  1. Interesting. Why is it shocking?
  2. I have a 120mm Titan Cypher, I friggin love it and there's very little to be critical of tbh. At the price it is a no brainer. That said. When all the waffling is done. Your head plays tricks. Nothing can replace a gut feel. Go with your heart, it is the whole point of why we ride.
  3. Each pays proportionate to what they had, unless everyone had essentially the same thing. Plus extra for the tip. I someone in the group provided transport then they shouldn't have to pay at all, at least not for their beers/drinks. Edit: I actually remember one character from ages back who'd insist on splitting everything equally. Guess who was sure to order far more than anyone else.
  4. That was some superlative racing with a quality field, and Karkloof is the perfect setting. World class riding there! Enjoyed the coverage from Wildair, team did a good job with live updates and content across Instagram/FB Can still view the live footage on their Instagram stories. https://instagram.com/wildairsports?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
  5. Did something similar in the late 90s, in the Drakensburg Amphitheatre. On a 26r FS Produx with v brakes. Took a few hours for my nought to unclench, what a relief.

  7. Group hug almal.....
  8. No you won't. 😋 ... selling as a unit, completly new.
  9. This may or may not be relevant, but anyway. This morning I commuted into Rosebank to meet friends at a new cycling themed coffee shop on the ground floor of their offices. Returning home through the streets of 'The Parks' I stopped at the one set of lights, the earlier coffee was doing it's job of percolating through the synapses and bodily rumblings. Taking the obvious opportunity of no pedestrians and winter morning traffic sounds for a pull my finger moment. So, I white knuckled the bars and gave the ole nought a wee stoot, just a knersie. There was an absolute fantastic baritone of bowel sounds, orchestratic in tone. I swear the reverb alone made my cheeks jiggle jiggle and pushed my socks down within the UCI legal limit. With watery cross eyes and a true sense of accomplishment with the timing, I noticed the robots changing and checked both ways to cross. At the same as this reflective moment I had also heard a low, high pitched "eeep" which wasn't really provide much thought given, the not inconsiderable levels of concentration on my afterburner. Until a creme Mini Cooper came by with it's half open passenger window and glaring eyes set above an open mouth. My shapely derriere must have been at the perfect height, who drives with their windows at half mast in winter though? Anyway, maybe there's a lesson or a life analogy here. Who knows. But not for a moment do I regret!
  10. Bit of a cheeky punt, but I've put a set of Extreme Lights Endurance+ up on the classifieds....
  11. I just clean it out with a spray degreaser and dry. Then squirt in some teflon/penetrating oil and pack with a light marine grease. Extends the servicing intervals substantially, at least for me. Mo cheaper too. MO!
  12. Pretty much the same with everything really. Going top end ultimately only factors weight and some arguably smoother performance. But it'll cost a premium, need more maintenance and likely more prone to wear over time and use. SLX/Deore are more than good enough. Although the XT shifters are worth dropping the extra budget on, far more functional. I've been more than happy with my XT and other than the servicing of the clutch have had no issues. That said, SRAM's GX Eagle really does set the standard in durability and function. Moving down the range, overall I'd look at Shimano's Deore and none series before considering SRAM's SX and NX.
  13. Think we’re looking at two completely different forms of fabrication and spec, the ergonomics alone are different. Csixx one also has a bearing installed. By all means of happy with it, great. But the comparison isn’t really accurate.
  14. He’s a public profile, some sponsors either announced that they were stepping back or quietly removed links to Strickland from their social feeds. So ‘the press’ as in cycling media, would then have a responsibility to follow up with sponsors and request comment/clarification. If they didn’t then people would moan about that. Personally I’m very much in agreement with the post above by @Robbie Stewart
  15. A follow up on the tragedy, beyond the pale how needlessly fktup it all is. https://www.velonews.com/news/road/austin-police-issue-arrest-warrant-in-moriah-wilson-murder-case/
  16. Would give van Gaalens a go as well
  17. Our little concern had at one point well in excess of that just in dead stock, thanks mostly due to previous staff and supplier reps. We managed to clear it and mitigate the damage to MU margins while simultaneously streamlining the stock lines and reducing capital risk.
  18. Clearly, which is why I mentioned it.
  19. Try to open an account with Shimano now.
  20. Becs is 30. Still a while for the 40s yet.
  21. What? Can't hear you, sorry!
  22. Chief, come on the Spruit at 6am!
  23. Best is none existent, its entirely subjective to your specific needs. Ito of backup, ease of use and quality of build a few brands offer a range of solutions. Bontrager, Lezyne, Extreme Lights, Ryder, Specialized or Gloworm are a good place to start. As mentioned though, very subjective as to what you're wanting to do.
  24. Riding in any city is a challenge, Joburg certainly presents some unique ones and cycling/commuting here does require grit. Certainly someone starting out riding is going to have a hard time of it.. But to call it suicidal is way over the top. Even the cycle lanes, while a large portions fell way short, they did have an effect in a short time span of only seven years. It took Holland 40 years. The corridor between Alex and Sandton City is an incredible example of how they can work. Wits through Sophiatown and Auckland Park also provides a decent safety barrier for fair portion of commutable routes. The problem comes in with a lack of impetus for the long term and consistency. The naive fools are those who turned it into a political football. They are the culprits who have wasted public funds and pushed out people who had real vision and talent.
