  1. What a sick bike, looks like a lot of fun !
  2. At least Specialized concept stores give loan Bikes, they gave me a camber to ride when my Epic frame was being warrantied.
  3. had same issue landed up riding 53.7km, did you turn left at that railway line bridge? I followed other riders down there, about 8 of us then realised we had ridden wrong way and turned around.
  4. agreed, u riding tomorrow ? But you see SASeeding doesn't import this series..
  5. You 100% correct Patches. My partner and I didn't do many SA seeding races so they put us in Batch L for the trail on day 1, we where shocked at how pathetic riders skills where in the most basic forest single tracks. I mean come on nothing on day 1 was technical, just lovely flowing single tracks. We raced as hard as we could on day 1 just so we could enjoy the rest of the race, started at front of batch B on day 2 and it was like we had that valley to ourselves. It is a different race when you don't have people going 5km p.h and stopping to get off for a tiny root. So yeah I dont think it's the oaks near the front but being in the back batches is super frustrating especially if you enjoy bombing single track.
  6. This is a pipe dream, even with cycle lanes imagine how our awesome law abiding taxi drivers are going to abuse them. But yeah it would be awesome to cycle to work safely
  7. you will be fine dude, minimal climbing very nice fast flat race.. The 2nd half when you get into the red barn single track is awesome, just flows on smooth trail for km's..
  8. What he said.. Ridden both, the brain suspension is superior and less cabling on your bars, the the twinloc control just creates a mess on the handlebars.. But that is just my opinion.
  9. Oberon camping at Hartbeespoort and various others; ride at Van Gaalens, nicest trails around these parts.
  10. Jeeez that rim looks hectic, hope my wheels are okay What a bike and body breaker of note, that terrain is just insane it's either loose rock, flattened veldt grass or soft sand. The monster climb was the part of the race I enjoyed most, the rest of the ride, not so much!
  11. Yes mine is available, PM me your details
  12. Also have a 70km available, came down with flu so no way I'm riding...
  13. Exactly, well said!
  14. The climbing for the first 27km was insane, every time I thought we had reached the top another hill came. Had to stop to help my mate on that rocky downhill just after the summit, got two impact punctures that we couldn't fix so he had to walk down the mountain All in all tough race!
  15. Awesome! The monster is one the best MTB tests there is
  16. I see the online entries at cycle lab are closed, you guys reckon we will get late entries on the day? Field doesn't look that big, 108 for the 45km?
  17. the biggest danger on that part of the Spruit is Dogs that should otherwise be on leashes!!!
  18. I Agree! make the 45 min journey out of Fourways to Van Gaalens, variety of trails to ride and much better than anything in JHB.
  19. you make a good point about the Oil in the damper in the right leg, shot for all the Info, thought I was the only one struggling with this and feel more comfortable that guys say the standard settings are way too hard! Will check it all out tonight and let you know
  20. Thanks for the help, been trying to find this Nirvana setting but not 100% yet, I was just a little concerned that it feels good to me at like 40Psi below what the chart recommends. Will do the sag test tonight, thks again.
  21. I know they are crazy hard, look its great on the rocky technical downhill stuff but uncomfortable over all.
  22. Hi, Can anybody running these forks or know about these forks assist me with a tech Q. This being a dual air version, you have both the + at the top and - at the bottom. According to the little print on the shock it says for my weight 81-90kg I should be running at 120psi on + and - . When I try this setting it is SUPER hard, you literary have to put your body weight on it to make the shock engage. So in normally riding it rattles my hands badly. Now if I soften it to like 70psi and + and - then it feels right. The reason I say this, is on my brothers Bike he has a RockShox Recon Silver which is a single Air, when I add the correct pressure for my weight the shocks feel 100% and so do other air shocks I have tested. I suspecting something may be wrong with this fork, any ideas or should I just send it in for a service? The fork is still quite new though, done less than 100hrs.. Thanks in advance
  23. do you know if there are similar events in JHB area?
  24. A good place to park is Riverside shopping centre in Bryanston, from there you join the spruit and ride the single track all the way up to the new Pick N Pay (Cnr Republic/William Nicol), exit the spruit onto William Nicol and ride up Republic road on Tar about 1km until you reach park on your left, turn down the single track there which takes you through Hurlingham. You will cross the road again in Blairgowrie at Jan Smuts and then Conrad drive just after, carry on with single track into Delta Park. (You can loop around Delta Park by turning right at the entrance and following the track all the way around the park and back down to the spruit. Just keeping following the Spruit over Rustenberg road in Victory park and then over another crossing into the bottom of Emmerentia. At the top of that section you will enter the gates of Emmerentia and you can look around the whole park up to the forest at the top. That route is +-35km Just check on Google maps you will see the crossings I am talking about OR follow the other riders, Enjoy!
