  1. Bad luck Chucky all the best and enjoy Namibia
  2. The first time I tried using cleats I ended up with a very sore shoulder and bruised ego, oh and an elbow roastie. So I took my bike up to the local sports ground and armed with some flat pedals and a spanner I tried one cleat at a time. I rode with one flat pedal until I got the hang of clipping in and out on the one side and then braved 2 cleats. I only fell once, but it was a soft landing on the grass and there was no-one around to see me It's a bit like driving a car; difficult at first, but with lots of practice it becomes second nature welcome to the hub dynamite
  3. Hey jmt, you have PM
  4. Why can't we all just get along? Ken's right about one thing Courtesy costs nothing but it's something that is sorely lacking on our roads, between all road users on 2 wheels and 4
  5. I rode there on Sunday morning. There were a number of cyclists that were riding in the wrong direction. Then it occurred to me that if it was my first visit there alone I wouldn't have a clue which direction to ride in and could quite innocently make the same mistake. A simple solution would be for the security guards at the main gate to issue a 'read before you ride' flyer upon entering the park. This could have a map as well as a few simple rules to follow. Some signage warning cyclists that once you commit to the first hill out of the parking lot there's no turning back and you commit to a whole loop might help.
  6. Wow, serious anger issues. I wonder if Ken drives a white Hyundai...
  7. Monkey, I'm probably riding there on Sunday if you want me to show you the way. I'll PM you directions if you prefer riding on your own.
  8. Also keep an eye out for when the 'dual' track becomes singletrack again, if you don't things could become nasty... especially at speed..
  9. Duh! Obviously Land Rover track
  10. It's 'purpose cut' singletrack allowing riders overtaking opportunities. The tracks are sometimes close together but can separate to go around obstacles, so no Para... it's not the same as jeep track
  11. I like it too... anyone else interested in ordering? I am but a minimum order of 10 would obviously bring the cost down slightly.
  12. So did anyone ever buy this kit? Haven't seen anyone riding in it yet...
  13. Glad you got your bike back goose... thanks for the laugh!
  14. HEY!!!!
  15. Not even worth trying to debate. Their intellect is directly proportional to the size of their manlihood... that's why they need to belong to car forums and make up their masculinity by driving big cars and threatening the lives of those that are more vulnerable on the roads. Sheesh, as if society isn't aggressive enough. Clearly none of them have lost a loved one in a hit and run.
  16. Thanks colonel, will give it a bash
  17. I accidentally stopped my CS400 halfway through yesterday's ride. I started a new exercise, but now I have two files for one training ride. Is there any way I can combine the two exercises?
  18. Nice pics Pantani! How was the turnout?
  19. Glad I'm not the only one who rides single file when out riding on my own Now,now Taps... I do believe Roons referred to the "chaps" not the "chap" but thanks for the giggle
  20. @Roons.... no I was waiting for you to EVENTUALLY join me at Breedts Nek, I figured that was never gonna happen so my next best bet was to dust off my road bike @tarboy.... you're welcome, anytime
  21. Whatever next?! I bet you he was wearing a helmet too and riding in single file before he stopped! I went out on a Cyclelab group ride on Saturday morning and realised why it is that roadies don't greet... they're too busy concentrating on staying alive, that was my experience anyway Taxis, traffic, skinny wheels... it was all a little overwhelming
  22. I'm more nervous on a road bike than most people I know, I was just super aware of where the fast bunch was at all times so as not to get in their way... try it rac373v2, it's a fun way to end a working day.. Traffic/time permitting, Ill definitely give it another bash..
  23. I think 1 lap is about 900m? I stand to be corrected. maybe someone else can comment how technical it is, I don't know what "technical" is in terms of road riding...
  24. para.. you make it all the way past lap 2?! I've only done it once and if memory serves me correctly, I was lapped on my second lap... it's all good though, cos I don't have an image to uphold
  25. Yip, everyone starts together
