  2. Yes. You don't have to do the stayover, and you can do any of the distances on both days, or only one of the two days. We are planning the 50km on the Saturday afternoon and the 25km on the Sunday morning.
  3. Riding my son's Scalpel Si was a revelation to me. Don't underestimate that racing machine's ability to do the rough stuff. If I could only have one bike, that would be it.
  4. Yup, the 30km is one tough bugger. Did it a few years ago on my 26er. Did a nice OTB on the top over some rocky stuff. On the first rocky climb there was a sign that said 'You were warned!'. Lots of witty signs along the route. Best atmosphere after the race with lots of prizes and lucky draws.
  5. They have caught the Venezuelan flue. There is no cure for that.
  6. And I end up being slap bang in the middle of the bell curve. Mr Average as usual, my whole life through.
  7. It is HTML. If you are clever enough the data can be extracted. <tr class="Nor"> <td id="0" class="Cell "> <a class="Bold" target="" href="results_by_person.aspx?PID=692864">Gaze, Sam</a> </td> <td id="0" class="Cell CenterAlign">2:39:42</td> <td id="0" class="Cell CenterAlign">1/23028</td> <td id="0" class="Cell CenterAlign">M</td> <td id="0" class="Cell CenterAlign">1/18590</td> <td id="0" class="Cell CenterAlign">$ </td> <td id="0" class="Cell CenterAlign">1/156</td> <td id="0" class="Cell CenterAlign">M Elite </td> <td id="0" class="Cell CenterAlign">1/1334</td> <td id="0" class="Cell CenterAlign">40.95</td> <td id="0" class="Cell CenterAlign"></td> <td id="0" class="Cell CenterAlign"></td> <td id="0" class="Cell CenterAlign"></td></tr>
  8. Was the same for us in 3G. There was no such problem there last year. What was different?
  9. Maybe I must go back to riding with the last groups. Loved it when I rode there in my early days. You see get to see the true heroes that make this race so special.
  10. You must put that in comic sans. Even taking Ou Kaapse weg he would have struggled to get there the same time as you. I doubt 6K have even started when you got to Cape Point.
  11. Or just park at the Waterfront. Did it that way for every Argus/CTCT I did from 2011, and never had a problem. I rather pay the R40 parking fee and know my car is safe.
  12. Same here. Just past UCT I overtook a guy from the 4H group. Our group (3G) has just started, and at that time we were already amongst some 3E and 3F riders with that SNAFU at the start getting on Nelson Mandela Boulevard which caused a traffic jam. I though the marshals were supposed to check the numbers when the riders enters the shute.
  13. My thoughts are with them, and with you guys. Not nice when something we love to do ends up in tragedy.
  14. Not to worry. I was passed by a lady, she looked to be deep in her 70s with 16 tours done from the 3H group.
  15. Must suck for the wannabe TdF sprinters to be pipped on the line by a MTBer.
  16. BTW, for the out of towners. This is what is called a black south-easter. The wind is not always very strong , but it is accompanied with rain. Like it is now.
  17. 4.50 I struggled a bit here and there. Last year I did 4h16. I also struggled to get groups. They formed and split up all the damn time. Too many times I had to do an interval after following a dead wheel. Was definitely slower through Blue Route. Could not find one decent bunch through there.
  18. Why so many crashes in the front bunches. Can't you racing snakes ride a bike. Did not see any from the mid bunches. Though there were a few numbnuts with their tandems that were testing our reflexes.
  19. Yoh, that was tough. Took some shots to the body. My time was more the half hour longer than last year. My son's time also. Rode from 3G and the wind hammered us from Simon's Town to Smits. And through Sunny Valley it was no picnic either. At least it is done and dusted, and all of my family is safe through it.
  20. Went for a warm up ride this arvie doing the Lord Charles climb and back home. I foresee the biggest issue will be crosswinds coming downhill. Riding into block headwind is just like climbing a looooong hill. At least it keeps you cool.
  21. Too late for me bro. You are stuck with my spawn.
  22. I really don't care who makes the decision and why. In the end they impact my back pocket with their nanny state decisions.
  23. Yes, I have been riding with my chip that way for the past 7 years. No problem. Just thread one of those velcro straps through the slot and leave it there forever. You can even wash the shoe with it on. Also, lessens the chance of you forgetting your chip at home. Even if you switch bikes.
  24. I have been in CT now for 23 years. When the HH mountains looks like they are today, we are in for a few days of strong SE. You can take that to the bank. As long as these snowflakes don't cancel the race, I will ride it. Come hell or high water. If they cancel it, it will be the last they see me.
