  1. Couple of ‘MTBrs’ who did pretty well at SA Roads. Saw Candice Lill and Tiffany Keep performing. Plus there was the XCO week before. Nice!
  2. Looks like it was Travis Stedman in a sprint. Those last few km, bliksem 🤯 - https://fb.watch/iEqxRD_6sO/?mibextid=kdkkhi
  3. SA Champs, Elite Men road race - https://fb.watch/iEnljhycRb/?mibextid=kdkkhi Also some general coverage on CSA Stories https://instagram.com/cycling_sa?igshid=NDk5N2NlZjQ=
  4. Cheers. Didn’t forget, didn’t see it as the signal was all over. So a lot was missed. As much as the comm vehicle may not have had any influence, don’t believe it should have been there on the final straight. The real point is the women’s team race was a fantastic event worth following. Great that Team DSM took the initiative.
  5. It was properly good racing, some good attacks by Taneal Otto and few others. Maddie Le Roux and Zanri Strydom performed an exceptional breakaway in last km and were caught again, just. Zanri then attacked from the back in the last km or so while everyone was watching each other. She nearly held the break as well, the bunch caught her in the last few hundred metres. It’s unfortunate that the comm vehicle was in the final straight. Should’ve rolled back or pulled off route.
  6. Very much so in your part of the world. Flipping hell, organising mates together for an outing there is like a Russian roulette of kittens with squirrel brains! 😝
  7. The coverage is a terribly frustrating hodge podge of accounts and platforms to follow. Twitter is the best bet between CSA Cycling, CSA Road (Cycling SA) and Cycle Nation There’s a basic livestream on FB for part of the Elite Women and Elite Men, thanks to one of the teams. https://fb.watch/iDba55Fz2F/?mibextid=kdkkhi
  8. Need a LOT more than that tjom, believe me I know. 😉 Lekker flying, remember 24 hours bottle to throttle 😜 🚁
  9. I quite enjoy the story feeds, they do them well and it caters to most attention spans. From squirrel to fox 🤪 Substantial budget to properly package a live stream for any race unfortunately. Will have to wait in Epic and World Cup Series 😬
  10. Plenty coverage on the Insta and Twitter feeds. Actually Dryland, among others, are pretty good at this form of coverage. Far better than a static live stream like some of the SA Cups. And part of a far higher return for sponsors.
  11. Some proper racing. Heart is so happy seeing some semblance of normality returning!
  12. You can opt for elites only if you’re holding a racing license in age cat. But you need to contact CSA beforehand.
  13. Old Opel Astra Estate, if you can find one in good nic and put a bit more into it with some upgrades/repairs. You’ve got a reliable runner that will go almost anywhere and cost min to run.
  14. Friction Facts did a comprehensive test on a range of lubes, both Squirt and Smoove came out in the top results overall. I’ll say stick with that. Ta https://cyclingtips.com/2018/03/fast-chain-lube-that-saves-you-money/ https://cyclingtips.com/tag/friction-facts/
  15. The Ray/Ralph mix is my new favourite combo, particularly for something like Epic. Addix compound speed (red label) on the rear and Speed grip (blue) up front. Current set are 2.25 wide. If there were a limitation, I’d say it’s in snotty type mud under forest canopy. The tread packs up with dirt quickly. As I found out in Karkloof recently, but to be fair it would need more ride time to be sure. I was also being cautious. Found them pretty bomb proof compared to my Vitorria Barzo 2.35 previously on the same wheelset. Sun Ringle. Maxxis Rekon, Ikon and/or Ardent are pretty the safest benchmark. Specialized have really upped their game and I’ve often found their tyres underrated. Bontrager deserve a special mention as well, in particular the XR3 tyres. Great all rounder, decent weight and fast rolling. Conti, I think they’re doing good things and there seem to be some damn good product out there. But what’s the point if you’re not sure of availability/pricing. Marketing questionnaires are great for showing who has market share. But lacks context such as volume of import, pricing, variety etc
  16. Slowly chasing down our food like our ancestors, but different.
  17. Closest is the stolen bike registry on Bike Hub. There was an independant setup a few years back, which I think came into BH ( @Mattcan confirm) not much public/industry support unfortunately.
  18. It didn't offer anything new or insightful really, it just added long form hyperbole. Personally found it simply exploited circumstances to maximise clicks across everyone of it's titles. Being open about having a personal connection doesn't detract from the massive conflict of interest. From a news perspective it's hugely problematic to ethically publish such a piece under these conditions. CT founder Wallace made it clear. Internally a number of people are not happy either.
  19. Actually over the last year or so Jan has come back from some pretty severe injuries, some of which will involve serious dental work. It’s something he’s been incredibly conscious of as well and it’s taking a damn long process to overcome. He reads the forums and various race reports from time to time. So as much as it may not be intended maliciously and you okes are trying to funny. Understand it’s on an open forum, be lekker.
  20. Pure trash. Can only imagine how friends and family feel having everything dredged up again. And JAG rounds are absolutely intended to cause more damage to the body, by default an increase in stopping power.
  21. I’ll call you out on this and say BS. Cyphers generally aren’t available for sale secondhand, where they are they sell very well. The Switch is a case point, hell some models have sold at their origin retail. The five year frame warranty is transferable between buyers, which most other brands don’t do. Most other brand don’t have transferable warranty’s at all, many also don’t have a lifetime warranty without specific exclusions or at a premium. Curious as to what older carbon frames have had issues and what those issues were? Interestingly TR’s lead designer actually worked for Pyga over a good few years and worked out of the cSixx office at the time. Titan is also available in quite a few countries, eight or nine as I last recall. Both Titan Racing and Pyga are good examples of a local business can be successful, both have different approaches. Pyga have positioned themselves as a boutique brand and TR are well positioned as broad based value brand.
  22. Cheers, this actually proves my point.
  23. The main reason, and this has been the issue for years, well before covid. Provincials are not communicated, advertised or marketed well. At all. Where they have, which is rarely, they’ve been well attended by both supporters and competition. I saw and heard more about WP than anything about Gauteng where I live. KZN and WP have often been the most consistent overall. Gauteng could perhaps take a page from MTB in the last year or so. Can also appreciate how difficult it can be with all the BS politics and bureaucracy.
