  1. I can probably make Sunday but not Saturday?
  2. He he! What a ride! smileys/smiley19.gifI left the camera at home... I'll have to download pics tomorrow. So, who's organising the ride this weekend?!
  3. What an awesome ride! We had TWELVE Hubbers arrive for the ride! Wow! The list included the tough Wild Dog and I FLY who regaled us with stories of the Cape Epic and young riding partners. We had ewep and "The Sister", please thank her from us, we all appreciated the coffee, muffins and other delicacies at Magaliesberg! Epoh, you are just too strong for such a newbie cyclist, not fair! Tazman joined us for the first stretch (not sure where you left us?!!). KC, hope you didn't have any trouble after the late finish? And you didn't even get any birthday cake on your own birthday! Perico and Cervelo were stalwarts almost to the end, but the unexpected increase in the distance (146km!) led to a great rate of attrition (OK OK, I started it!) Last but not least, the invincible Joneses, IanJ and Sonic suffered to the bitter end alongside our birthday girl of the day, slowpoke! I hope everyone had a great day, and I promise to organise the WHOLE route next time so we can plan our distance accordingly. Who knew a Subaru could fit 8 people?!!!
  4. Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow!
  5. People, let's not get distracted. We will be rewarding your effort to ride sociably with CHOCOLATE CAKE!!! Hee hee!
  6. Yawn, ve vil beat those snotty Capetonians at their own game and organise our OWN World Funride Championship!!!
  7. DR sounds like a scam to make you buy expensive paint! Just kidding, we will miss you! Scotty, come on!
  8. 17 riders! This must make it a new Hubber's record!!! Yay!! I bet everyone's after the cake...
  9. Let's recap: Slowpoke<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> MichelleH IanJ Sonic Sir Fed Ewep Epoh +1 Tazman SBR220 Cervelo + 1 Anyone left out?
  10. Phew, I actually get some work done and I get blasted for not being online! Yes, all of you chocolate cake fans, DO NOT FEAR! I have a new recipe to try and it is DELICIOUS!! We will be leaving the Mugg and Bean opposite Hillfox (on Albert road) at 7am. We will have a Subaru Outback as a support vehicle, with a trailer that can carry 4 bikes. We can also fit 2 or 3 bikes inside the trailer, and we have a bike rack for behind the car that can take an extra 2! The planned route is left onto HP up to Ontdekkers and then all the way out on Ontdekkers to KDorp game reserve. Onto Magaliesberg (either via Hekpoort or the other way) and we will turn around when the group decides we've had enough! Planning a nice slow easy sociable 100-120km ride. We will stop for breakfast afterwards so invite the family (and wives!)
  11. Sir Fed: Hahahahaha! I love it!!
  12. smileys/smiley36.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif You got us bang on the money!!
  13. I'm happy with your reasoning Sir Fed. So, 7am start from Mugg & Bean opposite Hillfox, route will be out to Magaliesberg and back, there will be a sag wagon with some husbands and wives, and even a qualified sister to look after any injuries (although the rate per minute may be expensive!!) Will lay out a route and get back to everyone, but expect 120km. "I love it when a plan comes together!"
  14. OK, let's meet at M&B shopping centre (I won't call it what you called it Sir Fed!), we stop for a coffee at Magaliesberg, nothing heavy, and then we do a proper breakfast back at News Cafe (don't they serve perfectly good cake?! Hee hee!) I'm keen to start early but not crazy early. How is 7:00 or 7:30?
  15. Under extreme pressure, I give in and agree to provide cake, although I don't promise I'll bake it all myself! M&B at Hillfox is fine as a meeting spot, but the service there has sometimes been shocking! I'm happy to stop at Magaliesberg for breakfast, but will we then be too heavy to ride?!
  16. ewep, with pleasure! OK, just to set the record straight. We will be going for a nice slow ride, where we will wait for the backmarkers and make sure they don't get left behind. We will probably ride 120km or so, and we may even stop for a breakfast halfway. I may or may not have promised cake (I'm not committing myself too early!!) and my husband will drive support so we will have a sag wagon for jackets, spares, etc. So far, we are looking at starting from West Rand, probably Hillfox or Boskruin. General plan at the moment is to head out to Magaliesberg. I will post more detail on a route once I've given it some thought!!
  17. epoh, the plan is definitely just to have fun. I was joking about the abandon rate! OK, where do people want to start from? Are we all agreed on West Rand?
  18. So far on this post alone I think more than 5 people have declared that they might need to use the sag wagon! Darn, I won't be serving tequila, but I still think the dropout rate will be bad! Either that, or people are using sneaky tactics to downplay their fitness so they can outsprint the group to the top of the next hill and still brag that they're not actually in the best shape!! See other post on what we say and what we MEAN!!
  19. Sir Fed, sounds good, it's a deal! ewep, we have a Nissan singlecab and a Subaru Outback (4 seater, AWD, etc). Not sure which one to take, probably the Nissan to store more bikes. We can also borrow a trailer that takes 4 up on the roof (bikes that is!)
  20. OK, 120 to 140k it is. I'll put some thought into a route and keep everyone informed...
  21. I agree ewep! No way I'm attempting 160km without backup! Although anyone who's ridden with me knows I have trouble giving up until I'm nearly dead! Oops! I've asked the birthday girl what she would like to do (it's only polite!) Cycle Junkie, would love map, profile, etc (will PM you). ewep, I've offered once, I will offer again... I have a Geneses in my garage that can be borrowed if you're desperate!!
  22. ... What you put in is what you get out... YUCK!
  23. It's not that I don't want to share, it's that I don't trust the courier service!! And anyway, you'd really have to ride with us to qualify!!
  24. Sigh, I'll have to keep a close eye to keep it on track ;-)<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> OK, so far we have epoh interested, Sir Fed interested, Cervelo maybe, and SBR220. I'll ask my dad if he's interested as well. Then there will be slowpoke (come along just to see her fancy new Garmin!) and me. What would people feel like doing? I've never ridden more than 120km (only once) but I can always catch a lift in the Subaru when I'm tired. Nice route ideas?
  25. Hmmm... this thread looks in danger of being hijacked... do I need to offer birthday cake after the ride?!
