  1. Thanks BigBen! slowpoke and I will tear Logwood up in your honour (and I'll work on the world peace promise... Can I start with domestic peace?!) OK, everyone. Here is the list of what we need. Please respond to let me know what you want to bring: 4 doz eggs 6 packs bacon 20 tomatoes 3 packs sausages 2 packs mushrooms 3 loaves bread 1 jar coffee 1 bag of teabags 1kg sugar 2 litre milk 2 x 5 litre orange juice 2 blocks butter/ margarine 2 jars marmalade Can I suggest that people bring 2 items each? Like 1 pack of bacon and a dozen eggs. Or 1 litre of milk and a pack of sausages? I'll track who is bringing what.
  2. BigBen, I will help you with some of them! But please let me at least reimburse you a little? If I get them, I promise to share the love and introduce many a cyclist to the pitfalls that are Logwood! Oh yes, and world peace! MichH38936.7005208333
  3. Good point. I know I don't feel comfortable riding with people who are "lideless"! I'll bring my spare...
  4. OK, we have a 2 plate gas stove, a skottel, another 1 plate stove and a trestle table. IanJ, can you bring your skottel as well? I'll PM each of you with what to bring...
  5. Hahaha! Looks like it's beer for the favourites only. Dirt-rider, you gonna have to kiss and make up to IanJ to get some! Let's see how it goes on Wednesday, maybe what we'll do is run 2 groups parallel by the canal, one group takes the road and one group takes the singletrack. Then we meet up again and carry on the ride? It let's people have fun without putting beginners in over their head? Planned route, through tunnel turn right. Speedies take the far road, beginners take the first road. Meet at the dam turn left. Follow the canal road. Speedies can go around the outside of the big dam if feeling adventurous. At the singletrack, people can follow the road or the track and we meet at the end. Then either we can turn around and ride the canal road back to the dam for breakfast, or we can climb the hill back to the hay sheds if everyone is still up to it.
  6. I can picture all of us strung out in a looong cycling version of a conga line, snaking our way around the pathways of Northern Farm...!smileys/smiley4.gif Thanks for the correction amateur, looking forward to seeing you there! And you're right, mushrooms, sausages and tomatoes are a must!

  11. smileys/smiley4.gif No kids yet! I'm waiting for the right time! And considering how much cycling I'm doing, I'm not sure when I'll have kids!! Hee hee! Thankfully, my dear, longsuffering husband isn't desperate for sprogs yet! Although I am looking forward to having little sprogs on full suss bikes, saw some at Phambili, too cute!
  12. smileys/smiley4.gifsmileys/smiley4.gif Funny one! As a member of the fairer sex, I'm pretty sure there's no unknown offspring out there calling me mommy!

  18. Hi all, We're putting together a bit of a Hub ride at Northern Farm on Wednesday morning. The plan is: Meet at 8am at Northern Farm and go for a nice MTB ride. We will ride at the pace of the slowest rider so all are welcome (newbies and old hats :-) Afterwards, we will be having a skottel with bacon and eggs and tomato and orange juice and beer and, and! Non-cycling partners are welcome to join us as well!
  19. Droster lives close to me, i.e. Randburg- Weltevreden Park. Droster, thinking of Lanseria?
  20. I go to donate blood and come back to chaos!! OK, I'll find out more about possible new ground, and let everyone know. So far I have slowpoke down for a potential ride, and dirt rider (come on, new territory!!) ewep? You doing that pansy road race?! smileys/smiley4.gif (Just kidding, been hanging around tough MTBers too much!)
  21. Hi all, I'm not going away for the weekend (i.e. I have to work on Monday and Tuesday!). Does anyone have MTB plans for Wednesday? Thinking of doing something different, just not sure what it is yet. Maybe if anyone knows routes in the Magaliesberg? I know Swampdogs has some trails out by Lanseria? Let me know...
  22. I certainly don't have enough experience to comment, but I wanted to say how great it is that you're helping your friend to stretch and grow!
  23. OK, so we have identified that the frame is too big for me, so hopefully I'll be taking all those nice components and putting it onto my Schwinn frame!
  24. Thanks all for the advice. My dad is a giant and the bike was waaay too small for him. In this pic, you can see the bike with his saddle position (mine is much lower). I think I'll prob need to change the stem... uploads/MichH/images/2006-07-14_091003_Kona.jpg
  25. Joberg_Red, the problem is the other way round (hard to explain online). I'm not looking over the handlebars, but under them. That means that the steering seems too "twitchy" (don't you love these scientific definitions?!). I feel like the angle from my handlebars to the front hub is too perpendicular. Anyway, not sure what to change, if it needs changing. The Schwinn is very laid back in handling, not sure if the new bike is right or not...
