  1. Lady on the bus I rode on had a crash on the bumpy road after Smits. Pinerello frame broke into 2 pieces from the crash.
  2. Yes, in my case it did not matter anyway. I bailed at 54km. I was sick 2 weeks ago from a throat infection that affected my lungs also. I told myself I should be able to manage it, but my body told me otherwise. I had a mental fight with myself from before Smits, but at the WP after Smits decided it was not on for today. Would have been my 9th race.
  3. What an utter crap shoot that start process was. We were in 4E, was at the point 10 minutes before our start and we ended up starting with 5E. And there were lots and other 4E riders that started with us. SO it was either the process or the marshals at our shute were totally clueless.
  4. My season's roadie training starts with the CTCT tomorrow morning. ???? I am soo screwed. This year's long Cape winter really did not help my training at all.
  5. Yes. My mom's fetish for shoes was the cause for many fights between her and my dad and almost led to divorce. My dad had no sport or hobbies in which to sink his money into, instead just trying to keep the home's finances afloat while my mom did the spending.
  6. Doing a relaxed ride tomorrow. Weather will be great for a PB ride but I am well out of shape this year. So I will stop and have a rest at every second water point just enjoying the tour for what it really is about.
  7. Why I do not ride early mornings anymore on weekends. And this being the first weekend on LD Level 1 when alcohol can be purchased over the weekend. As usual nothing will happen to the motorist.
  8. I am really excited about the talent that Tadej displayed at such a young age. Not the type of rider that hides behind his team. He leads by example and never looked out of sorts when he was not surrounded by team mates.
  9. That chase group rode like a bunch of muppets. None of them were interested in working together.
  10. What did P & P used to call this? An angry peloton...
  11. I am gonna laugh my arse off if the break succeed today.
  12. Made my own Danish Oil concoction. Seems to work nicely. 1/3 Woodock No 25 1/3 Boiled Linseed Oil 1/3 Turpentine BTW, where can I find coloured gel stains? In particular, looking for electric blue coloured stain for my next project, which will be a rack for my vinyl LPs. I am a bit wary of water based stains.
  13. You own a pair of sidecutters?
  14. Lesson 1: Lend out my expensive level to my sister in law. Never got it back. Lesson 2: I never got asked for permission and is still is sore point 15 years later.
  15. There are 2 things a man never lends out: his wife and his tools. I have learnt my lessons.
  16. Asking questions here. The book cases are almost done. My son said he wants a natural finish. So my preference has always been Danish Oil. Reason being that I try to stay from sprayed on finishes like water-based varnish as much as possible because of my Asthma. But I can always make exceptions if you people recon it is better for that application. There is also the wipe-on varnish option. But I have not yet been able to find those here. What do you think?
  17. Thank heavens I bought 2 GTX 1080Ti GPUs from my boet when I did. For 5K each nogals.
  18. Wonder how our socialist friends in the EFF are going to receive the news that 51% of SAA will be owned by someone outside the government.
  19. Just got my Makita. Impressive little machine. I can highly, highly reccommend both Power Tool Services and Power Tool Repairs. Their service is good, especially Power Tool Services, and the delivery is fast also if they have it in stock.
  20. The scalpers are already salivating. I am trying to build a PC for my son's friend whom has started studying IT. I cannot find a decent lowish midrange card for a civil price anywhere. 15k for a 1660Ti? They must be thinking we are fools.
  21. I stay away from anything Tork Craft if possible by any means. I bought a Tork Craft tool a few years ago that was so poorly made that I had to throw the thing away. I bought the MAKITA DRT50ZJX2 Trimmer on advice received from Capricorn. I already have a Festool OF 1400 for the bulk of my routing work.
  22. Thank you. I already have the Makita cordless system with the Impact Driver and the Drill. With the Charger and 2 batteries.
  23. I figured I need a laminate trimmer. Question is should I get a cordless one, or corded one?
