  1. Is anyone else still getting letter and statements from My Picture / Action Photo for last years 94.7 race? In my case I bought the photos and paid by electronic transfer. Mailed lawrence@mypicture.co.za the payment details and still over 6 months later I still receive statements and letters requesting payment. I'm about to pick up the phone and rip someone a new one. Thought I'd do some research first.
  2. Ryan, what time was your jacking on Saturday. I thought to myself that the spruit was to busy for there to be a jacking on the weekend. Obviously not!!!
  3. The ride turned out to be a very good one, the route we followed was: From Leslie and Douglas Drive, South on Douglas, becomes Grosvenor. Follow Grosvenor all the way to the spruit using pavements mostly. South along the spruit to the bridge just after Republic and William Nicole. Back up the spruit to Devonshire. Up Devonshire to Cambridge Rd, Across to Cowley and all the way up Cowley over mount. Monster climb, thank fully short!!! We then rode throught the park land that seperates the new bike park from the townhouses, Up Sloan and down Main. Finally we turned up past the 4X4 garage and worked our way back onto Leslie and home. The ride took 2 hours and was 28.5km door to door. Sadly not many joined the ride, one person came down with flu, another had a family emergency however the biggest problem seemed to be over indulgence the night before. On the way back we stopped at the bike park and chatted to some guy's working on the park. While there we where approached by Ali McLean (Andrews wife) who had just fought off a bike jacker on Main Road where it crosses the N1. I would like to organise more rides, however it just isn't viable given the lack of support. There was another bike-jacking in the spruit on Saturday and the only way to do this safely is in a fairly large group. Therefore next week I'll either be riding at Northern Farm, Rietvlei or road bike in the Cradle.
  4. Sadly I need to report that on my way back from the spruit on Sunday, outside the new bike park, my son and I came across Ali McLean who had just fought off a bike jacker at on Main Road where it crosses the N1, highway. The guy fled onto the highway with her wallet and cell phone.
  5. The ride is definitely on for tomorrow morning. My knee hurts like a beast while walking but is fine on a bike (go figure). See you at 8 tomorrow.
  6. last time I checked 1 rpm (revolution per minute) was 1 rpm irrespective of what distance from the center of a wheel that you measure it.
  7. You should try it as I'm sure you have both better leg strentgh and cadence than me.
  8. I've heard rumor from a reasonably reliable resource that Andrew McLeans Prototype had a Dura Ace crank fitted. My bike when it was recently serviced and needed a new BB got a road one. I'm not a expert on these matters but do think that a 105 crank might be a well priced place to start looking for a conversion kit.
  9. Also quite a drive, but Rietvlei is awesome. You won't be sorry.
  10. My Cannondale has a 29 / 44 crank matched to a 11 - 34 cassette and seems to give me all the gears I want. I think a double crank is a much better idea on all levels.
  11. An idea inspired by calabash would be to take up a collection and approach the staff from a local security company and offer a reward for the arrest of the culprits.
  12. No knee guards there mate Don't joke, I might be getting some soon.
  13. For MTB riding my best find is light MX gloves that I picked up at one of the "Full Throttle" clearance stores. Since I got these my hands have come off best after a number of good falls.
  14. Dear Father Xmas, As you know I have been a good boy this year ....... Please can I have this http://www.feltracing.com/09-catalog/hardtail-mountain/nine-series/09-nine-solo.aspx PS, when I havn't been good, I've at least been good at it.
  15. Geez, that is terrible and can happen to anyone. I am so sorry. Best of luck Ben, I wish you a really speedy recovery.
  16. Thanks, and thanks for looking at the horrid thing (I wish I hadn't). See you next week.
  17. I tried to get rid of a very annoying rock last night by driving my knee through it. Didn't quite turn out as planned. Very embarrassing as it happened in front of everyone including ShaunH and Scotty. On the plus side I managed to get a 1st, 2nd and 3rd opinion with in about 2 minutes and was taken by Craig (a plastic and reconstructive surgeon) to Union hospital where he cleaned and stitched me up. Not to sure how many stitches, but there are a few inside as well as out. The knee feels great this morning, so I might still do the night race next week.
