  1. These are nothing like the race photo's Ronelle puts up but I thought they would be fun - if you were there. The international races were cancelled as the heat of the Giro proved to be too much for some riders.

  3. Bad luck ??? I think you should keep going ... Israeli mine victim dies after falling from rescue helicopter By Daily Mail Reporter Last updated at 8:46 AM on 13th March 2009 Comments (2) Add to My Stories An Israeli hiker who wandered into a minefield fell to his death while being hoisted into a hovering rescue helicopter. Alaa Agabriya, who lost a foot when one of the devices exploded, slipped from a harness when he was just a few feet from the military aircraft?s door. The 24-year-old had earlier been treated by medical teams on the ground after they spent 90 minutes making their way through the minefield. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/03/12/article-1161527-03DC1C7B000005DC-52_468x381.jpg Rescue effort: Mr Agabriya had been hoisted within feet of the helicopter when he fell Once strapped in to a harness, Israeli Air Force rescuers began to hoist him into the cockpit. But somehow he slipped and, after being picked up for a second time, died from his injuries en route to hospital. An initial investigation revealed that Mr Agabriya had arrived at the minefield near Beit She'an in north-east Israel with two friends with the intention of having a picnic. The three ignored the warning signs posted near the field and ventured in. Several minutes later an explosion took place, injuring Mr Agabriya.

  5. actually - if you closely - you can see that his shoes and socks are just similar colours - look at the previous pic and you can see the buckles and straps. That said - I'll still wear my white booties thank you very much - "smurf feet" as my wife likes to call them

  9. I'm assuming this was on an IDT - i.e. resistance not rollers. (In 2005 I did 205km on my rollers - 9hrs. 7hrs ride time. Had a total of 2hrs downtime - which included and hour for lunch and interviews.) well done none-the-less
  10. Does anybody have any details on this?? We were returning from our ride around 09h30 ... lots more traffic on Cedar road than usual - we stopped to fix a puncture outside great north timber - a pedestrian said that a cyclist had been hit in the cedar road dip - and the helicopter had just taken off .... this was strange because it's only 3km from Life Hospital so it unfortunately must be serious enough to medi-vac him to Sunninghill ... We descended down the hill - to find some Metro cars next to a taxi with a smashed windscreen and some serious damage to the body-work - we're assuming it's related to the same incident but can't be sure. Any one hear anything ??
