    If there is footage, it’ll be sealed with the involvement of minors. But police and those involved with the case will have seen it. Again, it points to the fines. All in all it’s an ugly situation which could have been avoided. Joys of hindsight. A lot of the various forum and online comments leave a lot to be desired though. Especially when people talk about cancel culture.

    You don’t know that as fact. None of us know what actually transpired at the station between the parents, Poel and the authorities. The fact is, an admission of guilt fine was paid. That speaks to itself in just about any state. The LIKELY truth is that he lost his rag and did confront the kids, and maybe pushed them without intending to cause harm. Which is what led to the hotel calling the police, because no matter what county you’re in. You’re bound by law to do so, and just common decency really. Him, the cops and parents etal sat down and the fines are a net result between everyone. Obviously legal representation are bound to appeal that decision. Hopefully a lesson has been learned by everyone. And time to move on.

    Ditto. In fact I actually did get a hiding as a kid (13) when we ruined someone’s gate buzzer playing tok tokkie. The oke caught us and waited until our parents arrived. He was properly the moer in, but didn’t touch us or anything. Because it’s the parents call. Anyway, we got the hiding and had to help out in his garden for the next week after school.

    No. OP bought the bike late July. It’s now nearly October. With only three rides, which means the bike was standing. Sealant dries out. Tyres lose pressure.

    Why? If anything this thread is a good lesson and a positive reflection on Bike Market. Almost can’t buy that kind of good PR, but can easily pay a pretty penny in ******* up that good value with a legal love letter.

    Good times, that and the Mintek sorties! They stopped doing it some years back, apparently a security risk. But in reality I think it was because it became too much PT to organise. I know Taroko our at Modderfontein are doing weekly social night rides/runs on a Wednesday. But nothing racing wise.

    Not ok. We also don’t know the actual specifics of the incident. Will say that many people’s reactions are pretty disturbing towards the minors. How many of us played silly pranks as kids, beyond ‘tok tokkie’ . But if the police are called by hotel staff after an incident and an accusation concerning minors, they have to act. Doesn’t matter who the person is or the event. A grown man having an altercation with two girls 12-14. Rather just phone the hotel reception or your team management.

    Nothing wrong there. I’ve ridden and raced tyres through their lifespan with a tyre plug. Likewise with just about every other rider I know. Your tyre isn’t compromised by any stretch and you don’t have a bike with a defect. Top up with sealant and off you go, at worst you need to replace with a mushroom plug or gator patch.

    Went their separate ways after Yeti gave the distribution rights to another company. They worked the fat bike tours for a bit, which I believe is back in the swing. Not what Colin is upto currently, Jarad is running various tours and did his field study guide qualification during lockdown. Kirk was carrying on in the the old MSC space which he reopened and was continuing work with the brand under the new agents. Sadly passed away a few months ago.

    💯... was involved with a retail setup and we had first look at some of the preproduction models. I had the option of buying this one (Elite) or the Pro. The spec was much of a muchness imho. The difference was the Pro had GX Eagle and carbon wheels while the Elite had Shimano 12spd XT, but with the alloy Sun Ringle wheelset. Also the black on black is always a win for me. Imho this model is probably the best sweet spot ITO of pricing/value/spec performance. Especially given the current challenges in supply chain and manufacturing.
