  1. I would really like to thank manbearpig for giving me one of his chainring bolts after I lost 3 of mine so I could finish the Ultra. You Sir are a true gentleman and I owe you a few cold ones! Cheers, Doug.
  2. Send PYGA an email. I had the same issue with my Zero29 and after contacting Pat it was agreed that I could drill a small hole below the BB to let the water out without any warranty issues..
  3. I would just like to take this opportunity to publicly thank all those good people who put time into making the Spruit a really great ride! I don't claim to have the best bike skills and sometimes I find myself seriously tested on my HT. But I rode the Spruit yesterday and tried every jump and bern I could find I even came close to playing lawn darts with myself a couple times and even then it was a fantastic ride! So if you do happen to put your name on a section I will happily buy you a beer! Keep up the great work!
  4. Guess they are waiting for someone with deep pockets..
  5. If I had a few $$ lying around I might just wait a week and invest in the land.. Sadly I don't but I am all in for a group ride through the area as an excuse for said refreshments.. The area looks to good just to completely ignore it and I guess there is always safety in numbers!
  6. Thanks for all the info, I had my concerns about the possibility of the dodgies.. Any open area like that is unfortunately going to attract the wrong type of person which is annoying because it looks like a great place for a enduro/xc type loop. I will stick to VG for now. Cheers.
  7. Hi Guys, I just trying to find out if anyone rides on the open ridge east of the N1 Highway and north of the Kloof Medi-Clinic in Erasmuskloof? I am very keen to try it out, but I am not sure if its closed off or worse unsafe? Cheers!
  8. Make a plan! Its in your backyard!
  9. I would also like to piggy back on this thread. I have bounced around Cycle shops in the Pretoria area, the first experience is always a good one but on return its never the same. However with Lynnwood Cyclery I have always had a great experience. Had all my bikes serviced there, always got more value than I expected with great interactions. Thanks Lynnwood Cyclery Plus its 5min from my house...
  10. MTB: No matter how long or hard the climbs are just being on my bike is reward enough! The beers and laughs post ride are also a good motivator!
  11. Now that this thread has pretty much died I would assume because most of you are enjoying riding your new PYGA's. I have finally collected together all the parts I have wanted to build up my Zero29.. And so the build shall begin as soon as I can find the time. I will post pictures as and when I can but here is a list of whats getting put together... Medium Zero29 frame Full XT group set (Black) Black Fox F29 Float Stans Crest rims with red Hope2 hubs Red Crank Brother candy peddles Red and black Crank Brothers Cobal Stem Truvati Carbon Noir Handle bar Black ESI grips..
  12. Thanks guys, I priced the wheel set and its about R1500 cheaper unless there a duties on wheel sets that I am not aware of. I Have been working with 14%vat and the shipping charge..
  13. Hi All, I am looking at getting a new wheel set from Merlin Cycles in the UK. And was wondering whether anyone had bought anything from them and what you experience was? Thanks!
  14. Hi, I have not got an 800 myself but did some research a while back on free base maps for the unit. You can do a Google search and there is lots of help out there to get free base maps onto the unit. You can also start at http://openmtbmap.org/ its has a lot of information you just need to dig a little. Enjoy!
  15. Hi All, I have also just received my shiny new Zero29 frame.. Unfortunately for me the slow process of a component hunt now begins.. I have a question for the more informed masses. With the tapered head tube how much of a loss would it be to the bike if I was to settle for a non tapered fork? Naturally a tapered fork will be first prize but in my quest to get onto the bike and my disposition of having slightly limited funds a non tapered fork might have to fill in for the time being. Thanks and keep the pictures coming they are really motivating! Cheers, Doug
  16. Last I saw between R500-R700 depending on the fine print... UST/Protection.
  17. Thanks, yea Chainreaction is the best option unfortunately I depart for Botswana tomorrow.. I am just going to need to cough up!
  18. Thanks guys you have confirmed what I was thinking.. I have been using Stan's sealant so I guess that's the error in my ways. Although I have been very happy with the sealant, its given me a year of puncture free riding so I guess you got to take the good with the bad.. Off to the LBS I go, here's hoping they are running a tyre special..
  19. Hello All, I have got a Conti race king on the back wheel of my bike which has developed a bubble... I sent the bike in for a service and to renew the tyre sealant. When I got the bike home I noticed that there was a bubble about the size of half and egg on the rear wheel along the centre line of the tread.. My question is would it be silly to ride the bike in this condition, considering I am doing the Kalahari Challenge this weekend? I don't think it was any fault of the LBS the tyre is nearly a year old and seen some good use. But the tread was still in good condition so I had not considered changing it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
  20. Its my church full of trees and open spaces!
  21. And just to add on to this, I had the same pair of Giros which stained my hands and then once I had washed the gloves just as I had done with my 2 year old Specialized's the leather on the palm of the Giro's had complete structural failure. Which left me with a useless pair of two month of expensive gloves! So I am back on my Specialized... Still planning on giving them a piece of my mind!
  22. Hi, If anyone is looking for a 60km entry for this weekends Imvelo race in Swaziland. I cannot make it. Its a great ride with good people, really annoyed about not being able to do it. Next year for sure! Contact me via email at bradley.doug32@gmail.com. Doug.
  23. This is all great and everything but at the end of the day all its really doing is complicating the situation that we all will/have faced.. When you are out on the trail having "one" of those days and you have run out of tubes and some kind soul stops to help you out. But alas he is on a 26'er and I have a fancy new 27.5'er... Bar that I think its down to the rider! Or am I just over thinking it?
  24. I am in a similar situation.. I have a 2006 DS Giant which I really enjoy and in no way does it let me down but still have an itch for a 29'er. So I have decided to get a PYGA Zero29 and build it up as time and cash allows. I could never sell my Giant as the money I could get for it would never out weigh the enjoyment and service it gives me..
