  1. @Shaheedalex You have the right to feel aggrieved and voice your side of a story, and a public forum audience has the right to comment in whichever they want to (as long as laws aren't broken). There's no winner or loser here. So what's the goal? We assume you feel ignored, want to get the Janus' attention, and ultimately want your R150 refunded. There are many ways to get what you want, but how you do it, and how you treat people is a measure of the calibre of person you are. Try being kind first. The tone of your subsequent replies in the thread to other Hubbers is also abrasive. Maybe it was unintended and you didn't mean to come across this way, but that's how it was received. Instead of loaded accusations in a thread title like "thief", consider something like "Attention Evobikes & Janus". Instead of a personal attack in the first thread message, consider calmly stating your facts and saying what you want. Start by mention tagging @Evobikes and/or @EVOBIKES ONLINE STORE and say you're posting on Bikehub because your emails and phone calls have gone unanswered. Ask them to find your emails and reply to you so that the refund can be finalised. If however your intention for this thread is less about the R150 refund and more about publicly airing your opinion of Janus as a business owner, then say that and don't muddy it into a refund battle. Not excusing their lack of response to your emails in any way, but we doubt Evobikes is out to target you, so unless you've omitted some important context, it's very likely they'll sort you out.
  2. Is "theft from inside a car" an exclusion you opted for to reduce premiums, or is it a standard clause in the underwriting? Which insurance company do you use?
  3. Yeah I guess it was a convenient spot if you live nearby. Feel the pain too about it becoming less safe to bike commute to and from a nice riding area. Moved from S/West Stellenbosch area to Cape Town central and never fully accepted not being able to stay out on TM or Lions Head alone on the bike after dark, or safely ride back home into the city alone. New norms, adapt or die (or adapt and die if you ride the risky spots).
  4. Less to do with maintenance and more to do with Eskom locking down power generating keypoints due to increased alert status about sabotage threats. Accommodating recreational activities is the least of Eskom's problems and rightfully the least of their priorities. We live in the Western Cape (well one assumes nobody from JHB is quibbling about Koeberg access) so go and enjoy any one the buffet of cycling options available to us.
  5. Which rim did you smoosh? Was it the Lyne Amp Carbon wheelset you bough recently?
  6. Interesting that you noticed this. Is it a reality that carbon is more likely to pick up superficial damange vs alu, or do you think the surface coating is inferior on certain carbon rims? All rims pick up a few knocks and chips from rocks over time - especially the back wheel.
  7. It's been almost a year since Lyne released their AMP Carbon wheels. If you bought these and put them through their paces, please share some feedback about: how the rims have stood up to impacts? reliability of the Lyne JB02HE hubs? Seems to be mixed feedback about Lyne's hubs depending who you ask. Some claim the hubs hold their own against the pricer Hope/DT options, and others say Lyne's hubs aren't great for materials strength, internal tolerances, axle fails etc.
  8. Is that Lyne's AMP Carbon wheelset? Are you running their high engagement hub option? Keen to hear your thoughts/opinion about these wheels, and specifically the hubs?
  9. Take a look at the Specialized bibs & baggies to see how they do it. Small fabric loops on both which you can link up to keep the baggies "attached" so that they don't migrate around while riding.
  10. Taking a chance - do you have any stock of these which just aren't listed on your site: https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/deore-xt-m8100/PD-M8120.html If yes a great price on them would be amazing please?!
  11. I've got a spare brand new RaceFace chainring which doesnt fit my new bike. Still in packet. DM me if you're interested and want to make an offer.
  12. Take a look here Abel and make contact if interested: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/375922-specialized-camber-comp-carbon-price-negotiable/ Not brand new but cared for as good as new! Ticks the boxes for carbon frame, almost as efficient as the Epic for long distance rides but much more comfortable. Also playful enough for some trail riding when you spot an enticing piece of singletrack!
  13. One of these VERY please and MUCH thanks https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/sunrace-11spd-cassette-mx8s ( 11-46T [EAZ] ) ...and one of these to go with it please: https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/sram-pc-1130-chain-11-spd
  14. You really need to add Specialized to the mix of options... Their bikes are some of the best out there, serious money spent on R&D, and let's face it, it's a very hot brand to be associated with! They make some great branded kit too! Some new longer travel versions of the Epic available now, and a couple of nice used Spez bikes in the classifieds to consider! For what it's worth... Specialized vs Scott: Sam beat Nino at the Stellenbosch WC...you were there and saw first hand that Spez is faster!
  15. Forgot to add: You'll have to play around with chain length too. There no magic recipe for this because it'll be affected by you bike's chainstay length, suspension design etc. Be careful about installing and testing the setup on a workstand, and then assuming that all works fine because it shift smoothly like it does in that video posted about.
  16. Mufasa, Which derailleur do you have? If it's the medium cage model (XT RD-M8000-GS) then the published cassette limit is max 46T. This is as per Shimano's spec here: https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/deorext-m8000/RD-M8000-GS.html Scroll down the page a take a look at "Low sprocket_Max." spec. It is 42T if you're running (2x11-speed) and it is 46T if you're running (1x11-speed). I haven't personally set up and tested this derailleur in a 1x11 with cassette larger than 46T so this advice is speculative, but you can try running a 50T setup which might work but be prepared to have sub-par shifting and potentially some problems. Best bet is to stick with 46T, or to replace your derailleur with one designed for larger ranges if you want to go bigger.
  17. Alternatively...hang onto current cockpit and sell bike to replace with a new 2019 Stumpjumper when they're released later this year... 6 months post-wedding is enough "no bike toys" waiting time right?!
  18. Mopkop - which model LightBicycle rims are those?
  19. Yikes - this is embarrassing, I can't remember my stem length now Stem: Specialized Trail, 3D forged alloy, 4-bolt, 6-degree rise (I think it's 75mm long)Bar: Specialized, 6061 alloy, 6-degree upsweep, 8-degree backsweep, 27mm rise, 750mm widthGot told during bike fit that I'm on the cusp of between a L and XL frame, and combo that with the 2017 Camber's fairly short toptube length, the advise was that I can't go any shorter on the stem. Reading the Rapide article Lincolm posted above, it sounds like wider bars with shorter stem cancel out any change in reach?
  20. Is it always necessary to reduce stem length with an increased bar width? I know the common advice is "go wide on the bars and short on the stem". Recent bike fit showed that I'm on the upper limit of my frame size and can't go any shorter on the stem. Am considering replacing the OEM 750mm riser bar with a 780mm bar with less rise, but shortening the stem isn't an option. Bike is a Spez Camber. Is there a downside to only increasing bar width while leaving stem unchanged?
  21. Sent an email to sales@cwcycles.co.za with these details, but here they are just incase: Front: 15mm axleRear: 12mm axle, SRAM XD Order No: #103678 Gracias!
  22. Stuff of legend - thanks so much. Order placed BUT, I couldn't see where to specify axle sizes and freewheel body type. Order# 103678. Should I send your online team an email with these details?
  23. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE... Pair of Hope hubs at a ridiculously good price?! Wedding year for me and my last chance to buy bike goodies before the Mrs-to-be becomes the bank monitor... https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/hope-pro-4-front-hub-32-hole https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/hope-pro-4-rear-hub-32-hole
