  1. Yip How would you compare a six hour's riders attitude compared to one doing 24 hours ? I am asking and as I said elsewhere I am a mere apprentice in the wonderful world of ultra endurance MTB. I would think that a six hour race would attract a faster and more experienced rider and with my limited experience in 24 hours I would have to assume that an event like this would attract all types, so I don't really see the slower guys being so amicable. Limited experience with this and I would appreciate some more insight. Boris it's easy... just keep left as much as possible because you're so slow you're gonna have a lot of people trying to overtake you. In fact, I have a better idea... rather don't ride, you'll just get in everyones way
  2. That's not a tumble, it looks more like spud was getting comfy waiting for you guys to catch up with him, he'd just woken from his nap when you arrived with your camera DT
  3. Wow Boris. This is truly inspirational. What dedication. I think we could all learn a lot from this team
  4. I'm so sorry I missed this, watched the British version and thoroughly enjoyed it. Congrats Bardy clan, you must be really proud
  5. Now there I have to agree. It's really disgusting doing Trials on the rocks and having to dodge the sh!tpiles everywhere. Also, broken glass, booze bottles, and just general garbage everywhere. It's sickening! I told you my side of the spruit is better
  6. Hey BL, I came across this one on Breedts Nek one day; that's as close as I'd allow myself to get... quality not great cos it was taken from my cell phone
  7. I thought you were still there dirtygirl?

  10. you mean people worry about post counts before that? That's just sad stuff should sell because of a persons credibility, not their post count and I know some hubbers that have huge post counts and little credibility
  11. Sorry mon ami You're forgiven my son... don't do it again
  12. I tend to agree with EigerSA, I've gradually started becoming faster just by riding with faster people who push me out of my comfort zone (a lot of the time, they're unaware that they're doing it ) But I do think it also boils down to what SC called 'muscle memory', the more time you spend on your bike, the faster you're likely to become. You can't ride once a week or every other week and expect exceptional results Patience...
  13. Good advice there SC
  14. Get a coach.
  15. I can see you guys are all being very helpful... any useful advice?
  16. Bad luck Chucky all the best and enjoy Namibia
  17. The first time I tried using cleats I ended up with a very sore shoulder and bruised ego, oh and an elbow roastie. So I took my bike up to the local sports ground and armed with some flat pedals and a spanner I tried one cleat at a time. I rode with one flat pedal until I got the hang of clipping in and out on the one side and then braved 2 cleats. I only fell once, but it was a soft landing on the grass and there was no-one around to see me It's a bit like driving a car; difficult at first, but with lots of practice it becomes second nature welcome to the hub dynamite
  18. Hey jmt, you have PM
  19. Why can't we all just get along? Ken's right about one thing Courtesy costs nothing but it's something that is sorely lacking on our roads, between all road users on 2 wheels and 4
  20. I rode there on Sunday morning. There were a number of cyclists that were riding in the wrong direction. Then it occurred to me that if it was my first visit there alone I wouldn't have a clue which direction to ride in and could quite innocently make the same mistake. A simple solution would be for the security guards at the main gate to issue a 'read before you ride' flyer upon entering the park. This could have a map as well as a few simple rules to follow. Some signage warning cyclists that once you commit to the first hill out of the parking lot there's no turning back and you commit to a whole loop might help.
  21. Wow, serious anger issues. I wonder if Ken drives a white Hyundai...
  22. Monkey, I'm probably riding there on Sunday if you want me to show you the way. I'll PM you directions if you prefer riding on your own.
