference between either, and at -4 my combination of glove liner, full finger mtb glove and skiing/fleece glove my fingers were still cold. Need to find out where those motorcycling gloves have gone. Or find another skiing glove or fleece glove.
  6. In proper third world countries (this looks like India?) they have little hand steered 'tractors'. You can use them to plough, pull trailers etc - they are all over the place. Seems that in the way of petrol-heads everywhere, they've souped them up and are using them for drag racing.
  7. They're so valiantly trying to defend their position they're missing the point. The reason Noakes promotes the diet is to reduce the damage done to Carb Intolerant folk by the prudent diet. The main benefit being that they don't die the gruesome death that diabetes brings. One of the benefits is probable weight loss, particularly for the Carb Intolerant. But to sell the diet as a weight loss diet is kind of missing the point.
  8. Hmm. Maybe I just need to scratch out the winter gloves I used motorcycling in the UK. Who needs to change gear anyway.
  9. I'd just see how it goes. Wouldn't stress over food - probably choose food over manufactured stuff but wouldn't lose sleep over it. Nuts and droewors is what I used.
  10. On a mountain bike... no danger of that. I think I've made 300 out of 425 on Munro Drive tho...!
  11. There's a horrible section of road through Jet Park where the road narrows up that I pray for a truck to draft. Beats being flattened by it everytime...
  12. No - just embarrassing to be caught having to draught to make 60kmh on a downhill...
  13. Pretty much what I do. Commuting both ways for me takes too long / too wearing. It does however mean that your car is already at work for the days it is -2...
  14. That today my commute started at -2 deg, averaged out at 0 deg and maxed out at 10 deg. It obviously wasn't 10 deg for that long. I need proper gloves. Going to try glove inners, latex gloves, more glove inners, normal long finger gloves. Anyone try neoprene gloves?
  15. I suspect that there is cream and there is cream. One of the guys at work brings us in one litre bottles of cream from a diary in Springs (for R22!) You have to squeeze the bottle to get the cream to come out. Admittedly I haven't done the reading about cream, but it seems to be that this stuff has to have more fat in it than cream that will pour out of a bottle like thick milk..? And if more fat, then less of all the other stuff?
  16. You'll need to do a bit of reading. Easiest option is probably to get The Real Meal Revolution and read the stuff Noakes wrote in the back - will answer most of your questions. Is High Fat, Med Protein, Low Carb. Low Carb is the most important part. If you eat LC, sodium is excreted and insufficient sodium becomes the issue. There is a lot of info in the LCHF thread (link is in the second post of this thread) if you take the time to read it from the beginning. I would think that there is no reason to think that it shouldn't work for black people - our metabolisms are not different.
  17. One of the docs overseas made a comment along the line of 'if you believe eating cholesterol will increase your cholesterol, you may as well eat brains to get cleverer' or some such.
  18. Anyone who spray paints polar bears has got my respect. Speaking of which, had a Norwegian girlf. who used to go on about 'ice beers' which used to confuse the hell out of me till I figured out they weren't for drinking. ...
  19. "Hello coffe-machine my old friend, I've come to talk to you again, Because of sleep softly creeping..." Damn. I'm happy we're going away for the weekend so's I can't train. Am so grumpy that I'm beginning to sound like an @asshole on the @asshole thread, and have just jumped down the throat of Xander at Bicicletta. I'm a danger to myself at the moment. Maybe I need some of the magic oil...
  20. WHAT!! You read those lightweights when there is real info out there...!? That's pretty good going...
  21. Tried that. They're 4 years old. Part of the reason that quality sleep is a rare thing.
  22. Had a girlfriend who only needed 5hrs sleep. Used to go to bed at 2am, up fresh as a daisy at 7am. Could never understand why I was always falling asleep on her. Hmm. Maybe there is a better way to put that. ...
  23. Saddest thing about this whole discussion is that there is no-one saying, 'hey, you know what, maybe the guy is legit'. Shows the state of affairs.
  24. So I started day 1 of a new training program this moring (actually day 2 because day 1 was 'stretch' which I interpret to be 'Watch the tennis at Wimbledon') ... and I keep waking myself up everytime my head hits the desk. What do people to try and stay alert (awake?) after a morning training session (assuming one is not asthmatic and has sneaky inhaler handy ) Coffee on the half hour?
