I agree with the walk first then ride, but as a girl I can attest that sometimes you have to walk it more than once before riding it, I suppose we have to build up the mental strength? I also went through a stage of overconfidence and took a number of hard falls in a short space of time. I've regressed a bit since then, but I think it's been a good thing. Forced me to go back to Logwood green routes and perfect some technique...

Hi Jedi and welcome to the Hub (if no-ones's beaten me to it!) As a lady rider, I've also lent heavily on my male counterparts for help in the past. But your best bet is to become independant. I believe in being as low maintenance to my friends as possible, and that means learning how to sort out the basics on my own bike. Where do you stay? slowpoke and I (both ladies) live near Northgate and ride together often. We also ride with amateur (also a lady) and we have some great rides. Why don't you join us for a ride and we can help you with some basic maintenance as well?

Aw BigBen so sorry to miss you! And I would never purposefully ignore you, I'm just sometimes blonde and can only focus on one thing at a time (at that time it was not falling off as I went up that ramp!). Just ask slowpoke, I drive her mad! I had a terrible race, dragged my sorry @$$ across the line after more than 5 hours had elapsed. So by the time you saw me, all I wanted was a hot shower, chocolate and bed!! That's probably why I was so distracted!!
