So tell me Summit, how was it "at the back"?!? seems if you put some boys on bicycles together, testosterone clouds their judgement and "social" riding becomes very blurry. nevermind, I really had fun "at the back" there were some really cool people there with you on the name tags.. now I know all the hub names that were there but I don't know if I could match them with faces

Thanks guys! It was a fantastic day and just the way to start my official leave The little marshalls especially requested to be woken early and were very excited about wearing 'official' bibs and directing traffic - they were stars (oh they got paid for their efforts too) My family were great and I really couldn't pull something like this off without all their help. I had nothing (or very little) to do with the boerie rolls, but they were a great way to end a ride. Thanks to my brother-in-law Ian for braaing and my sister and folks for organising everything else while I was having a great ride! . Then to all you guys and girls that pitched for the ride.. it wouldn't be a ride without all the cyclists so you guys made it! What a nice crowd and great vibe! was good to see old faces and meet some new ones. Thank you for all the contributions towards FORA and a big thanks to amateur and zaskar for ferrying the donations to the deserving beneficiaries. wow.. I feel like I'm delivering an Oscar speech here. thanks to all my fans and .... just kidding You guys rock!!

Looks like it's going to be very hot. Please bring sunblock and for those that are going over the mountain I would suggest that you carry cash to buy extra drinks at the shebeen. There is no-where to re-fill water bottles once you start climbing back up the mountain! Also, for those that are going to hang around a bit afterwards, please bring camping chairs and umbrellas if you have.

Apologies, I somehow missed your post. Unfortunately we don't have braai facilities for so many people. As an alternative, I have arranged for boerewors rolls and colddrinks to be on sale after the ride.

It's 57kms with 640m ascent to the top and back (total distance) or 68kms with 985m ascent (total) if you go over the other side and back.

Does this mean I can add your name to the list Face Plant?
