  1. Are you talking International flights?
  2. It is weird that you would have to "lie" to transport equipment... is there anyone here who actually works for ACSA... I would like to know first hand... Do airlines know that certain Sporting codes travel more and so charge less... is that not just as politically uncorrect as discriminating against skinny-fat, black-green-orange-white-yellow(PC... all colors were in alphabetical order so as not to offend anyone)... if it is about weight... then spread the cost as it is measured...
  3. Dude... I just read that too... Last time i flew to Durbs for Outsurance expidition - BTW awesome ride - I made a scene about that exact fact! hehe... nah... I doubt that change would have been made because of me... would it??... am i to be rewarded for my rant on FAT people??? I wonder...
  4. Dude... My brother is a rippling muscle container of a slim 95kg!! so to him you are a skinny little runt! my point is not that 85kg or 95 kg is light or heavy... everything is relative... I guess I have an issue with people who do not take care of themselves... my bad
  5. haha... you obviously either do not travel with your bike... dont care for your bike... or you like to bend the rules and make the rest of us pay for your cheating the system! Personally... I still suck it up and pay the money because the alternative is just unthinkable - I guess this is what the airlines count on... and FAT people My personal opinion on FAT people stands... however I guess the real rant should be at the politically correct airlines who know that the most people who travel are overweight because more than 50% of South African's are!!! - medical fact. (sic) PS... about your observation of my hairless skinny little runt... its true!!!...but you also forgot OCD... and a few other morsels..
  6. What irks me is the fact that there are FAT people... yea I said it... it is relevant... FAT people who weight more that me my bike and my luggage and my tools and my girlfriend put together and they pay for one seat... with carry-on luggage and with 20KG of checked-in luggage!! I say this is relevant because we are charged per kilogram for extra weight... airlines need to make sure of the weight limits of the plane else it may not lift off the ground... seriously! OK now I guess because a bike has to be carried carefully and packed carefully... so that could account for extra charges-only because they toss the "normal" bags like rubbish! Now where the Fk do they get to the R300 per bike per flight? My ticket to the Golovane return is R1000... sweeeeet! but to take my 10KG bike will cost another R600 for the return trip!!! I aint taking any luggage other than my carry-on cycling kit... so in total my total weight for everything (me, bike, tools clothes) is 85KG at most... Now some fat bastard is paying the same...
  7. Yes you need a passport... The SA Border post is 8km from the top... and the Lesotho Border post is right at the top.... so you ride for 8 km in NO-MANS-LAND!
  8. WOW! There goes my bragging rights I thought I was flying down... from border post to boarder post: 11min 43 sec.. You guys got back to the Sani Hotel in 30 minutes!!! Bloody Hell!!! Respect!
  9. creeeeking noises when force is applied... Steps I take: Pedals - take them out... clean screw and the hole in the crank... put some grease on the bottom half of the screw and some loctite on the deepest end of the crank hole... screw in... Chain - clean and keep clean... make sure it is lubed after cleaning... spin the cranks a while... then wait a few minutes and wipe the sucker clean - the lube is already where it should be the other stuff will just attract dust which will squeal deraileur hanger - grease and loctite rear deraileur - keep all moving parts lubed... one squirt of any lite spray lube... then wipe off excess Saddle - spray some lube on the connection parts with the seat post and wipe off excess Seat post... use carbon paste BB - use same process as pedals... fasten correctly crank - use same process as pedals... make sure it is fastened correctly... if you are smart and have a dual suspension... do the same with the pivots if you still have a noise it could be that your cassette is not fastened... if you still have a noise... you could have tinnitus!
  10. yea but it was not everyone... only a select few and at what pace? and they are genetically vastly different - not a racist comment . as a way of life, if you needed to do something to survive... It could be that your body will adapt?? or does that mean we came from apes and god does not exist and all buddist sleep all day- I am sorry what thread is this again??? NOW GET OUT AND RIDE YOUR BIKE!!!!
  11. oh by the way... even the **** i spew is mostly *** and only really only pertains to me and my limited experience
  12. I have just learned that no-one knows what is the best of anything! Yea you can try whatever you like and it may or may not work for you... but its all just guess work backed up with a bit of science to prove the point they are trying to make with the technology that we have at the time! It just makes me sick that we hold a guy so highly when he says he was wrong for so long... and we listen to him again(sic)... Julius could learn a thing or 2 about politics from a guy who's career more than likely needed a boost! (sic)
  13. I am soo glad FC has started winning again Everyone respects him... last year he should have won at 2 classics... but whenever he rides people just follow and wait for him to fade... Hie does all the work even when it is not for his own team! Well done dude  For him to have won by that margin... wow... he must have demoralized all in site!!! I think it was van sommeren who just followed him and won a classic last year... and everyone said how great it was for a domestique to win a classic... pffft... I think it is great when the best guy wins the race!
  14. dude... I have the same issue on my stationary bike... It is a carbon frame and when I stand and the bike sways slightly... and the magnet moves because it hits the arm of the speed & cadence sensor... it goes south!! speed mostly is halved... but it bounces between zero halved and proper speed... Best fix is to fasten the sucker tight as hell on the spoke!
  15. all speculation... and the worst is that it was 400 less than the smallest amount that they test for anything in your system! if he did dope(sic) then the precedent set on other clenbuterol athletes should have presided!
  16. Half-Life is 36 hours.. I bet all you blokes whole say he was doping with Clenbuterol are fair-weather Manchester United supporters too Newcastle for president Seriously guys... the bloke weighs a feather... why would he need to use that *** to increase muscle mass / weight loss (sic) Even if he took it the day before... the moles would have been waaaaaaay higher! They were last trying to surmise that it was in his supplements.. . NO PROOF... the burden of proof is somehow switched to the defendant who has the burden of innocence! How on earth can you prove that you ate meat that was tarnished... it may have been 1 animal from 1 farmer who was trying to make money in hard times... even if it was 100 animals... that meat is all gone now... sic...sic...sic
  17. I did Sabi last year... not a wet spot in sight... actually the only wet section was a 10 meter section at the top of the "glass slide" climb... bet you this year it will be a mudfest! I hated Sabi because I was under the impression there was singletrack-a-plenty... NOT! only 300m!! Well maybe not hated... just disappointed... I fell on the first downhill at about 50km/h not too much damage... Good luck!... I am sure it will be awesum
  18. rolling resistance is a serious issue in cycling... If you wanna get Technical: it all depends on the terrain, your strengths and weaknesses, tyre pressure weight if your wheels and then your actual tread... All of these play a role - pun intended - in rolling resistance... the best way to do check this out : put on a tyre. set up the pressure. ride down a hill... no pedaling... try as much as possible to start from dead stand still... got to the top again... change tyre pressure... repeat... change tyres and repeat... riding in a straight line most tyres compare fairly similarly... its when you engage the side knobbs when the rolling resistance is at its greatest... hence the race king being so good... but if you are not technically proficient you will see your ass! I would put the rocket ron on the front and the racing Ralph on the back.
  19. Andrew... Did you buy your bike from Cajees - they lurve that tyre! My opinion: Larsen TT are not at all mud or even wet tyres... Perfect for dry hardpack and shale slightly loose ground... NOT even close to all weather tyre. @Capricorn is correct... the wider the spaces the thicker the mud can be... Some kinds of clay will clogg up any tyre - Dirtmax after serious rain! - but wider spaces will lessen the speed at which it will clogg up
  20. Contador Rocks!... As far as I am concerned the verdict does not prove he was guilty of enhancing his performance(sic)! and the amounts taken... i am not sure you guys understand the volumes that they are describing!!! by the letter of the law he is guilty... but it aint gonna enhance a mouses' performance! And seriously... if you are being tested every day leading into the mountains...because that is your strength...are you gonna risk doing a hack job! In the 2010 tour He had been in the overall lead since Stage 15 (19 July) Stage 16 (20 July) He and Schleck finished 6:45 behind the leaders Rest Day (21 July) Stage 17 (22 July )He and Schleck finished together at the top of the tourmalet No real difference between the two. During the TT Contador only took 31 seconds into Andy... c'mon... in 2011 he put 1:32 into schleck, he even put 36 seconds into Fabian... and this is with no positive any tests!! I think he was out of form when he won in 2010... in 2011 he had the worst year... considering his talent! and still killed the TT... We all have our opinions... MIne is : NOT GUILTY
  21. everything is relative! when I was starting out in races I "collected" medals for the back end of the race... it was my motivation when I was exhausted..."I am gonna get that medal to remind myself that I can do it" I have a box of them and everyone is a key to remembering the pain and agony... and sometimes joy of the effort I put into my preparation and race... some people just have good memories and dont need objects to remind them... that's also cool. Just because you no longer see the benefit of "meaningless" awards... does not mean it will not motivate newcommers to the sport.. like it did me! and you do understand the implications of a sport with dwindling numbers? you do understand that it is not just about you! If you want to give to a charity... then do so... do not expect everyone else to do it for you... you have a check book? internet? get the bank detail of a charity and EFT your contribution to them... it will take less time than riding your bike in a race... and then you could give them something substantial instead of the R10 that the medals cost! My last race was the Namiba Desert Dash... I came 52nd... I got a medal with my name and time engraved onto it... I will treasure that object!
  22. @Niner... seriously dude... I am hoping that you are just ragging everyone, because that point of view is not just idiotic... but befits a moron! If you were serious: keep it up... you and your bike most probably weigh less than a carbon bottle cage... in an argument with a small shiny piece of metal.. you may be "right"... but you are gonna come off worse... I hope that nothing serious happens to you, because I do not wish harm on anyone... but your selfish attitude is gonna make some motorist think " that's the last straw" and take it out on some innocent cyclist who follows the rules... perhaps me! Thanx for nothing!
  23. "reasonable" is another discussion completely... ok here goes my reasonable attempt: get the shifters... the component most likely to break is the RD... and as i understand it the shift ratio between the shimano drivetrain are identical... if you like the smooth feel and bling of the shifters... get them and buy some awesome cables that are closed the whole way
  24. for those of you who do not know... @chickenrun4me won the inaugural TransDrakensberg on a 26" 14kg bike!! His name however will not be up in lights because there was a weak link in the team ... and bailed on him after 40km he continued with his "truck" only be to disqualified because his team mate was not up to the task... With regards to his question... if all you want is to go faster without conditioning your body anymore... then slither down the slippery slope of "Bike-doping" - I like that one! Sleep well knowing that if you ride anything with smaller wheels... you are gonna be 10-15% slower...
  25. mmm... let me see.... you want the answer to your question and nothing else   ... you are on the wrong forum dude! I guess I can answer your question... I think you are wasting your money! You will notice no difference... except perhaps 30g which you would not notice if you took a piss before your ride anyway ...
