  1. I'm doing Karoo to Coast this week end, but after that I'm cleared to do AM riding for the rest of the year. So give us a shout. I'm in Majik (or the surrounds) most Saturday mornings.
  2. It feels like it should go a lot quicker than 7 minutes, but I guess it's all the switchbacks (i.e. stop/start) that takes up a lot of time. The trick I guess is to keep it smooth and hold your speed in the corners.
  3. Ok Cap. I timed my run at Majik from the beacon to the tarmac at the carpark. But... I did the run after a 4 hour training ride, so I was pretty knackered at the time and also had xc tires on my Zula...and it was still wet/slippy Excuses excuses! Did it in 7min 15 sec. So Wes's estimate of 7 min was spot on. I reckon with Nevegals/High rollers and fresh legs you can push a 6:45? And with bigger balls possibly another 15 sec off?
  4. Great Epic training.
  5. Hell yea! Martin you must plonk these pics in the Intense thread as well.
  6. Hie hie... the last complete bike I bought was in fact a Giant... the good ol' Giant VT1! Still a classic.
  7. Think I'm gonna get the Minnaar's. Then you can use it for clipless riding and flat pedal. Two shoes for the price of one.
  8. Put a 150mm fork on your EX and you've got an AM machine I rode an EX9 for 2 years. Great bikes, but it always felt that the front end had too little travel compared to the back end.
  9. Not sure why the AM/Trail market isn't picking up quicker. Somehow the SA market is more focussed on XC, marathon etc. And the sad thing is we've got all the terrain for AM you could ever ask for. Dunno, maybe it's just that the cycling co's in SA aren't promoting it more? If you don't advertise it, the people won't know about it?
  10. Mavic's are great wheels. Have done Epic, Atta, Hell and Back etc on them and no issues. Just need to service the rear hub every 3 months or so, but otherwise bullet proof.
  11. Hmmm... ok, we'll make an exception, because those girls look kinda dirty.
  12. Shoe, I think I'm sold.
  13. Hmmm...interesting.
  14. And I have the scars to prove your point.
  15. Better make sure it sees some serious dirt, otherwise the mtb boogie man will get medieval on your ass. Better post another pic with the bike dirty within the next 24 hours, otherwise there will be trouble.
  16. Ha ha! Ja, I guess it kinda defeats the purpose if you ride them with cleats! Did you source them locally?
  17. I see the Minnaar 5.10's you can ride with cleats as well. Any good?
  18. The funny thing is, I cycled for 7 years with flats and swore that I would never go the clipless pedal route. And now that I've made the switch to clipless I can't imagine riding with flats again. Go figure. But me thinks me will have to revisit my roots again. Especially for stuff like jumping, 4x etc.
  19. Nope, not adjustable for leg width. But the material is a lot tougher and thicker though than the normal Fox/Ndola stuff. It almost feels like motocross pants, but a lot lighter. Definately won't flop around when riding. Got them in Bellville at Recycles.
  20. Got them from JP at Recycles. Not sure if he still has stock left, but I think you can get them on CRC as well.
  21. Jeesh, the suspense is killing me! I've been riding Majik for like 10 years and never thought of timing the runs. Well mostly because I'm too *** slow, so it would just be embarassing...
  22. Those AC's were the best. There were coiler and air shock versions if I remember correct? Which one you have?
  23. Nope. Good ol' Morewood Zula.
  24. Ha ha. Well that too. It's Majik forest. Just don't know what you gonna find.
  25. Pretty much. Unlike Tokai people, the Durbanvillers haven't yet learnt to read, so the signage to the single track that clearly states "one way traffic" has no effect.
